Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Foods disappearing one by one

Locusts in Africa

As global grain, vegetable, fruit and nut yields continue to decline, we will be retrained to eat blemished fruit and taught not to hunt feral pigs because that's only what the authorities can do. A discouragement for self sufficiency and only rely on supermarkets which will be less and less stocked, meaning prices up and declining alternatives for consumers. Big-Ag lobbying to keep food only through their supply chains.

Comment: The coronavirus crisis, in addition to earth changes affecting crop growth, and the losing value of currency which is set to get much worse in Western nations in particular, have made the production, availability, purchasing and distribution of food - a MAJOR global issue the likes of which we haven't seen in generations.

People at the scene were advised to keep 20 metres away from the hole as it continues to grow.
SES crews have roped off a large sinkhole that has appeared in Melbourne's east as wintery conditions made an early appearance in Victoria

The 12-metre-wide and five-metre-deep hole in Kew developed in reserve about 3:15pm in what the SES said was a broken pipe for stormwater access belonging to the Boroondara City Council.

Council officials roped the area off to keep people safe amid fears it would continue to grow while it was raining and police were called to the scene.

Melbourne and Canberra could record their coldest April days as chilly weather hits Australia’s south-east.
Record cold and heavy rain could sweep over Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and parts of Queensland in coming days as "the strongest cold front of the year" moves across Australia.

Temperatures could be between 8C and 14C below average in the country's south-east, and Melbourne and Canberra could break their records for coldest day in April, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Melbourne is forecast for a maximum of just 13C on Thursday and Friday, which would make it the coldest April day since 1996. Canberra is forecast for an even colder maximum of 7C on Friday, which would break the city's record for the earliest day below 10C.

One of the bureau's forecasters, Dean Narramore, added that parts of northern and central South Australia could experience "one of the coldest April days since the 60s or 70s."

Frost is forecast for inland parts of New South Wales and Victoria.

"It's pretty unusual to see a cold front this strong, this early in the year, Narramore said on Wednesday, as he described it as "the strongest cold front of the year".

Comment: Early snowfall for 3 states in Australia

Thousands of seabirds wash up on north-east beaches of Scotland

Black guillemot birds have been washing up on beaches across the north-east

Black guillemot birds have been washing up on beaches across the north-east
The public are urged to stay vigilant as thousands of birds wash up on beaches across the north-east.

New Arc rescue centre has been receiving a number of calls regarding guillemots washed up on beaches across the north-east, most of which are dead.

Head of the charity, Keith Findlay is asking people walking along beaches to check on the birds. He said: "This is happening at a time near the start of the breeding season and although the birds are not a rare species, this could have a major impact on their population."

It's not certain why exactly so many of the birds have washed on the north-east shores however, Mr Marley said:" The birds that have been coming into us have been quite underweight so it's presumably food-related."

A spring snowstorm dropped 14 inches of wet snow on the Otsego County town of Cherry Valley, elevation 1,437 feet.
While the calendar may seem to say we're too close to summer and far enough removed from winter, a springtime snowstorm unleashed more than a foot of wintry weather on areas of New York and nearly as much in New England.

Snow began falling in southern New York on Sunday afternoon as photos emerged from areas such as Binghamton of accumulated snow on yards.

From there, the mix moved northeastward and left higher-elevation areas with a mess to clean up. In Otsego County, WKTV Meteorologist Jill Reale measured 14 inches of snow in Cherry Valley.

Hailstorm pummels Bossier and Benton, Louisiana - baseball size hail reported

hail
A historic weather event with hail, strong winds and heavy rains made its way across Bossier Parish on Friday night. Especially hard hit were Benton, North Bossier City and Haughton. The storm produced widespread hail which pounded and pummeled parts of Bossier Parish. Hail ranging in size from quarter size to baseball size has been reported. Local meteorologists indicate that hail of this size and a hail storm of this magnitude is a rare occurrence in our area. Strong winds estimated to have reached 60 to 80 miles per hour accompanied the storm system as it quickly moved across Bossier Parish.

The hail storm has been deemed a historic weather event as a result of both it's longevity and the wide path that it cut across the Ark-La-Tex region. The storm started in upper Northeast Texas between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., continued along a path that brought it into Bossier Parish around 10:00 p.m. and then continued moving eastward into Webster, Bienville and Jackson parishes. The storm consistently dropped hail almost non-stop along it's entire path. Large amounts of hail was still visible on the ground several hours after the storm passed through Bossier Parish.
