The loss of power to hundreds of homes and businesses in the north west of the region happened on one of the busiest bank holiday weekends of the year.
Proprietors of hotels and restaurants were unable to provide food for their guests as SSE scrambled to reconnect them to the grid.
The areas affected were Torridon, Diabeig, Shieldaig, Alligin, Kishorn, Strathcarron and Applecross.

"Lava flow from Fissures 7 and 21 crossed into PGV [Puna Geothermal Venture] property overnight and has now covered one well that was successfully plugged," declared the Hawaii Civil Defense Agency in a statement released on Sunday, May 27 at 6:00 pm local time. "That well, along with a second well 100 feet [30 meters] away, are stable and secured, and are being monitored. Also due to preventative measures, neither well is expected to release any hydrogen sulfide."

Fana Broadcasting Corporation reported that the landslide happened Saturday evening after hours of heavy rains in the area. The report said 16 of the fatalities were women. It said six others were injured and taken to health centers after sustaining heavy bodily injuries.
Ethiopia is receiving heavy seasonal rains which sometimes cause severe landslides in some parts of the country.
Close to 50 people died in a similar landslide in May 2016 after heavy rains caused flooding and landslides.

Landslides caused by heavy rain killed at least 32 people in southern Ethiopia over the weekend, the government said on Monday.
The Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) said nine people died in the Gamo Gofa zone, with 17 injured.
The state-affiliated Fana Broadcast Corporate on Sunday reported that 23 people were killed in a landslide in the Sidama zone.
Six people were badly injured, Fana reported.
Countries across the Horn of Africa have recently struggled to cope with heavy rains.
Last week, flooding and strong winds caused by Cyclone Sagar killed at least 25 people in Djibouti and Somaliland, while heavy flooding left 21 dead in Somalia, according to the UN's humanitarian coordinator OCHA.

Neighbor Larry Davis said he called 911 without knowing the cries for help were coming from a child.
"I heard a bunch of screaming and hollering so I called 911," Davis said. "Why he did that, I have no idea."
Police said the pit bull had the child by the head and shoulder, and continued to be aggressive when emergency responders arrived.
The dog had to be subdued by fire and police officials until animal control arrived, officials said.

A spokesman for Bochum police said first responders found the 23 and 21-year-old women lying on the ground with their clothing torn in the city's Wattenscheid district on Sunday evening.
Paramedics had to resuscitate the 23-year-old and she remains in intensive care with life-threatening injuries, Bochum police spokesman Volker Schuette said.
The younger woman told police the last thing she remembered was walking with her friend on a footpath and recording each other with their smartphones, Schuette told The Associated Press.
"Clearly they were surprised by the storm," he said.
High velocity wind lashed parts of Jharkhand including capital Ranchi Sunday evening and a series of thunderstorms uprooted dozens of trees, electricity poles and blew off asbestos rooftop of several houses in nearby villages.
Two deaths were reported from Ranchi's Khalari area, two from Giridih, one each from Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Koderma and Lohardaga from between Sunday afternoon and midnight. At Khalari, the deceased were identified as Bittu Turi and Rahul Turi, who had come to see a religious function at Chaingarha in Khalari on Sunday. Eye-witnesses said they were standing under a tree after the function when lightning struck them in the evening.
At present it is not certain what may have led to the young animal's death, though wounds observed by the first comers suggest it may possibly have been hit by a vessel at sea.
The carcass attracted a small crowd of onlookers and, even faster, a crowd of eager knife-wielders keen to get their hands on some of the whale's meat.
Specialised Rescue Unit's Quentin Power reminded people that it is illegal to be in possession of any part of a whale, including any meat or blubber.
