Stephen Hicks from the University of Southampton and David Hawthorn from the British Geological Survey install a monitoring station in Surrey this week to meisure seismic activity
Special monitoring equipment was installed only a few days ago at Horse Hill in Horley to better understand what is happening beneath the surface of the area.

Anak Krakatau has rumbled back to life in recent weeks, spitting flaming rocks and ash from its crater.
An Indonesian volcano known as the "child" of the legendary Krakatoa erupted on Thursday, spewing a plume of ash high into the sky as molten lava streamed down from its summit.
No one lives on Krakatau, which forms a small island in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, but the peak is a popular tourist spot.
Indonesia's geological agency has not raised the alert level for the mountain. However, there is a one kilometre no-go zone around its summit.
Please excuse the foul language.
Comment: Another YouTube user in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania posted a clip of strange sounds he heard the same day.

Confirmed sightings of True's beaked whales have only been made three times previously in the North Atlantic.
Science's understanding of beaked whales has mostly been made from the stranding of dead animals.
But this group of the whales - estimated at being 16 foot (five metres) long - were spotted breaching the waters off the coast off Santander earlier this month.
State Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel said the death toll during the ongoing monsoon season has reached 32 in the State. Junagadh, Gir Somnath and Dangs districts were worst hit as a large number of villages in these districts were submerged as rivers started overflowing.
Compensation
"Compensation for deaths is being provided and already ₹56 lakh assistance for 14 deaths has been released. Incessant rains over the past week has caused damage to crops and property. The assessment of damage will be conducted once the water recedes from the flooded regions," Patel stated. In view of the flood situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his visit, which was scheduled for July 20.

The Air Corps dumped more than 150,000 litres of water on Bray Head during a two-day operation to stop a wildfire that devastated sections of the popular hiking trail.
"When you think that everything you own is going to go up in flames, it's pretty scary," said one resident, looking on as, for the umpteenth time since the blaze took hold last Friday, the part-time firefighters dropped what they were doing and rushed out to help.
The damage of the past four days could have been more severe had it not been for their hard work, and the foresight of Mark Kopik. The landowner, anticipating the inevitable, cut fire breaks through the gorse in the hope that if a fire broke out, he could slow its pace. The goal was achieved.
Nonetheless the strength of the fire, and particularly the strength of the south and southwest winds on Saturday, saw the blaze spread and devour virtually all the growth on the southern slope of Bray Head.
Comment: It seems the increasingly erratic weather patterns which brought a brutally cold and wet winter, followed by epic flooding in spring, is now bringing heatwave and drought conditions throughout Europe, and is contributing to a year on year increase in widlfires; that, and the erroneous environmentalism which has banned controlled fires:
- Wildfire the size of 50 football pitches breaks out in "tinder dry" New Forest, UK
- European wildfire numbers explode in 2017: Season average for hectares burned increases four or five-fold

Comment: Volcanic and seismic activity around the world are on the increase and it seems nowhere can be considered safe: Geologists discover London sitting on two serious fault lines, capital at risk of dangerous earthquake
Other recent quakes of note in the UK:
- 3rd earthquake in less than 14 days hits Surrey, UK - Same area as April's quakes (5th July 2018)
- Second quake in 2 days strikes Surrey, UK - M2.4 rattles houses (29th June 2018)
- North of England hit by 3.9 magnitude earthquake (10 June 2018)
