Nearly a dozen earthquakes shook parts of Yellowstone National Park in just 24 hours on Friday, May 29. The US Geological Survey reported 11 quakes in West Yellowstone Montana, with tremors ranging from 1.6 to 3.1 magnitude on the Richter scale
The 3,472 square mile park known for its wildlife and geothermal features, sits on a supervolcano, which if it erupts may cause devastation on Earth and even change the planet's climate.

Eleven earthquakes occurred in 24 hours in an area close to Yellowstone National Park last week with the strongest one measuring 3.1 on Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey. The other quakes in West Yellowstone in Montana ranged between 1.6 to 3.1 on the scale and were almost three miles deep. According to website Earthquake Track, which has been monitoring tremors worldwide since 1990, the same area saw 34 earthquakes in the past 30 days.

Such an abundance tremors is not unusual as Yellowstone National Park is one of the most seismically active areas in the United States, with approximately 700 to 3,000 earthquakes occurring there each year. However, most of them are not felt.

3 dead after floods and landslides in wake of Storm Amanda in Honduras

Three people have died and communities left isolated after the remnants of the tropical storm Amanda brought heavy rain and strong winds to parts of Honduras.

The country has experienced a spate of severe weather since mid-May. Further severe weather in the country from 26 to 28 May caused 2 fatalities.

In the latest events, over 900 people from 225 families have been affected in 10 departments after heavy rain from storm Amanda triggered flooding and landslides between 29 May and 01 June.

The country's disaster agency - Permanent Commission of Contingencies (Copeco) - reported that the worst hit areas are in the departments of Olancho, Valle, Francisco Morazán, Lempira, Ocotepeque, Copán and La Paz. Bridges and roads have been damaged or destroyed, leaving some communities isolated.

Farmers up north are counting the cost of a freak hail storm on Sunday that has all but destroyed this year's fruit harvest. Estimates so far point to over €20 million in damages in just one borough.

As the Algarve suffered simply a cloudy afternoon that 'looked like rain', areas around Viseu and Fundão, Castelo Branco, Belmonte, Covilhã and Penamacor experienced the full horror of hail, driving rain and wind.

Motorways were brought to a halt, there was localised flooding, but worst of all was the damage to this year's fruit crops, including vines.

This was actually the 3rd time in four early summers that the north has been hit by devastating, short-lived storms.

IMD predicts heavy rainfall and strong winds with a speed of 90-100 kmph in the coastal districts of Maharashtra and Gujarat on June 3
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that Nisarga Cyclone, which has turned into a depression in the Arabian Sea, will hit Maharashtra and Gujarat on June 3.

According to a Hindustan Times report, since 1891, no weather system has turned into a cyclone and made landfall near Mumbai or along the Maharashtra coast during June.

Which means that Nisarga Cyclone could be the first tropical cyclone in 129 years to hit Maharashtra in the month of June.

The Nisarga cyclonic storm is brewing in the Arabian sea near Lakshadweep at the moment.

Experts quoted in the report said that only two depression, 1948 and 1980, have come close but never turned into a tropical cyclone during June as per records.

Once this system intensifies into Cyclone Nisarga, it will be the second cyclone over North Indian Ocean this season this year, the first being Cyclone Amphan.

Several parts of Mancherial district continue to register untimely rains coupled with strong gales for the second day on Sunday, causing losses to farmers drenching paddy produce in procurement centres.

Dandepalli, Mancherial, Mandamarri, Bellampalli, Nennal, Bheemini, Kannepalli, Tandur, Kotapalli, Chennur, Vemanapalli, Kasipet, Hajipur, and Luxettipet mandals saw light to moderate rains, recording somewhere between 15.6 mm and 64.4 mm of rainfall. Jannaram, Naspur, Dandepalli and Jaipur mandals witnessed light showers.

Due to the rains accompanied by gales, paddy produce shifted to several procurement centres was damaged. Poles were also collapsed and trees were uprooted, hitting supply of electricity for a few hours. The power was restored by 9 pm. The rains also damaged mango orchards, inflicting losses to growers.

Four goats died after being stricken by lightning at Choutapalli village in Tandur mandal.
However, the showers brought down maximum temperatures in the district bringing respite to the public who were struggle to cope with the scorching heat wave conditions.

A six-year-old girl died after she was mauled by stray dogs and hospitals refused to treat her.

The dog attack took place in the Chengicherla area after a labourer youngest daughter was attacked by hungry dogs.

Hospital after hospital refused to admit her and referred her to another hospital after first aid. The girl died at Niloufer Hospital, where she was finally admitted.

The police said she was attacked by stray dogs around 11 am that left her severely injured. Her parents took her to a private hospital where her wounds were cleaned.
