dog attack
Tryphinah Mngomezulu died last week Saturday.

Police spokesperson Donald Mdlhuli says Mngomezulu's body was discovered by her employers at a home where she apparently worked as domestic worker.

"The team has so far managed to make some progress in the investigation, one being the confiscation of a CCTV footage. Police would like to refute suggestions that there was load shedding during the time of the incident.

"The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has already been contacted and from the details received by the investigators, the concerned dogs which allegedly attacked and killed the woman were put down on Sunday, 3 March 2024."

Firenado or fire tornado in Primorsky Krai, Russia

MMMMM
Natural fires have been raging in the Primorsky Territory for several days. According to the regional emergency rescue department, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to residential buildings in the Khasan district. The operational headquarters of Primorye decided to triple the forces and means to fight the fire, in connection with which additional tankers were allocated and guards were also deployed in five more fire departments.

Meanwhile, RIA Novosti reported that two natural fires covering an area of 363 hectares are being extinguished near the villages of Khasan and Gvozdevo. Fortunately, there is no threat to populated areas. A video circulating on the international web shows a fiery tornado that miraculously did not spread to populated areas.

A marine mystery has researchers searching for answers in the Lower Florida Keys.

Since December, 20 critically endangered smalltooth sawfish have been reported dead, according to the latest numbers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

"This is a very large species and the size of the sawfish we're seeing coming inshore and eventually dying," said Gil McRae, director of FWC's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.

And while smalltooth sawfish are the only species reported dead, they are not the only ones seeing an impact.

"That's not something I've ever seen fish do...ever," said Gregg Furstenwerth, a resident of Little Torch Key.

A tourist on a skiing holiday in Europe has been attacked by a bear.

The Danish skier was injured in a bear attack at a nature park in North Macedonia, in an area where authorities say mild winters have led to a surge in the brown bear population.

The skier was taken to a hospital in the western city of Tetovo, said Stojance Angelov, head of the country's state-run Crisis Management Centre.

He suffered injuries to his left leg in the attack that took place in the Shar Mountain area.

Mild winters in recent years have caused bears to cut short or skip hibernation, leading to a surge in their population and increased sightings in urban areas.
