For several weeks, scientists of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) have been detecting acoustic underwater signals that bear signatures of underwater explosions and were now able to pinpoint their source to the Ahyi seamount, located in the Pacific about 6,100 km (3,800 miles) west of Honolulu.
If the suspicion is true, the volcano's eruption likely started in mid October when the signals appeared. Ships in the area are advised to avoid the area and be cautions in case the eruption or its products including steam, floating pumice rocks, gasses etc reach the surface.
Crank up the lake-effect fire hose.
A concentrated plume of heavy lake-effect snow dumped 18.5 inches of snow so far this week near Hovland, east of Grand Marais along Minnesota's North Shore.
Snowfall reports are still coming in and snow is still falling in some areas, but several locations along the North Shore have already received between 6 and 14 inches of snow.
Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation posted on their Facebook group that they have received a significant number of birds in recent days and one of them was a hummingbird. But not just any hummingbird. It is a first for Saskatchewan - a "Costa's Hummingbird" which is from the southwest portion of North America.
They are trying to find a way to get him back to the southwest as soon as possible.
The bird was caught in a garage where it had been sheltering from the elements for over a week.

Three ewes and nine lambs were discovered dead after being struck by lightning beneath a totara tree on an Ōhingaiti farm last week.
Twelve sheep carcases lay beneath a totara tree, consisting of three ewes and nine lambs.
All lay spread out around the tree, and it was believed they were struck by lightning after taking shelter during a large thunderstorm.
Margaret Goodwin said she had consulted her local vet and fellow farmers around their community but the incident was a first for them.
Tasmania Police said snow had settled at Vinces Saddle on the Huon Highway, about 200 metres lower than initially forecast.
Parts of kunanyi/Mt Wellington have also experienced snowfall.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Michael Conway said snow was possible in elevated parts across the warning areas, including the south and south-east, lower east coast, southern midlands and central plateau.
He said this was likely to cause cooler temperatures throughout the morning.
The deceased, identified as R. Illaiyaraja, 38, P. Sanjay, 18, and P. Sanjana, 16, died of severe burns.
According to the police, the incident occurred when Sanjay and Sanjana, who were siblings, were returning from school with their uncle Illaiyaraja on a two-wheeler amid heavy downpour.

A 15-foot oarfish — thought to be a harbinger of impending earthquakes — washed ashore in Chile.
Locals were flabbergasted after a 15-foot oarfish — which is rumored to be a sign of impending earthquakes — drifted ashore on a beach in Chile. A video of the alleged oceanic bad omen is currently making waves online as viewers worry about a possible seismic event, Jam Press reported.
The massive oarfish — which is the world's largest bony fish, capable of growing to 56 feet long — washed up on the coast of Isla Talcán in Chile's Desertores Islands. Footage captured the tremor-predicting denizen of the deep, which has silver scales, a fiery orange head tassel and a dorsal fin traversing its body from head to tail.
This sighting was particularly rare given that the species generally reside at depths between 656 and 3,200 feet below the ocean's surface. In fact, many people believe that oarfish strandings are signs that an earthquake is around the corner.

Flash flooding has also struck in parts of neighbouring Victoria state, where over 50 people have been rescued. Severe weather including strong winds has left thousands without power in South Australia, while heavy rain and flooding are forecast for Tasmania in the coming days.
New South Wales
New South Wales State Emergency Services (NSW SES) said widespread rainfall and thunderstorms led to dangerous flash flooding.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) issued a severe weather warning for areas of the Central Western Region of New South Wales, including heavy rainfall and flash flooding for towns of Eugowra, Derribong and Canowindra.

One of the weekend’s lightning strikes over Pinkertons Plains in SA on Saturday.
- A perfect mix of thunderstorm-producing ingredients lined up over Australia on the weekend:
- A cold pool of air swept across southern Australia with the passage of a cut-off upper-level low
- This cold air clashed with a much warmer and moisture-laden air mass sitting over the Australian continent
- These contrasting air masses caused the atmosphere to become very unstable and allowed a powerful stream of upper-level winds to develop over Australia
A series of surface-based low pressure troughs provided the trigger mechanisms for widespread thunderstorms to develop
