A combination of Victoria's recent dry weather and Wednesday's strong winds have caused a significant amount of dust unearthed and displaced across the city.
A severe weather warning has been issued due to a strong cold front which will cross Victoria this morning and early afternoon.

Tropical Storm Sanba was acquired from the VIIRS instrument aboard NASA-NOAA's Suomi NPP satellite as it continued moving over the Philippines.
Tropical Storm Sanba slammed the east coast of the main southern island of Mindanao Tuesday with gusts of 75 kilometres an hour.
The heavy rain triggered landslides that hit mountain villages outside the mining town of Carrascal -- 760 kilometres south of the capital Manila -- killing four people, municipal police chief James Alendogao told AFP.
"These areas are currently inaccessible and we do not know the extent of the damage," he added.
The state weather service said the storm was expected to move swiftly northwest over the next 24 hours, bringing moderate to heavy rain across the central Philippines.

While the hailstorm was particularly intense over the weekend, parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada had also reported thunderstorms since Monday.
Not just that, the heavy rainfall has destroyed most of the winter crop that was ready to be harvested.
On February 7, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an advisory stating the possibility of hailstorm in parts of Maharashtra. However, the MET officials stated that this was just an advisory issued at a very primary stage but not a warning.
Taking a serious note based on the advisory issued by MET, the state government on Saturday(February 10) had warned the farmers to be prepared for a hailstorm.
"It's been a good winter for business," says manager Scott Stockdill, noting he's sold out of snow blowers, not to mention shovels. Even his stock of toboggans is running low.
It's been a good winter for snow in this community of 9,800, at least to date, as Stockdill can attest.

The earthquake activity returns after a magnitude 6 quake struck 10km deep off the Northern Mariana Islands. No immediate tsunami warning was triggered.
The Northern Mariana Islands have a population of 55,023 while Guam had 162,742 people living on the island in 2016.
Comment: Could it be related to scientists' prediction that there will be an upsurge in major earthquakes for 2018 due to slowdown in Earth's rotation?

Comment: Sinkholes and landslides are occurring with greater frequency all over the world and there is never much of a valid explanation forthcoming. But when we take into account the greater picture we can see it is one part of a series of changes happening on our planet:

Crickets have arrived in their thousands "like a scary movie scene", and they aren't afraid of making a racket.
Some have had their homes invaded by the noisy insects, while others have experienced crickets pounding down on their rooves with a sound like heavy rain.
Steff and Bill Shepherd described a "cricket explosion" in Dargaville.
"The ground is alive with them late afternoon onwards. Some are sizeable, and ping on the roof and walls and windows," they said in a Neighbourly post.
"It's like small gravel thrown at the house."
Confirming the deaths, Tumsar Range Forest Officer A R Joshi said, "Over 460 parakeets nestled over a peepal tree perished in the hailstorm between 8 pm and 8.30 pm. The hailstones were weighing about 50 gm each."
"Problem was compounded for the birds by the honey bees that started attacking the birds when their comb also came down due to the hailstones impact. Many of the bees also died in the storm," Joshi added.
