lightning
A couple has died after being struck by lightning in Mangochi district.

Mangochi Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Amina Daudi has identified the two as Yusuf Mbalako, 66, and his wife Annie Akibu, 56, both from Chilinda village, Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi.

Daudi told Malawi24 that the two went to their garden which is few meters away from their house and whilst there rainfall started.

They decided to return home but suddenly a lightning struck them on the way and were pronounced dead at Makanjira Health Centre.

Swimmers try to push the whale out to sea, but it was already dead
A brave attempt by about 20 beachgoers to save a whale in distress at Seals Beach in Cape St Francis ended disappointingly when it was discovered that the whale was already dead.

The whale had been stranded in shallow water about 100m from the shore.

Residents and holidaymakers had flocked to the beach in droves as word spread about the distressed whale.

Bayworld marine mammal curator Dr Greg Hofmeyr said the whale was probably of the Bryde's species.

As a man, identified only as Ryan, and a friend waded into the surf to try to save the whale by pushing it into deeper water, they were quickly joined by other men, women and children.

But NSRI members who arrived shortly afterwards urged them to get out of the water because it was dangerous. Onlookers on the shore then started chanting "shark, shark, shark", which had the desired effect, with those in the water all out within minutes.

Resembling a scene from 'The Day After Tomorrow': Chilly winter turns Michigan lighthouse into frozen castle

It's been really, really cold in some parts of the country this week (don't say we didn't warn you) but one side effect has been some incredible images like this lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan, along the southwest shores of Lake Michigan.

Another terrific video, captured by photographer Joshua Nowicki gives you an even closer look at the frozen castle that looks straight out of a fairy tale.

Lightning bolt kills 2 children and injures 3 others in central Tanzania

lightning
Lightning killed at least two children from the same family and injured three others in Tanzania's central region of Dodoma, authorities said on Sunday.

Oreiness John, a Mlinduzi ward councilor in Mpwapwa District, said the incident occurred on Saturday evening in Chaludewa village when the two children were playing near their home.

He said while the youngsters were playing, a storm, which was accompanied with lightning, hit the village located 150km from Tanzania's capital Dodoma.

"There was no rain, but the storm was very strong to the extent that parents who were inside the house were forced to come out. When they came out they found the two children already dead," the local official said, adding that the injured were rushed to Chipogolo Health Centre for treatment.

Colima volcano in Mexico erupts three times in one day

Colima Volcano
Mexico's Colima Volcano has sent three eruptions in the space of a few hours, spewing ash and vapour more than a mile into the air.

The civil defence office of that western state of Jalisco says the three eruptions occurred Sunday morning. The biggest columns of ash reached 1.25 miles (2 kilometres) in height, and the smallest was just under a mile tall.

Video showed a large explosion around 9 p.m. Saturday night (0200 GMT Sunday) with glowing lava, smoke and ash shooting from the volcano in front of a starlit, night sky.

An earlier explosion sent a large plume of ash and smoke some 2,000 meters (4,921 feet) into the air around 4 p.m. (2200 GMT).

SOTT Earth Changes Summary - November 2016: Extreme Weather, Planetary Upheaval, Meteor Fireballs

Wildfire in Haifa, Israel, November 2016
With liberal elites going into meltdown last month over 'Trumpocalypse', the stewards of empire are rapidly losing whatever grip they once had on reality. At the same time, with extreme weather event after extreme weather event impacting every region on Earth, it's as if this descent into madness is being marked every step of the way by Mother Nature. Disastrous climatic events in November 2016 included:
  • Snow, hail and flooding in the deserts of Saudi Arabia (again)
  • New Zealand's second strongest tremor in the modern era
  • Johannesburg's worst flash-flood in living memory
  • Another powerful quake (and another tsunami) off Fukushima, Japan
  • Outbreak of 'thunder asthma' in Melbourne, Australia, which killed 8 people and sent another 8,500 to hospital
  • The latest Atlantic Hurricane in the modern era (and the most southerly, and the first to ever make landfall in Costa Rica)
  • Unprecedented 'superfires' torching swathes of the US Southeast
Those are just some of the more 'unusual' events in our latest Earth Changes Summary video, which also includes the other more 'normal' stuff: monster sinkholes swallowing multiple cars, people and homes - deluges washing away more homes, cars and people - massive meteor fireballs panicking people into thinking aliens have invaded - destructive tornadoes touching down in the capitals of Rome and South Africa - record November snowfalls in parts of northern US, northern China, and northern Europe...

We are, of course, being facetious. There's nothing normal about any of this. We've entered a new global climate. Forecasting models are largely redundant at this point. The costs from all this destruction pile up ever higher with each passing month. Until now, elites have either ignored the climate/planetary upheaval, or blamed ordinary people for causing one or another symptom, then carried on milking taxpayers and spreading wars. No doubt, given recent patterns, they're soon going to start blaming it all on Putin.

These were (some of) 'the signs' in November 2016...

Shallow 4.5 magnitude earthquake recorded south of Hawaii Island

Hawaiian Volcano Observatory

An offshore magnitude-4.5 earthquake south of Hawaii Island happened at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

The earthquake was centered about 37 miles south of Ka Lae (South Point) at a depth of 22.7 miles.

The earthquake was felt on the island, receiving over 50 reports within an hour of the earthquake. Weak shaking was reported across the island. At that intensity, damage to buildings or structures is not expected.

Sunday's earthquake occurred about 43 miles southwest of Lo'ihi, and was not caused by activity on that submarine volcano. The depth, location, and recorded seismic waves of the earthquake suggest a source due to bending of the oceanic plate from the weight of the Hawaiian island chain, a common source for earthquakes in this area. Aftershocks are possible and could be felt.

The earthquake caused no detectable changes in Kilauea Volcano's ongoing eruptions, on Mauna Loa, or at other active volcanoes on the island.

6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Peru

An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude struck in Peru today near the border with Brazil but no damage was reported, the government said.

The earthquake hit 100 kilometers (60 miles) southeast of the town of Esperanza at a depth of 550 kilometers, the Geophysical Institute of Peru said.

Deeper earthquakes like this one tend to cause less damage than ones that hit closer to the surface of the earth.

Civil defense authorities said that so far no injuries or damage had been reported, the state news agency Andina said.

Esperanza, with a population of 4,500, is on the banks of the Purus River and close to the border with Brazil.
