The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a crew member from a fishing vessel after a shark attack about 35 miles southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana on Friday.
The Coast Guard sector in New Orleans received a call at about 12:51 a.m. from personnel aboard the Moon Glow vessel.
According to personnel, a 64-year-old crew member sustained a severe leg injury from the attack. The man was reportedly untangling fishing nets from the vessel's propeller when he fell overboard and was attacked.

A man has died after being attacked by a shark off Australia's eastern coast.
Surfers, bystanders and paramedics tried to give him CPR, but he had a critical arm injury and could not be revived.
The attack occurred off Shelly and Emerald beaches in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales - about 330 miles (530km) north of Sydney.
Beaches in the area were busy at the time of the incident on Sunday, as families celebrated Father's Day in the country.
Aaron Armstrong, who saw what happened, said it was the first shark attack in the community that he and other locals knew of.
He added: "[We were] just out in the surf and we just saw a few people getting out of the water and we were pretty excited to be honest because we were like 'yes, less people in the water'.

The two took their boat out during a thunderstorm to fish in the Teesta River early Monday morning
Two men were killed in a lightning strike incident while they were out fishing during a thunderstorm in the Teesta River in Rangpur.
The incident took place near Char Cholisshal village at Lakkhitari union in Gangachara upazila early Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mokhlesur Rahman, 28, and Manu Miah, 32, of Kalicharan village in Gojoghonta union under the same upazila, confirmed Lakkhitari UP Chairman Abdullah Al Hadi.
Ida was the fifth-most powerful storm to hit the US when it reached Louisiana on Sunday as a category four hurricane, bringing maximum sustained winds of 150mph and causing tens of billions of dollars in damage. Most of the confirmed deaths have been in New Jersey and New York.
At least 64 people have died in the US after the country's northeastern states were battered by record-breaking rainfall brought by Storm Ida.
The deaths include at least four people who died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Louisiana, two dead in Mississippi after torrential rain caused a highway to collapse, and a number of people killed after their cars were swept away by floods - one of them a Connecticut state trooper.

A buffalo gave birth to a rare two-headed calf in Rajasthan's Pura Sikrauda village of Dholpur district. The newborn calf has two necks, two mouths, four eyes and four ears.
As soon as the calf was born it became the centre of attraction in the village as locals flocked to take a look at the animal themselves.
Veterinarian Gudde Singh said the buffalo gave birth to the calf without the help of any specialist. He added that the calf is completely healthy and is being taken care of in a normal matter. However, the villagers are still regarding it as a curious specimen.

A 27-foot gray whale has washed ashore on Samoa Beach near the Samoa Drag Strip.
Stranding Coordinator for the Marine Mammal Stranding Program Allison Lui told the Outpost that the female, subadult whale was reported to be dead when it first washed up on the beach Tuesday evening.
"We were able to conduct an external exam and collect samples yesterday," Lui said. "Sample analysis takes some time so the results are not available just yet, but we will be coordinating with our partners at the West Coast Marine Mammal Stranding network to confirm our findings in the near future."
Flash floods triggered by torrential rains in a village in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara early Saturday have left at least two people dead and one still missing, the country's National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said.
The agency also said that at least 26 residents in Inerie village in Ngada district were forced to leave their houses following the disaster, and no less than five residential houses were reportedly washed away by the floods.
"This phenomenon was triggered by high-intensity rains on Saturday morning, at 00.00 local time," the agency's acting spokesperson Abdul Muhari said on Saturday.
Local authorities are currently searching for the missing person in the accident.

Number of Flash Flood Warnings issued by the NWS offices across Colorado per month and year
It's no secret that there have been multiple occasions where flooding has wreaked havoc across Colorado over the years. This year, that especially rings true. Although the year is not over yet, the number of flash flood warnings that have been issued across Colorado has already shattered the previous record set in 2013.
So far in 2021, there have been 282 flash flood warnings issued across the state. The 10-year average is just over 100 flash flood warnings issued annually, so this year has more than doubled and is close to tripling the "normal" number statewide. In 2012, a year with a rather extreme drought, there were only 62 flash flood warnings issued across the state. Inversely, the following year, 2013, saw a then-record 176 warnings.
