Adapt 2030 Ice Age Report: Underwater volcano eruption & Typhoon Lekima same day Taiwan

At 5:30 am a 6.0 earthquake hit off the Taiwan coast under a stratavolcano beneath Turtle Island (GuiShan Island). Interestingly that seemed to signal an underwater volcanic eruption at the same time Typhoon Lekima neared the island. Is it an Earth - Sun electrical connection? The Ionosphere Map shows nothing unusual but when three typhoons form over the western Pacific and earthquakes are popping off all over the place at he the same time perhaps we should look to the electromagnetic coupling between the Sun and Earth for causation. Check out the Disaster Prediction App.

Climate Revolution is a 'Must Read' for understanding our Sun driven climate as we progress deeper into the new Eddy Grand Solar Minimum. Weather extremes leading to Global food scarcity and high food prices are here now, and this book describes the expected changes, how to survive & thrive during future challenging times with practical preparations.

Floods brought by heavy rains and overflowing rivers across large swathes of western and southern India have killed at least 33 people and forced the evacuation of 180,000 from their homes, officials said on Thursday (Aug 8).

Seasonal monsoon rains from June to September cause deaths and mass displacement across South Asia every year, but they deliver more than 70 per cent of India's rainfall, crucial for farm output and economic growth.

The tally of dead in the floods was 25 in the western state of Maharashtra by Thursday, officials said, while government data in the neighbouring southern state of Karnataka showed eight dead.

'Mystery illness' strikes Dutch wild boar

The boar are popular with visitors
As many as 70 wild boar have died of an unexplained illness at a nature reserve in the eastern Netherlands.

Only about 20 boar die of disease in the Hoge Veluwe reserve annually, but the figure so far this year is more than triple that, the Omroep Gelderland public broadcaster reports.

Erik Koffeman of the Gelderland Wildlife Management Department says the death rate is "unprecedented - experts have never seen anything like this before".

Wild boar are allowed to live in only a few parts of the country, in case they cause damage or disrupt traffic, and the Hoge Veluwe reserve alone has a population of more than 6,000, according to the local De Stentor newspaper.

China issues 'red alert' as super typhoon Lekima approaches

Typhoon Lekima

Typhoon Lekima was expected to dump 90cm (35m inches) on parts of Taiwan before hitting mainland China early on Saturday.

Strongest storm in five years has already cancelled 300 flights and cut power to 40,000 homes in Taiwan

China's weather bureau issued a red alert as super typhoon Lekima approaches Zhejiang province on the eastern coast, after forcing flight cancellations in Taiwan and shutting markets and businesses.

The National Meteorological Centre said the typhoon, the strongest since 2014, was expected to hit the mainland in early on Saturday and then turn north. It has issued gale warnings for the Yangtze river delta region, which includes China's financial hub of Shanghai, a city of 26 million people.

Taiwan has already cancelled flights and ordered markets and schools to close on Friday as the typhoon headed northwest, cutting power to more than 40,000 homes and forcing the island's high-speed rail to suspend most of its services.

The island's authorities issued landslide warnings after an earthquake of magnitude 6 struck its northeastern coast on Thursday, hours before the typhoon approached. It was forecast to bring rainfall of up to 90cm (35 inches) in its northern mountains.

What would have been a bumper Taber corn harvest has been reduced to mush by a vicious hailstorm.

Jenn Molnar and other family members took shelter in the basement of their home when the nine-minute onslaught descended on their farm at Barnwell east of Lethbridge on Tuesday night.

They emerged to a scene of total devastation that will mean a near-total loss for them and frustration for corn-lovers who crave their sweet cobs every August and September.

"We were completely wiped out," said Molnar.

"The Taber corn crops are gone, there's nothing left for this year."

Shallow magnitude 6.0 earthquake strikes northeastern Taiwan, leaves one dead

quake
An elderly woman in New Taipei apparently died after a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck northeastern Taiwan at 5:28 a.m. Thursday, according to the city's fire department.

The earthquake, with its epicenter at sea about 36.5 kilometers southeast of Yilan County Hall at a depth of 22.5 km, also caused delays to five south-bound trains operated by Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp., affecting 2,500 passengers.

Shortly after the temblor, President Tsai Ing-wen activated the emergency response mechanism set up after she took office in 2016.

After receiving briefings from the National Security Council, Tsai posted a message on her Facebook and other social media platforms reassuring the public that no major damage or casualties had been reported as a result of the earthquake.
