According to the area executive secretary, Emmanuel Mutuyimana of Bwishyura sector, the three were struck dead while they tried to harvest rainwater.
It should be recalled that recently the ministry of disaster (MIDAMAR) revealed that research on high capacity lightning rods would be completed by the end of June this year arguing that an average of one person every day, especially during heavy rains or above normal rains, is usually killed by thunderstorms.
In the latest incident, three men who had taken shelter at a temple amid rain died after the lighting struck the temple in Chorhata area of Rewa district on Saturday afternoon. The three men aged between 30 and 35 years, who died have been identified as Dinesh Pandit, Harish Bunkar and Umesh Kol.

Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon spews a 1.5-kilometer high ash column in a steam-driven or phreatic explosion
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) in Sorsogon, the phreatic explosion occurred at approximately 4:54 p.m. Friday, and lasted for close to four minutes.
The dark gray ash plume expelled by the volcano drifted towards the northeast, causing ash to fall in Casiguran, Juban, Barcelona, and Gubat.
Alert Level 1, indicating abnormal activity, remains over Bulusan Volcano, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in its 6 p.m. notice.
This indicates that hydrothermal processes are underway beneath the volcano, which may lead to more steam-driven eruptions, the agency said.
It also reminded the public not to enter the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ).
As our evening anchor, Brooke Lennington, has mentioned on-air before, her family is from Goodland and still lives there. She passed along a photo from her mother's home in Goodland that suffered serious damage from the hail that combined with high winds.

According to Press of Atlantic City, the whale was previously spotted off the coast of Strathmere earlier in the day. The humpback whale's cause of death is still unknown, but Bob Schoelkopf said that the animal could not have been attacked by a shark or any predator because there were no visible bite marks.
Schoelkopf believes that the young animal may have been ill or its mother died. Officials say that the young male humpback whale could have been dead for four or five days before it washed up on the beach, Ocean City Patch reports.

It was not clear how the dolphin in the latest incident had died.
According to Universiti Sains Malaysia marine biologist Dr Aileen Tan, it was common for turtles to choke on plastic refuse, thinking that these were jellyfish.
The lowest point of ice coverage was reached on September 10, National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) revealed after studying satellite data. The frozen layer on that day stood at 4.14 million square kilometers (1.60 million square miles), compared to the lowest record reached on September 17, 2012 when the satellites registered 3.39 million square kilometers (1.31 million square miles).
The September 10 reading was the second lowest recorded level of Arctic ice in the 37-year satellite record bookkeeping. The third lowest reading was recorded on September 18, 2007, at 4.15 million square kilometers (1.60 million square miles).

The UN World Meteorological Organization announced that France held the record for longest-lasting lightning bolt, with a flash of 7.74 seconds
At a little over seven seconds France's lasts the longest but America's is by far the biggest.
The UN World Meteorological Organization on Friday announced that France held the record for longest-lasting lightning bolt, with a flash on August 30, 2012 in the southeast of France lighting up the sky for a full 7.74 seconds.
The horizontal bolt travelled 200 kilometres (125 miles), the WMO's Rapporteur of Weather & Climate Extremes, Randall Cerveny, told AFP.
"It was a "cloud-to-cloud" discharge," Cerveny said.
France was bested, however, in the distance stakes by the US.
A lightning strike on June 20, 2007 in the state of Oklahoma covered a distance of 321 kilometres, the WMO said.
