Video of the distressing attack shows the child sobbing in pain as the German shepherd and Rottweiler pull at his legs, while his gran clutches his body to prevent him being dragged down the street.
According to the man who shot the video, dozens of passers did nothing to intervene as the two large dogs pushed the child to the ground and began biting his legs and backside.
After recording the footage for evidence, he is then said to have kicked the animals eventually causing them to loosen their grip and run away.
The renowned Halley VI ice base, from which the hole in the ozone layer was first detected, has already been relocated 14 miles across the Brunt Ice Shelf because of an encroaching fissure in the ice.
But another fracture in the floating ice shelf - dubbed the Halloween Crack - has been steadily growing to the north of the base since last year.
Crews were evacuated earlier this year, and today the BAS announced that, for safety reasons it will be closing its research station - Halley VIa - for the Antarctic winter, which runs between March and November.

A dead waterfowl is pictured at Woodbine Beach on Nov. 5, 2017. It was one of the approximately 30 deceased ducks discovered on the shoreline Sunday.
Toronto Animal Services removed the deceased wildlife and is working on determining the cause of death. Tests will take about two weeks to complete, the City said in a news release.
"All dog owners should ensure that dogs are leashed in Woodbine Park, including in the off-leash area, until the cause of death has been determined," the City said. "Dog owners are encouraged to contact their veterinarian if their dog was in the park on Sunday and is experiencing signs of illness."
Joanne Ingrassia, a volunteer with the Toronto Wildlife Centre, spent Sunday at Woodbine Beach, searching for surviving ducks to rescue.
The National Disaster Prevention Center (Cenapred), which monitors volcanic activity, said some 200 "low-intensity exhalations and three explosions" had taken place starting early Friday and ending early Saturday.
The last eruption, at 6:08 a.m., led to "a slight drop of ash" in the towns of Yecapixtla and Zacualpan, both in central Morelos state.
Located just 60 km south of the capital Mexico City, Popo, as the volcano is commonly known, has been off limits to mountain climbers since the long dormant volcano became active again in 1994.
Its last major eruption was in 1947.

The volcano had shown increased seismic activity marked by tremors since Thursday, said Farid, the head of Lokon's monitoring post.
Authorities have issued a waspada (Level II) alert level for the volcano.
"The tremors from Mt. Lokon suggest that gas and magma are migrating, which means pressure has been accumulating," Farid said on Saturday.
The Lokon monitoring post has been coordinating with the Tomohon Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) since Friday in taking preventive measures.
In its latest bulletin, Phivolcs said the quakes that rocked the volcano on Monday and the spewing of an above normal SO2 gas signify the volcano remains restive. SO2 emission was measured at 633 tons, which is significantly higher than the standard measurement of 500 per day
The volcanic quakes brings to 91 the total number of quakes that jolted Mount Mayon for the past two days.
When asked about the increasing SO2 emission, Phivolcs volcanologist Ed Laguerta said the abnormal emission could either be due to steam degassing or magma pressure beneath the volcano vent.
Denis Andre Dasoul, 34, was pronounced dead at Canggu Medika Hospital at around 2:45 PM on Sunday. That's where an ambulance took the victims after onlookers on the beach helped the duo to shore.
According to, and roughly translated from, the Bali Post, a witness on the scene said: "The condition of the victim's chest is blue and possibly died on the way to the hospital. While the instructor experienced blue on the left leg thigh."
Indonesian news outlet, Detik News, reports: "The locals went directly to the two, the instructor was saved but the first aid effort for Denis was in vain."
The incident occurred at Batu Bolong Beach, also known as Old Man's, located at the southern edge of Bali's Canggu region. Waves there are friendly for longboarders, SUPs, and beginners alike. It's also a highly popular tourist destination.

A flooded street in Hoi An yesterday. The spouses of world leaders who will attend the Apec summit in nearby Danang were set to visit the Unesco World Heritage Site later this week, but it is unclear whether the visit will proceed.
The weather system hit just days before Vietnam welcomes world leaders to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Danang, and has left several areas totally submerged in the worst flooding in years.
While Danang itself has not been seriously affected, heavy flooding has hit Hoi An, a Unesco World Heritage Site known for its unique blend of buildings, some dating back to the 15th century.
Large swathes of four central and southern provinces were submerged yesterday, officials said, with the death toll likely to rise further as the search for at least 28 missing people got under way.
"We are facing a major threat in all the affected areas. All the lakes and rivers are full," Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said at an emergency meeting on Sunday, according to the state-controlled VNExpress. He added that flood levels were close to surpassing records set in 1997.
Some 30,000 people were evacuated and around 116,000 properties were submerged or damaged after the typhoon hit last Saturday. Restaurants and hotels in Hoi An were inundated with water, and tourists were evacuated from hotels on boats.
The whopping sinkhole, which has a stream running through it, emerged Sunday night after rain destroyed a temporary fix made at the site earlier in the week, reports WIVB.
The sinkhole is around 30ft (9 meters) wide, 60ft long and 16ft deep, according to crews working to stop the hole from getting bigger.
