Amber Phillips stands outside the family's safe room, located on their property in Moss, Mississippi, following a tornado that destroyed their home on Sunday
There were more than 60 reports of tornadoes as the storms that began on Easter Sunday tore a deadly and destructive path from Texas and Arkansas, across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia and into the Carolinas and Tennessee.
More than 1 million homes and businesses lost power as a result of the outbreak, according to poweroutage.us. On Monday, outages were the most significant in North and South Carolina, where nearly half a million customers had no electricity Monday morning, but every state from Texas to the mid-Atlantic was affected. High winds were responsible for outages in many areas not affected by tornadoes.
Saba news agency said 2 people died after being swept away by floods in the al-Sabeen district, one house collapsed and dozens of others were damaged. Vehicles were swept along the city's streets. Yemen Meteorological Services said the flooding had caused "massive destruction".
Saba, quoting local officials, added that "a family from Al-Batha neighborhood was rescued and transferred to a hospital in the capital, in addition to the evacuation of many families after the floods entered their homes in the neighborhoods of Qalfan, Al-Jarda, Al-Qadisiyah, Shumila and Hamraa Alab."
Shelly Island, off the tip of Cape Point in Buxton, appeared in January 2017, eventually measuring one mile length-ways and 400ft across. But it vanished in early 2018 after being battered by a series of storms.
The landmass is proving to be resilient, though. A few days ago beachgoers spotted a 98ft-long (30m) sandbar in roughly the same spot that Shelly occupied, with photographs showing birds sunning themselves on it.
The photos were posted on Sunday to the Facebook page of Cape Hatteras National Seashore, which is managed by the U.S. National Park Service and protects that stretch of coastline.
Officials said animal control officers were called to Sharon Rene Baldwin's home on March 28 in regards to the dog attack.
Baldwin was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, April 12.
According to officials, the investigation found that a man who lived in the home with the victim had found the dog a week before the attack. Officials said he was caring for the dog until its owner came forward. The relationship between the man and the woman is not known at this time.
Record cold and snowfall hit many parts of North America over the Easter weekend, continuing what has so far been a largely Arctic April.
Records were toppled across many U.S. states, with Montana, Iowa, South Dakota, and Colorado seemingly worst hit.
A winter storm system moved through Iowa on Sunday delivering between three inches and a foot to the majority of locations — several northern Iowa towns saw their all-time records tumble:
The 3.7 inches reported at Sioux Gateway Airport broke the record for April 12th; it also made it the second highest Easter snowfall ever behind the 4.7 inches during Easter 1929.
The town of Ringsted in Emmet County (also Iowa) came in with a record-busting 11 inches. Robert "Lightning" Petersen was the man to logged the new record — he uses his back yard to park measuring equipment to keep track of snowfall, and rainfall. He works in concert with the National Weather Service out of Johnston.
When the snow fell on Easter Sunday, he checked his 12-inch gauge and was shocked to discover the almost 1 foot total, reports whotv.com/news.
"I was flabbergasted because it was not a blizzard activity during the day," said Petersen. "But holy smokes, when I got that gauge up on the deck, it was plum full. I thought it can't be. I must be seeing things."

At Sodankylä, the record was broken today when the weather station recorded 125 centimetres of snow in the region. Although March across much of Finland was considerably milder than usual, Northern Finland has received greater amounts of snowfall, as has certain parts of Central Finland. Southern Finland, meanwhile, has experienced one of the mildest winters in recent memory.
Boulder also experienced record cold including a new record low daily high temperature of 27 degrees on April 13. The previous record was 38 degrees from 1945.
A low of 10 degrees on April 14 broke the daily record low of 14 degrees set in 2014.
