A seven-year-old girl was mauled to death by stray dogs in Rajasthan's Alwar, police officials said on Thursday. The incident took place while the girl was returning home on Wednesday evening, they said. The girl received multiple wounds on her body, officials added.
The locals working in the nearby fields saved the girl from the dog attack and took her to the hospital, where the doctors declared her dead, officials said.
Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission issued a notice to the Khairthal-Tijara district collector and municipality commissioner in connection with the incident. RSHRC Chairperson Justice G R Moolchandani has asked the authorities to submit a report on the incident by January 31 and compensate the victim's family.
The Commission termed the death of the girl, who suffered around 40 bite wounds, "shocking" and accused the authorities of not properly discharging their legislative responsibilities.

Wichita Falls police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child after a reported dog attack at a residence on Sunday night.
According to Sgt. Brett Keith, Public Information Officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department, officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Wesley Drive on Sunday, December 29, 2024, just after 5 p.m., in reference to a dog attack.
Sgt. Keith said information collected from the scene revealed that a dog "busted out of the kennel" and attacked a two-year-old child, resulting in the child suffering severe injuries.
According to Sgt. Keith, the two-year-old female child later passed away at the hospital.
Sgt. Keith said detectives with WFPD's Juvenile Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation. He said the investigation is ongoing.
No additional details have been released at this time.

A man has died after a shark attack off the Central Queensland coast.
Police were called to the Humpy Island camping area in the Keppel Bay Islands National Park, about 18 kilometres off the mainland, following reports that a man had been attacked.
The 40-year-old was fishing with family members when he was attacked about 4:37pm and sustained life-threatening injuries to his neck.
An emergency service helicopter was on the scene with paramedics.
Due to heavy rain on Sunday there were reports of flash flooding in the Bukit Timah neighborhood.
According to the national water agency PUB, many parts of Singapore experienced heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon. Due to high water levels in the adjacent drains and Bukit Timah Canal, flash floods started to occur around 5 pm along Dunearn Road and Bukit Timah Road near King Albert Park.
In a Sunday afternoon Facebook post, the agency stated, "PUB's Quick Response Teams were deployed ahead of the rain and later closed off affected lanes, directing traffic away from floodwaters." It was 20 minutes until the flash floods stopped.

Bujarar area in the municipality of Tokra in eastern Libya witnessed floods on Friday evening and Saturday morning, which caused damage to about 30 homes, without recording any injuries among citizens, according to what was reported by the Director of the Media Office of the Red Crescent, Tokra Branch, Mohammed Al-Dinali.
