Several houses in the East Slovak village of Petkovce in the Vranov nad Topľou district were damaged by a tornado that hit the area on Thursday evening. Meteorologists estimated the wind speed at 200 km / h. For comparison - the tornado, which raged in southern Moravia in June, had a speed of 219 km / h.

According to the Slovak media, no injuries occurred. There are 20 professional and volunteer firefighters on site, who mainly remove fallen trees and parts of roofs from local roads.

"The wind carried the sheets from the roofs about a hundred meters," the mayor of the village Pavol Hybala told the Korzár server. "You could see the vortex spinning and rising. It passed only the lower part of the village. It took a minute, but it caused a trigger, "he added.

A boa constrictor born with two heads is causing a stir in the southwestern German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.

The snake was born three months ago at the home of reptile breeder Stefan Broghammer in the town of Villingen-Schwenningen.

A snake with two heads is very rare. According to the breeder, the male is healthy and already a YouTube star.

In a video, Broghammer shows how both heads eat as they are each fed a white mouse.

For many people, the two-headed snake is reminiscent of Hydra, a many-headed snake-like monster in Greek mythology.

The boa species originally comes from South America.

The Pennsylvania State Police Newport Station reports 60-year-old Rhoda Wagner was found dead on the front lawn of her Miller Township home in Perry County with three Pit Bull Terriers running in the yard. Officials' investigation determined Wagner was alone at the time. The report continues to say she was attacked by the dogs for an unknown reason.

Fears of crop damage and impact on food supplies rise as forecaster reports more than 500mm of rain has fallen in three days

More than 1,100 homes in North Korea were damaged, thousands of people evacuated and farms and roads washed away after days of heavy rains brought flooding, state media reported.

The reports come as concern grows about damage to crops and the possible impact on food supplies in North Korea, which is cut off from most foreign imports and aid by self-imposed border restrictions aimed at preventing a coronavirus outbreak, as well as by international sanctions.

Heavy rain struck several areas on the east coast, including North and South Hamgyong provinces, state broadcaster KRT reported on Thursday.

Television footage showed homes flooded to their roofs, and bridges and dikes washed away.

A home is consumed by flames in the River Fire, a wildfire burning in Grass Valley, California, U.S., August 4, 2021.
A rapidly spreading wildfire burned homes and forced thousands to evacuate in two heavily wooded counties northeast of Sacramento in Northern California on Wednesday, generating a towering plume of smoke visible from at least 70 miles (110 km) away.

The so-called River Fire scorched 1,400 acres (566 hectares) in Placer and Nevada counties, with 1,000 acres burnt within the first two hours, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) said.

The River Fire was less than 100 miles (160 km) south of the enduring Dixie Fire, which according to Cal Fire has consumed 278,000 acres and was only 35% contained three weeks after it started.

Social media images showed the Dixie Fire on Wednesday had destroyed multiple structures in one section of Greenville, a town of about 800 people in Plumas County.
