Santiago Xalitzintla, Mexico - Mexico's Popocatepetl volcano spewed out huge clouds of ash and fiery rock overnight, closing a local airport on Saturday and frightening nearby villagers, already on edge after weeks of increased activity.

Popocatepetl, 50 miles southeast of Mexico City, shook with tremors that belched out four large plumes of ash on Friday night and Saturday morning, the National Center for Disaster Prevention said in a statement on Saturday.

The biggest expulsion shot an ash cloud 2.5 miles into the air and launched glowing rocks more than half a mile from the crater, the statement said.

Raul Arambula, a scientist collaborating with the government's disaster center, said the volcano threw out the most ash and fragments of red-hot rock since authorities raised the alert level last month.

"It was spectacular," Arambula said. "Of course, it makes you worry about everyone living nearby."

In Santiago Xalitzintla, a village about 6 miles from the volcano, the loud rumblings sent residents running to the town square during the night.

EPA Grossly Misrepresents The Toxicity Of Corexit Used In Gulf Of Mexico

Quite incredibly, the EPA issued a positive report on May 1, 2012 regarding the safety and toxicity of various dispersants used in the BP Gulf Oil Spill. Included in this assessment was the use of Corexit.

This report "indicated that all eight dispersants had roughly the same toxicity," and all fell into the "practically non-toxic" or "slightly toxic" category. Scientists found that none of the eight dispersants displayed endocrine-disrupting activity of "biological significance."

The same report went on to say that "dispersant-oil mixtures were generally no more toxic to the aquatic test species than oil alone."

The first question that jumps out for those who have researched this subject with any degree of thoroughness is how this recent report fails to reconcile with previous studies performed by the EPA.

Here is some test data retrieved from the EPA website that was posted previous to the BP Gulf Oil Spill.

The dispersant (Corexit 9500) and dispersed oil have demonstrated the following levels of toxicity per the EPA website link that follows:

(1) 10.72 parts per million (ppm) of oil alone will kill 50% of the fish test species in a normal aquatic environment within 96 hours.

(2) 25.20 parts per million of dispersant (Corexit 9500) alone will kill 50% of the fish test species in a normal aquatic environment within 96 hours.

(3) 2.61 parts per million of dispersed oil (Corexit-laden) alone will kill 50% of the fish test species in a normal aquatic environment within 96 hours.

This data diverges from the recent report to such a significant degree that the results which were just posted at the EPA.gov website under the title of "The BP Oil Spill: Responsive Science Supports Emergency Response" must be seriously scrutinized.

According to local authorities in north-eastern Takhar province at least 30 people were killed following flash floods in this province.

The officials further added Eshkamesh and Chal districts in eastern Takhar province were hit by floods and the rescue team have managed to recover dead bodies of at least 29 individuals.

Provincial governor Abdul Jabar Taqwa said a governmental delegation has been sent to the area to assess the situation and the rescue are still working to assist flood victims.

Mr. Taqwa further added the exact number of casualties are unknown and there fears that at least 50 people have been killed.

He also said Shera and Mandara villages in Eshkamesh district have suffered heavy casualties, adding that they have asked the natural disaster department in capital Kabul for assistance due to the lack of facilities in the area.

5.4 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Northeast India

An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude rocked the north-eastern part of India including Assam and Meghalaya on Friday, injuring two in a wall collapse. No casualties have been reported so far.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the earthquake struck at 6:11 pm around Jakhalabandha in Assam, about 150 km from the state capital Guwahati.

The earthquake triggered panic among people who fled out into the streets. Two persons in Kampur, Nagaon district, were injured when they fell from a building while attempting to flee. They were admitted to the Nagaon civil hospital and are reported to be out of danger.

A small RCC house was damaged completely in Bholbholia gaon in Kampur. The Kampur police station officer-in-charge H.C. Kalita said that there was no report on any major damage in the earthquake so far, a Telegraph report said.

Widespread floods in Kenya kill 15 as 50,000 left homeless

Nairobi - Seven school children are among 15 people who have drowned in the last two days as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc across the country. They were swept away by floods on their way to school, many of which have been ordered closed.

This came as more than 50,000 people in three villages in Elgeyo-Marakwet County were asked to leave their homes for fear of landslides.A team of geologists from the Ministry of Lands toured Kittony, Embobut and Kakisoo villages and directed residents to leave as the heavy rains had eroded the grounds, raising the chances of a landslide.

Two years ago, 15 people were killed in Kittony village and many other injured in a landslide.

Relief agencies warned on Thursday the heavy rains had displaced more than 50,000 people, and destroyed property worth millions of shillings.

In Malindi, about 90 families that had been marooned by floods in Madunguni since Tuesday were rescued on Thursday by the provincial administration and the Red Cross.An 11-year-old class four pupil drowned after a motorcycle taxi he was riding on was swept away by a swollen river in Hamisi district.

Windermere, Florida - The sinkhole in the backyard of a Windermere home that has attracted tourists and increased the home inspection business appears to be getting larger.

The sinkhole was originally estimated to be more than 100 feet across and 50 feet deep, and located about 3 feet from the back of a home at 4926 Indian Deer Road last week.

But when Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the home on Friday, the sinkhole appears to have grown larger. The sinkhole is now about 2 feet from the home.

Conway - A sport utility vehicle parked in a lot in North Conway Village fell into a sinkhole on Friday morning after the ground under the pavement became undermined.

An employee of Priscilla's Country Cafe left her blue 2007 Dodge parked in a space between the restaurant and the T.D. Bank office, but by 7:30 a.m., officials said, its passenger-side front tire had buckled the pavement.

The pavement under driver's side was also clearly undermined, Conway Police Sgt. Russell McLauchlan said, and it wasn't long before that side also fell into the three-foot deep hole. The vehicle sat perched, its front tires in the hole, its rear tires on the pavement, the undercarriage against the jagged edge of the pavement.

Tornado Hits Weimar, Texas

A tornado touched down in a small Southeast Texas town, damaging a hospital, derailing 25 cars of a freight train and injuring eight people in a high school parking lot.

The National Weather Service said the EF-1 tornado briefly touched down at Weimar High School, 506 West Main Street, at about 5:25 p.m.

"When I looked out the window, branches were snapping and I knew right away, this was a tornado coming," witness Levi Adame said.

A fundraiser was taking place at the school at the time of the storm and a Papa John's pizza trailer that was in the school parking lot as part of the event was toppled over. There were eight people inside the truck who had to be taken to the hospital. Most of their injuries were not serious and many of them have since been released from the hospital.

This is going to be a short blog post. As I am going to be short of table and a cheer for few more days.

It seems that Katla volcano is warming up for a eruption. As I did mention in last blog post. But there is more to this. As the glacier flood that started on the 28. April 2012 continues according to a email that I got from an geologist working at Iceland Meteorological Office. But that suggests two things. That there is currently an ongoing melting of glacier taking place in Katla volcano, or there is a slow drainage taking place from some area in Mýrdalsjökull glacier. But given increased conductivity following this it is clear that this water has been in contact with magma. But that can be seen with the increased conductivity in the water.

There have not been many earthquakes following this events. But from the earthquakes that have happened. It seems that most likely source for current events is close to or the same area that erupted in July 2011. But at the moment this is just speculation based on limited data. It has not been confirmed so far.

Chilean officials are asking fishermen to help save birds caught in nets after thousands of dead fowl appeared along coastal Chile this week.

At least 2,300 dead birds were found along beaches between Cartagena and Playa de Santo Domingo, Chile, said Jose Luis Britos, and environment professor and director of the Museum of Natural History of San Antonio, Chile.

Many of the birds, which come from several species, had broken wings and bruising on the outside of their bodies -- injuries consistent with getting trapped in fishing nets, Britos said.

He said bird deaths from fishing nets occur every year, but never at this level. In a typical year, about 15 to 20 dead birds are found, Britos said.

One hypothesis for the increase this year involves climate.

As Chilean weather gets colder this time of year, migrating birds that would normally travel north for warmth are instead lingering to feast on an influx of anchovies and sardines that had fled the coast of Peru in search of cooler waters.

Earlier this week, Peruvian authorities say warm waters off that country's coast are to blame for the deaths of more than 5,000 marine birds.

Of course it's over 90% black on Asian. Why? Because BFM set them up to do it, just like the St. George (Floyd) riots last year. If the poor SOB's...
