The heavy rain caused rivers to overflow, landslides and flash flooding in urban areas. In 24 hours to 14 June 2021, Panama City recorded 114.5 mm of rain and Pacora in Panamá District recorded 92.5 mm.
The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) reported at least 400 homes have been damaged across Panama, Panamá Oeste and Chiriquí Provinces. Some of the hardest hit areas are Tocumen and Pacora in Panamá District. Flight traffic was suspended at the international airport at Tocumen and flights were diverted to Cartagena, Colombia.

Yesterday morning, the residents of Mývatnssveit, Northeast Iceland, woke up to a snow-covered ground, and in Fáskrúðsfjörður, the East Fjords, it still snowed yesterday.
Óli Þór Árnason, meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office, states that although the snowfall wasn't heavy in low-lying areas, numerous areas from Eyjafjörður fjord in the north and all the way to the East Fjords saw either sleet or snow yesterday.

During the floods, at the end of May, an Environment Canterbury rain gauge in Mt Somers recorded its largest 48-hour rainfall ever, with 526mm. Another rain gauge about 10km away recorded 310mm in the same period.
National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) climate scientist Dr Trevor Carey-Smith said the long duration of the rainfall, not the short-term intensity of it, was exceptional.
"Most extreme rainfall only occurred in a relatively thin strip along the Canterbury foothills," Carey-Smith said.
The rainfall recorded at Mt Somers, Geraldine and Snowdon was on average only expected once every 200 years. Those rain gauges span an inland 100km stretch of the South Island.
The province received its first spell of monsoon rains on Saturday night.
Two others were injured and they are being treated at a hospital.
During the heavy showers, the wall of Kohlu assistant commissioner's house collapsed and roof collapses were reported in different parts of the district.
Many crops have been damaged too.

A sizeable waterspout was spotted off the southern coast of Vancouver Island this week as a vibrant rainbow arched overhead on June 9, 2021.
Locals took to social media to share images of the waterspout as it moved through the Strait of Georgia on Wednesday (June 9) morning. Some people said that there were more than one of the whirling columns of air and water mist moving across the region, too.
In a Facebook post on the Powell River Message Board, Julie Leon wrote that there were "lots of water spouts out there this morning." She also shared three images of waterspouts and one of them features a vibrant rainbow.
A pair (only 1 in this video by Kevin Knutsen) of waterspouts were spotted off the tip of Texada Island this morning at ~5:45am. A #Waterspout Watch remains in effect. Waterspouts are tornadoes over water and should be with the same precautions. #BCStorm pic.twitter.com/9FfWT3oes7
