What heatwave?! Violent storms, flash-flooding, mudslides pummel Europe

storm
Last week's intense heatwave across Europe turned into storms, torrential rain and heavy winds this weekend.

The most affected countries were Italy, Spain, Poland, France and Austria. Many areas are on high alert as water levels are rising to dangerous levels.

Barcelona saw more than 40 litres of rain per square metre fall in just in 30 minutes. Meteorologists say that the affected areas in France are to expect up to 100mm of rainfall by Sunday.

Heatwave superstition: The extreme heat in Europe has nothing to do with CO2 levels

In this video I show why people who try to link heatwaves and extreme weather to CO2 levels, are engaging in superstition (or worse) - not science.

Comment: History shows that the warmest US decade on record was the 1930s

We should prepare for extreme weather, but tying it to climate change is a mistake

Even if climate change were the source of extreme weather, Trudeau's signature carbon solution would be certain to fail

The harm caused by extreme weather merits a national action plan, whatever its cause and whether or not it is increasing in severity or frequency. Policies that only address climate change won't do the job.

Canadians are bombarded with images of forest fires, tornadoes and torrential rain, all attributed to manmade climate change. We are warned that these calamities will get much worse and that catastrophes will soon be irreversible unless we urgently reduce our carbon dioxide emissions.

Woman killed by lightning in Bolzano, Italy

A wave of bad weather killed at least three people in the central and northern part of Italy, according to Italian media reports on Sunday.

Some parts of the country experienced a sudden wave of storms and rains after scorching days.

A 27-year-old woman was killed after a strong wind lifted her car and smashed it against the road in Fiumicino town of Rome, the reports said.

A body belonging to a 72-year-old man was found near Arezzo city in eastern Tuscany, early Sunday. The man is thought to be lost due to the strong winds.

In the northern Italian city of Bolzano, a Norwegian woman (45), who was struck by lightning while taking part in a mountain race, died at the hospital.

As the heavy rains continued throughout the night, some subway stations and houses in Rome were also flooded, the reports added.

Wintery showers in Summer at Tan Hill Inn
Snow has been reported as falling in Yorkshire - in the same week as the hottest July day ever recorded.

Regulars at the Tan Inn watched as the white stuff began falling in North Yorkshire. The snow and hail flurries were captured from the CCTV at the pub near Richmond.

This week, the UK basked in temperatures in the 30s, which caused major disruption to transport links.

Reindeer hit the beach as temperatures soar in northern Finland

Reindeer in Rovaniemi, Finland cool down at the beach.
Finnish reindeer in the Christmas destination Lapland were pictured lying on the beach in a shaded spot to seek respite from abnormally high temperatures.

The two reindeer were pictured seeking solace from the soaring 28C weather at Ounaskoski beach, in Rovaniemi, Tuesday. Fellow beach-goers snapped pictures of the unlikely visitors as they cooled off in the shade.

"Many people took photos and it didn't seem to bother them in the slightest. Children were playing nearby and that didn't disturb them either," Johanna Koivisto told a local news outlet after snapping a picture of the relaxed pair.

Last week, reindeer were pictured "queuing" outside a local social benefits office in the Lapland village of Inari as they sought shade.

Comment: The mainstream media has focused almost exclusively on record-breaking hot temperatures this summer....promoting the man-made global warming/climate change narrative...yet it ought to be noted that at the other extreme, many new cold temperature records are also being set across the planet at this time:

An elephant living in Kruger National Park in South Africa wasn't up for visitors.

The giant elephant decided to charge and ram a truck full of terrified tourists, knocking their vehicle from side to side.

Footage of the attack shows the elephant charging the truck head on while trumpeting - the noise they make when they're highly stimulated - and flapping its ears.

The car load of passengers, believed to be Australian, can be seen holding onto the back of the seats, while another passenger advises them to "hold on".

Mt. Aso
A small eruption was observed Friday on Mt. Aso in southwestern Japan, spewing smoke as high as 1,600 meters, the weather agency said. The eruption occurred at 7:57 a.m. at the No. 1 crater of Mt. Aso's Nakadake, which is 1,506 meters above sea level, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

There were no immediate reports of injuries. It was the latest in a series of small-scale eruptions at the volcano in Kumamoto Prefecture since April. No volcanic cinders were detected but the agency warned of volcanic gas.

The agency raised Mt. Aso's volcanic alert level to 2 on a scale of 1 to 5 in April, urging people not to approach the crater. Local municipalities have restricted entry to areas within 1 kilometer of the crater.
