Waterspout caught on film near Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Maryland

A wild weather phenomenon was caught on video in Maryland over the weekend.

At just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, Tessa Gunnell captured amazing footage of a waterspout while crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

In the video, the waterspout can be seen spinning and kicking up spray, and at one point there almost appears to be a second vortex.

Tornadic waterspouts are tornadoes that form over water, or move from land to water, according to NOAA. They have the same characteristics as a land tornado.

The amazing footage can be viewed below, via meteorologist Justin Berk's YouTube channel...

A Tobago fisherman was left in awe on Monday morning after a huge waterspout developed over the western end of the island.

National Geographic describes a waterspout as "a column of rotating, cloud-filled wind. A waterspout descends from a cumulus cloud to an ocean or a lake. Waterspouts are similar to tornadoes but are usually smaller and less intense."

The waterspout was spotted just after 9 am by motorists and residents near the Store Bay area.

At Kolari, along the border with Sweden, roads were snowy and slippery already on Friday.
The autumn holiday for Finnish schoolchildren may seem more like a winter vacation with subzero temperatures in Lapland and snow making an appearance in central parts of the country.

There are sunny skies in the forecast for the early part of the autumn holiday week, but as of Wednesday, a powerful low-pressure front is likely to bring a change to the weather.

In most parts of Finland, schoolchildren are enjoying a week's break from classes but in some areas, many will be dressing for winter weather.

The week is expected to be a real mixed bag, kicking off with mostly sunny skies around the country, then on to rain, sleet and snow, and nighttime temperatures below freezing even in southern areas.
