An amateur photographer was left dumbstruck when he captured a striking eye-shaped cloud creating a rather chilling spectacle in the sky above his home.

Father-of-two Graham Telford spotted the unusual meteorological sighting looming over Leeds, Yorkshire, on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old said he couldn't help feeling like 'he was being watched' while photographing the peculiar formation.

Conspiracy theorists and cloud watchers alike have since claimed the cloud is the 'eye of god' or proof of government surveillance.

Global cooling: New study confirms the 'warming pause is real & revealing'

Global Cooling
© Science News
A new paper has been published in the Analysis section of Nature called Reconciling controversies about the 'global warming hiatus.' It confirms that the 'hiatus' or 'pause' is real. It is also rather revealing.

It attempts to explain the 'Pause' by looking into what is known about climate variability. They say that four years after the release of the IPCC AR5 report, which contained much about the 'hiatus' it is time to see what can be learned.

One could be a little sarcastic in saying why would Nature devote seven of its desirable pages to an event that some vehemently say never existed and maintain its existence has been disproved long ago. Now, however, as the El Nino spike of the past few years levels off, analysing the 'pause' seems to be coming back into fashion.

Global temperatures have dropped 0.5° Celsius in April according to Dr. Ryan Maue. In the Northern Hemisphere they plunged a massive 1°C . As the record 2015/16 El Nino levels off, the global warming hiatus aka "the pause" is back with a vengeance.

Denmark gets its first wild wolf pack in over 200 years

Wolves are returning to well-peopled landscapes after centuries of persecution.
A wolf pack is roaming wild in Denmark for the first time in more than 200 years after a young female wolf journeyed 500km from Germany.

Male wolves have been seen in Denmark since 2012 and the new female could produce cubs this spring in farmland in west Jutland after two wolves were filmed together last autumn.

It is further evidence that the wolf is returning to well-peopled landscapes after centuries of persecution, with wolf packs also re-establishing themselves in France and Germany and individuals sighted in Holland and even Luxembourg. Before the new population, Denmark's last wolf was killed in 1813.

"We expect that they will have cubs this year or the next," said Peter Sunde, a senior researcher at Aarhus University.

More than 300 migratory birds were found dead in Galveston
Hundreds of migratory birds were found dead after an entire flock crashed into the American National Insurance building at One Moody Plaza.

Officer workers found the dead birds when they arrived to work early Thursday morning, according to Josh Henderson of the Galveston Police Department's Animal Services Unit.

Henderson says they collected 395 deceased birds, mostly warblers and orioles, that were found outside the building.

The Houston Audubon Society says the bird kill was likely caused by a combination of bad weather and bright lights.

The humpback whale, the fifth to wash ashore in Delaware in 10 months.
A dead whale washed ashore in Rehoboth Beach Thursday and is the fifth humpback whale to wash up in Delaware in less than a year.

Suzanne Thurman, the executive director of the Marine Education Research and Rehabilitation Institute, said the whale was first reported Thursday morning heading north of Rehoboth Beach. It started to reach land near Deauville Beach located off of Henlopen Avenue, but continued to North Shores, just north of Rehoboth Beach.

Responders arrived at the scene to secure ropes around the whale's tail. Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control officials pulled the whale out and towed it to Gordons Pond, where it will decompose.

Thurman said the whale is 37 feet and 11 inches long and 1500 pounds per foot - weighing nearly 29 tons total. MERR could not perform a full necropsy during the stranding response because the sun had almost set, but Thurman said after evaluating the carcass, she determined it is a young male humpback whale.

"There may be some preliminary evidence suggesting that there was some blunt force trauma involved, such as a large ship strike that impacted the lower jaw," Thurman said.

A mahout was killed by Forest department elephant on Thursday in Dubare elephant camp.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has deployed additional resources to combat the extreme flooding in northern parts of the state as many communities remain underwater.

A dangerous flooding situation in northeastern Arkansas worsened on Wednesday morning when a levee failed along the Black River near the town of Pocahontas.

Following the breach, the National Weather Service office in Memphis, Tennessee, immediately issued a flash flooding emergency and urged residents to seek higher ground immediately due to life-threatening flooding.

Water rescues were occurring just south of Pocahontas in the community of Shannon, according to the NWS.

Evacuation orders were issued on Monday for eastern Pocahontas, which included 150 homes, dozens of businesses and an assisted living facility, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Water had begun to spill over the top of the levee on Tuesday, and officials warned of an imminent levee breach.

At least 50 homes have either been destroyed or have sustained major damage due to the flooding, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.

Gauge data shows the river crested at a record level of 28.95 feet at 8:30 p.m. local time Tuesday, but it is forecast to remain above the major flood stage of 25 feet through early Saturday morning.

Morning sun halo appears in Iowa skies

A weather system to our south is far enough away that we are avoiding its rain, but it's close enough that it's throwing a thin veil of clouds over us. Those clouds gave some of us in eastern Iowa an interesting sight: a halo around the sun. The halo appears as a circle that goes all the way around the sun.

The air is cold where the clouds are, so they're made of ice crystals. In this case, they were six-sided ice crystals, and the sunlight bent just right as it passed through them. Haloes can appear any time of year, but they're more common in the winter on a very cold and sunny morning or evening. Ice crystals tend to be floating in the air on those frigid days.
