Colorado's highest elevations saw the first snow of the 'fall', and more may be on the way.

Even though we'll creep back up into the 90s by Labor Day weekend, we're enjoying the cold front that's starting off the week with high temps in the 70s. While fall isn't quite here just yet, for Colorado's highest peaks, the first dusting of snow has arrived.

On Saturday, August 29, Aspen Snowmass shared that it had its first snow on the high peaks. According to CBS4 Denver, closer to us in Northern Colorado, 'A few Coloradans have also reported snow high up on Trail Ridge Road as well.'

Cold front brings August snow to Wyoming, freeze warning issued

A cold front has brought some late summer snow to Wyoming.

Wyoming Department of Transportation web cameras along WYO 22 over Teton Pass show snow falling on Monday afternoon with some accumulation along the side of the highway.

The National Weather Service in Riverton says that below freezing temperatures are forecast across much of the state Monday.

Lightning struck dead two children in Iganga district following a heavy weekend downpour. The deceased have been identified as Bruhan Mulondo, 8, and Abdul Mutisa, 10.

Bruhan Siraji, the father of Mulondo says that his son was struck dead inside their house in Butende village.

"We were in the house located during the heavy night downpour when a bright flashlight almost blinded us. The next thing I saw was Mulondo lying motionless on the ground," he says.

David Ndawula, the Iganga district police commander says that Mutisa was struck dead in Nakigo sub-county. He adds that another victim Trevor Mudebo is admitted at Iganga General hospital.

In a tragic incident, a six-year-old girl died after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs in Uch Sharif city of Punjab on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

Stray dogs savaged the minor victim in Moza Khairpur Jadded area within the remits of Dhoor Kot police station.

She was rushed to a nearby medical facility where medics referred her to a Bahawalpur hospital due to her grave injuries but she couldn't survive and succumbed to her wounds.

Last month, a two-year-old boy had sustained severe wounds on his face after a stray dog attacked him in Gulzar Colony area of Karachi. Narrating the entire incident, the father of the victim, Kaleem Ullah, said a stray dog attacked his child a day back, inflicting severe injuries on his face.

"My child was attacked by a stray dog. If he loses his eye injured in the attack then who will be responsible?" asked the father as he pleaded to the authorities to bear the expense of the child's treatment.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 has struck off the coast of northern Chile

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 struck off the coast of northern Chile in the first minutes of Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage and the Chilean navy said there was no possibility of a tsunami.

The quake occurred at 12:09 a.m. local time at a depth of 35 kilometers (22 miles). It was centered 78 kilometers (48 miles) northeast of the Atacama city of Vallenar. A few minutes later, a second quake occurred with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3.

More than 3,100 people in Spain have been forced to evacuate as an out-of-control wildfire in the southern region of Andalusia continues to rage, according to the authorities.

The blaze broke out on Thursday in the mountains near the town of Almonaster la Real, 120km (75 miles) northwest of the city of Seville.

It has already scorched 100 square kilometres (38.5 square miles).

A Missouri angler says he was attacked by a muskie recently while fighting a bass from his kayak.

Zach Reynolds, 28, told St. Louis Today that the bite from the muskie, as he dangled his feet overboard, left his foot bloodied and with a V-shaped row of punctures.

"It was so hot it was burning the tops of my feet, so I had them in the water as I was reeling in that bass," Reynolds explained. "I was still reeling when something hit the top of my left foot. I pulled my foot up and there was blood all over it."

Reynolds, who was prepping for last weekend's Mo-Yak Fishing Series event on Pom de Terre Lake in southwest Missouri, said he saw the muskie dash into the murky depths and estimated the fish to measure perhaps 30 inches.

Delighted fishermen say they couldn't believe their luck after discovering a rare deep-sea Moonfish floating after an earthquake.

But they have been warned that the huge discovery could be a sign of bad luck.

They stumbled on the huge fish, which was at the surface of the ocean, after a powerful magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit the Philippines.

The giant pink fish was found by fishermen in Eastern Samar.

Hours earlier the earthquake had happened hundreds of miles away in Masbate province on August 18.
