Society's Child
The investigation, conducted and released in rare bipartisan fashion by the Senate Finance Committee, looked closely at one of the largest private providers of foster care services, the MENTOR Network.
The companies and agencies charged with keeping foster children safe often failed to provide the most basic protections or take steps to prevent tragedies, the investigation found.
Internet availability across Southeast Asia currently sits at about 50 percent, according to a recent study. However, in the Philippines and Thailand, countries where sexual abuse is a significant problem, the rate reaches 58 percent and 67 percent respectively, Reuters reports.
Jon Rouse of Taskforce Argos, an Australian police unit that targets online child abuse networks, said that the problem of child porn is only going to get bigger.
The man is believed to have sexually assaulted two women between the ages of 25 and 27, as well as seven children aged 11-13, in the areas of Greenwich and Lewisham.
Police said all of the attacks were perpetrated in broad daylight before the assailant fled on foot. They have now released CCTV images of the latest assault, which took place in Honor Oak Road on Monday.

Demented 'artist' Maja Smrekar spent 112 days secluded with dogs that she breastfed. It's 'art' supposedly
Maja Smrekar lived in seclusion with her dogs as part of the lengthy artistic experiment, which was titled "K-9_topology."
During that time, she triggered her body to produce breast milk by systematic breast pumping. She then breastfed her puppy Ada to explore "the social and ideological instrumentalization of the female body and breastfeeding."
Comment: The only thing this poor woman is 'exploring' is her own disordered psychological makeup. In a sane society, she would be deemed in need of psychological help. In our 'modern' society, she wins awards and is emulated.
Smrekar also took a fat cell from another dog, Byron, and used it to fertilize one of her eggs using a method similar to IVF. The fat cell was a non-sexual cell, so no dog's sperm was used in the project.
The large walk-through sculpture was created by Dutch artist Joep Van Lieshout. It houses several smaller sculptures and a bed and was set to be installed in the Tuileries Gardens, near the Louvre, but the famous French gallery decided that it risked "being misunderstood by the visitors to the gardens."
Comment: What's to misunderstand? This is a crude and ugly manifestation of the inner workings of a deranged Dutch person.
Domestikator will instead be housed very close to the Louvre at the Pompidou Centre Museum.
Multiple undercover sting operations across the United States were carried out this month targeting adult and child sex trafficking. The results of many of these stings netted hundreds of arrests-including doctors, pharmacists, high-level military officers, and law enforcement officers. Dozens of children were also rescued - including one as young as three months old.
"That's the most we have ever arrested in the history of the sheriff's office," Sheriff Grady Judd said of his undercover operation in Polk County, Florida.
The sheriff is referring to the 277 people rounded up in "Operation No Tricks, No Treats" which started last Tuesday and ran through Monday.
According to the sheriff's office, as reported by WFLA, 51 of the arrests were related to those who advertise as prostitutes online and 209 of the arrests were those who solicited undercover detectives posing as prostitutes. Seventeen arrests were made for other offenses.
The sheriff noted that the arrests included lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, former and current police officers, multiple men looking to have sex with children, and convicted sex offenders.
In a pre-recorded interview that aired Wednesday, Jesus Campos told Ellen DeGeneres that he had trouble reaching the shooter's floor to inspect a door that was left ajar on the night of the shooting.
"There was a metal bracket holding the door in place," Campos said, describing how he was blocked trying to enter the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel from a stairwell right next to the room rented by Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock. "That was just out of the ordinary. It's not normal."
Campos is speaking for the first time in public after being interviewed by police. He was shot in the thigh by Paddock, who killed 58 people and injured 546 others gathered at a country music concert, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

People protest against the imprisonment of leaders of two of the largest Catalan separatist organizations, Catalan National Assembly's Jordi Sanchez and Omnium's Jordi Cuixart, who were jailed by Spain's High Court, in Barcelona, Spain October 17, 2017.
Tens of thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Barcelona on Tuesday evening to show support for Jordi Sanchez, leader of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), and Jordi Cuixart, of the Omnium cultural association, who were detained on the orders of Spain's High Court.
The protesters demanded that the central Spanish government release the men, who they referred to as "political prisoners." Sanchez and Cuixart were remanded in custody without bail on Monday.
Spencer - who takes credit for coining the term 'alt-right' - is due to appear at the university in Gainesville on Thursday. Scott signed an executive order because he believes that the "threat of a potential emergency is imminent."
"We live in a country where everyone has the right to voice their opinion," Scott said in a statement accompanying the seven page executive order. "However, we have zero tolerance for violence and public safety is always our number one priority."
Of all the absurd and ill-informed clichés being parroted by today's politicos, the notion of science as a saber wielded exclusively by the left is among the most laughable.
Fear mongering over GMOs and absurd arguments about when life begins (and should end) have done plenty to damage the left's scientific street cred.
But liberals' willful scientific ignorance has now gone stratospheric with arguments surrounding sex and gender that grow more outlandish seemingly by the hour. In fact, the "party of science" now appears fully prepared to slaughter its most sacred cow: evolution.
Long before squabbles over the thickness of polar ice caps, the debate over the origins of life, and more specifically mankind, pitted religious conservatives against more science-minded folk.
This early flashpoint in the culture war was long heralded as a quintessential victory by the secular left and helped to establish evolution as scientific "fact" for much of the country. And in many ways provided the precursor for liberals' current claims of scientific ownership - claims now being abandoned for the sake of social justice.
Regardless of one's own views toward evolution, the irony of the left eating its own, on what was once sacred secular ground, is undeniably rich.
