Eye-opening survey shows No.1 fear of US citizens is government, not terrorism

An extensive survey of hundreds of adults across the United States has just revealed that the thing most Americans fear-more than anything else-is their own government. In fact, according to the survey, no other fear even comes close to the percentage of Americans who worry about their corrupt government officials.

The survey was conducted by Chapman University and it serves to back up the point that while Americans claim to live in the Land of the Free, deep down, they realize they are living in a corrupt oligarchy.
The Chapman University Survey of American Fears Wave 4 (2017) provides an in-depth examination into the fears of average Americans. In May of 2017, a random sample of 1,207 adults from across the United States were asked their level of fear about eighty different fears across a huge variety of topics ranging from crime, the government, the environment, disasters, personal anxieties, technology and many others.
As Statista's Niall McCarthy notes, like last year, corruption of government officials came top in 2017, with 74.5 percent of U.S. adults saying it makes them "afraid" or "very afraid."

The head of the Flemish government, Geert Bourgeois, has shared his opinion on a possible independence referendum in Belgium's Flanders region in wake of the recent Catalan referendum, as well as other separatist tendencies throughout Europe.

The majority of citizens of Belgium's Dutch-speaking Flanders do not support the region's independence, Geert Bourgeois, the head of the Flemish government, said Sunday in an interview devoted to the recent developments in Catalonia, calling once again for the establishment of confederation in Belgium.

A Yazidi girl, recently rescued from Sinjar by the Iraqi Army, was resold by Daesh 12 times as a sex slave. She was kidnapped, beaten and raped by the militants for over three years. Sputnik correspondent spoke to her about her terrible ordeal.

In an interview with a Sputnik correspondent, N.M Shemli, who was abducted by Daesh militants in August 2014, said that she was taken when she was 18 years old. Her six-year-old sister was also kidnapped by the terrorists.

"As soon as Daesh attacked the village and the center of Sinjar, I along with my family and relatives, left in two cars. In the area of Sinone, our road was blocked by a convoy of five Daesh cars. We cried and begged to release us, but that did not help. First they drove us to the nearby US base, which was by then seized by Daesh. From there we were sent to Shilom, where several Yazidi men were executed right before our eyes," Shemli said.

More than 160 Russian generals and officers took part in the operation to save Russian women and children, who were then taken by military aircraft from Syria's Hmeymim to Russia's Grozny on Saturday, Russian parliament's upper house member Ziyad Sabsabi said.

On Saturday, a special flight with the first large group of 7 women and 14 children between the ages of three months and ten years, rescued from the hot spots of the Middle East, arrived in Russia's Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic.

"This was a military operation, not a humanitarian action, involving more than 150 officers of the Russian Armed Forces and more than 10 generals who participated in the release and return of our citizens, in this regard, special thanks to the Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov," Sabsabi, who is also Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's special representative in the Middle East and North Africa, said.

Nothing working in Hollywood: Big studios forced to cut losses, pulling flops from theaters at a fast pace

Blade Runner
It's a bizarre season in Hollywood. Almost nothing is "working," and the studios can't afford to waste any more money hoping things will turn around. They're pulling flops from theaters earlier than usual.

This weekend, for example, Warner Bros. is putting out a white flag on "Blade Runner" after three tough weeks. They've cut the number of theaters showing Denis Villeneuve's beautiful film by 855. So far, "Blade Runner" has made just $66 million. Audiences have not clamored to it. And now, week by week, Warners will quietly take it away.

Warner's isn't alone. Universal is pulling Tom Cruise's "American Made" from 539 locations after a month in release. The Doug Liman directed thriller has made just $43 million. Good reviews haven't helped push Cruise fans to theaters. One problem was lack of promotion since Cruise wasn't available. Also, audiences may have just soured on him after "The Mummy" and other flops. With both studios, it wasn't for lack of trying.

Comment: Why is Hollywood doing so poorly? The Blaze speculates:
... Hollywood has two massive problems facing them: their elite progressivism is often out-of-touch with the vast majority of Americans and the sexual misconduct scandals.

The industry was rocked when the Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein sex scandal broke weeks ago, and heads continue to roll. Those two things are clearly leading to empty theaters and unsatisfied customers.
The Weinstein scandal probably has little to do with it. Hollywood has been tanking for months. And the fact remains, some films still bring in tons of money - so the issue isn't Hollywood's "elite progressivism" either. Beauty and the Beast made over $500 million, Wonder Woman made over $400 million. Out of the top 10 earners this year, four are comic book movies. Three are kids' films (2 animations, and a live-action remake of a Disney animation). That leaves a horror film (It), another mindless Fast and the Furious instalment, and the sole "serious" film: Chris Nolan's war movie, Dunkirk.

It appears that a lot of people are finally getting enough of Hollywood's offerings, perhaps feeling disgusted by the perversity of the industry, as well as the continual rehashing of old films and thinly veiled CIA-backed war propaganda - it's well past time!

Czech President calls for European '2nd Amendment' to protect against terrorists

Czech president Miloš Zeman has said Europeans should "have the courage to invest in our own guns" in order to guard against international terrorism, like millions of U.S. citizens have.

The elder statesman - a veteran of the Prague Spring uprising against the old Communist regime as well as the Velvet Revolution which finally brought it down - made his comments in an address to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, an intergovernmental forum which predates the quasi-federal European Union by several years.

"The level of international crime is growing because of Islamic terrorism," he said, in response to a question from an Armenian politician.

Comment: 'To protect against terrorists', yeah right!

But then, Zeman likely knows the real reason: to give European citizens a fighting chance against the ever-worsening police state.

Col. Leland Bohannon, seen here with his family, was suspended from command over his views, according to his attorney.
The Air Force has punished a highly-decorated and respected colonel after he refused to publicly affirm the same-sex spouse of a retiring subordinate.

Col. Leland Bohannon, who was on the verge of being promoted to a one-star general, was suspended from command and orders were handed down recommending he not be promoted.

"His career is likely over and he will likely have to retire as a colonel instead of as a general," First Liberty Institute attorney Michael Berry told the Todd Starnes Show.

Perversely timed: Woody Allen's new movie has adult-teen sex scene

Woody Allen and Soon Yi

Woody Allen and Soon Yi
Woody Allen's upcoming movie contains some awkward scenes involving an older man having sex with young starlets, considering the current firestorm about sexual misconduct sparked by the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

We're told that a plotline in the untitled Allen flick, which is currently filming in New York, centers around a middle-aged man who is sleeping with a much younger woman, among other actresses, and, according to the script, "makes a fool of himself over every ambitious starlet and model."

Possible serial killer on the loose "terrorizing" neighborhood in Tampa, Florida

Anthony Naiboa

Anthony Naiboa was shot and killed in Tampa, Florida, on Oct. 19, the third person killed in 10 days.
A serial killer might be on the loose in Tampa, Florida.

Police are warning people not to walk alone at night in the Seminole Heights neighborhood after a third person in 10 days was shot to death on Thursday night.

As CBS News correspondent Manuel Bojorquez reports, police seem certain their murders are all connected, even though the victims did not appear to know one another.

Frightened residents did what they could to reclaim the streets of the neighborhood Friday night, chanting "Whose streets? Our streets!" a day after 20-year-old Anthony Naiboa was found shot to death on a sidewalk.
