Accepting the reality: Polish newspaper releases map showing Crimea as part of Russia

A Polish sports newspaper has published a map in which Crimea comprises part of Russia, despite Warsaw being a longstanding critic of the region's reunification with the country.

In an article released on Friday, Przeglad Sportowy, the oldest Polish sports daily, published a map which showed clubs participating in the upcoming Champions League football tournament, along with the countries they represent.

On the map, Crimea is attached to Russia and is denoted in the same color, indicating that they are part of the same country.

Chinese espionage agencies are using fake accounts on the social network Linkedin to recruit Americans with access to trade and government secrets, a former US intelligence agent said in an interview on Friday.

US intelligence and security officials have alerted the company to a "super-aggressive" campaign that involves contacting thousands of Americans at a time, the director of the US National Security and Counterintelligence Center told Reuters in an exclusive interview, William Evanina.

The official did not reveal whether there was any information regarding the success of China's efforts, nor did it reveal how many people would have been contacted by China's intelligence.

Central Californian farm town terrorized by MS-13 gang

More than two dozen MS-13 gang members and affiliates were charged following a months long murder and drug trafficking investigation centered on a rural California farm city, the U.S. attorney in Sacramento said.

McGregor Scott said in a phone interview on Thursday the investigation also helped solve killings and assaults in New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Houston. Authorities were expected to announce the charges on Friday.

The notorious street gang took advantage of an understaffed police department in Mendota and terrorized the city, Scott said.

Mendota, with a population of roughly 11,000 people, lies 35 miles (60 kilometers) west of Fresno in California's agriculturally rich Central Valley. Nearly the entire population is Hispanic, with many immigrants from El Salvador.

MS-13, or La Mara Salvatrucha, was formed in Los Angeles in the 1980s by refugees from El Salvador and is linked to many slayings in certain parts of the U.S. In California, the gang has clashed with rival Nortenos gang members. It also targets its own members for violating gang rules.

Young Hongkongers have to violate the law by living in industrial buildings, as the insane prices for property in the region make it difficult to afford rent, much less buy a house.

Surging house prices have pushed rents to record levels. Hong Kong is the world's priciest home market, and one of the most densely populated cities across the globe. The average home in the region can reportedly cost 19.4 times the gross annual median income, while renting a tiny flat could cost around $3500 per month.

So, it is no wonder that younger residents prefer to take a risk and rent spaces, unallotted for living, just to save some cash.

"The rents nowadays are very unreasonable," 32-year-old photographer Wah Lee, who shares his building with a Chinese herbal-oil storage unit, a commercial kitchen pumping out roast meats and a roommate, told Bloomberg. "There's no way for me to afford those residential units."

Another video of yet another police officer shooting another family's dog has been posted to social media and it has sparked a firestorm of outrage. After the Reidsville Police Department ruled the shooting justified, that outrage grew to threats.

The incident happened on August 7 when Police Chief Robert Hassell and Reidsville officers visited the Police Impound Lot to take inventory and also observed the work of Quality Fencing of Reidsville, a company owned by Greensboro firefighter Kevin Paschal.

Paschal had his dog dog Auger out at the site with them. When officers approached a truck on the lot, they say they heard a dog barking behind it and they backed up. That's when Auger ran out.

As the video shows, Auger darted out from behind the car and briefly appeared to put his face by the officer's boot. Within seconds of Auger doing this, Officer Glen Wade pulled out his pistol and fired 5 rounds at the collie mix. Two of those rounds struck Auger who died from the wounds on the scene.

After watching the video, the family believes that the officer was not justified in shooting their dog and they have since called for justice for Auger. They also say that witnesses saw the officer shoot at Auger before he ran out from behind the truck.

Facebook has deleted all of my posts from July 2017 to last week because I am, apparently, a Russian Bot. For a while I could not add any new posts either, but we recently found a way around that, at least for now. To those of you tempted to say "So what?", I would point out that over two thirds of visitors to my website arrive via my posting of the articles to Facebook and Twitter. Social media outlets like this blog, which offer an alternative to MSM propaganda, are hugely at the mercy of these corporate gatekeepers.

Facebook's plunge into censorship is completely open and admitted, as is the fact it is operated for Facebook by the Atlantic Council - the extreme neo-con group part funded by NATO and whose board includes serial war criminal Henry Kissinger, Former CIA Heads Michael Hayden and Michael Morrell, and George Bush's chief of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, among a whole list of horrors.

The staff are worse than the Board. Their lead expert on Russian bot detection is an obsessed nutter named Ben Nimmo, whose fragile grip on reality has been completely broken by his elevation to be the internet's Witchfinder-General. Nimmo, grandly titled "Senior Fellow for Information Defense at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab", is the go-to man for Establishment rubbishing of citizen journalists, and as with Joseph McCarthy or Matthew Clarke, one day society will sufficiently recover its balance for it to be generally acknowledged that this kind of witch-hunt nonsense was not just an aberration, but a manifestation of the evil it claimed to fight.

Comment: Craig Murray is a former British ambassador and his articles normally make a lot of sense. But that doesn't matter. If you make a few rational questions here and there about the Skripal or Douma nonsensic Western narratives, you will be a Russian bot. Why? Because a guy with an Internet connection and friends in NATO called Ben Nimmo says so - that's why.

Chinese people can look forward to a longer healthy life than Americans for the first time since records began, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) data.

Chinese newborns in 2016 can expect 68.7 years of healthy life, compared with 68.5 years for American babies, the figures show.

American babies can still expect to live longer overall, dying at 78.5 years compared to China's 76.4. but during the last decade Americans are likely to suffer from ill health.

Every year the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts a gala. A single ticket costs $30,000. New York's A-listers and wannabes deck themselves in overwrought garments designed for the party's theme. Three years ago "China: Through the Looking Glass" inspired dresses with dragons (pictured), hair held in place with chopsticks and, from a few sartorially confused celebrities, kimonos.

The attire prompted an outcry over "cultural appropriation" - an elastic, ill-defined gripe. No such furore arose over the outfits at this year's gala, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination", even though they included a stilettoed and sequinned pope, Jesus Christ in a gold tiara, and a spectacularly winged angel. Why not?

United Nations human rights experts have called for China to shut down alleged political "re-education camps" for Muslim Uighurs and called for the immediate release of those detained on the "pretext of countering terrorism".

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination cited estimates that "from tens of thousands to upwards of a million Uighurs" may be detained in the far western Xinjiang province. Its findings were issued after a two-day review of China's record, the first since 2009.

China's foreign ministry has rejected the allegations, saying anti-China forces are behind criticism of policies in Xinjiang.
