Jordan Peterson and Living with My Disability

Jordan Peterson is a "controversial figure," which means that he says things some in the commentary class disagree with. His audience of supporters and haters is as polarized as our politics; his haters see no redeeming arguments or positions, while his most vehement supporters see no fault. Meanwhile, those like me who are supportive in some areas and critical in others feel slightly stuck. None of this is helped by the media. I can count on the fingers of one hand how many pieces out of mainstream outlets that actually wrote about or covered Peterson and his work in good faith. While most reviews and discussions of 12 Rules for Life have tended to be more general, this article is more personal. I have some experience with Peterson's description of suffering, and I believe that what he says is right.

Putting aside the surface-level political controversies and the fabricated media storms, Jordan Peterson is arguably controversial because his core message is totally at odds with the "you're okay as you are" self-esteem narrative. According to him, you're not okay as you are, far from it; but you could be better, much better. The other thing is he speaks the truth about the fundamental reality of life: Suffering is inherent to life itself, and it can drag you down into resentment if you let it. Sometimes, suffering comes along and hammers you with no provocation, while in other cases you were the cause through your own arrogance or stupidity. Sometimes, you can conspire with the pain to make it all worse, and the worst part is that there's a small piece of you that rejoices in the degeneration.

The American and French military troops are conducting excavation operations in historical sites in Raqqa province to plunder the region's valuable artifacts, a Russian media outlet reported on Tuesday.

The Arabic-language website of RT quoted media activists in Raqqa province as reporting that the American and French forces are carrying out excavation operations in historical hills in al-Mansoureh region in Western Raqqa.

It further said that similar excavation operations have been conducted Northwest of the town of Tabaqa near Ja'abar citadel and in the town of al-Jarniyeh in al-Karin region.

Northeastern and Eastern Syria are home to a precious collection of historical artifacts where ISIL had been looting its monuments and selling them to foreign countries.

Sweden's anti-immigration party anticipates 'record' wins in upcoming election

Sweden Democrats Jimmie Åkesson

Jimmie Åkesson, leader of the Sweden Democrats
A surge in populism has sent Sweden's far-right Sweden Democrats (SD) Party surging in the polls leading up to the country's September 9 election - placing them neck and neck with the Moderate party. The current ruling party, the Swedish Social Democrats (S), however, remain strongly in the lead.

Perhaps dozens of cars torched by "misguided youths", rapes, swiming pool sex assaults, news crew attacks, grenade attacks and government funded sex courses to teach migrants that 14 is just too young, aren't sitting well with Swedes who may regret following their "feminist" government in welcoming over 400,000 people from countries and cultures not exactly known for their embrace of feminism.

Comment: Right on cue Swedish officials are blaming their declining popularity on Russian hacking:
With only nine days left before Swedes hit the polls on September 9, officials are concerned the election is being hacked. [...]

In an interview with Swedish broadcaster SVT, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven said: "It has become increasingly obvious that foreign powers are trying to influence an election and its outcome."

He added, "obviously Russia was active in the US elections" and "we cannot assume that we are immune."

This comes after the recent polls have seen a rise in eurosceptic party Sweden Democrats as left-wing leaders are heading for their worst election result in history.

Swedes will cast their votes on September 9, 2018 in one of the most complicated Swedish elections ever, with the Sweden Democrats gaining ground with their anti-immigration policies.

Theft of $40,000 worth of insects and lizards was an inside job, say police

The Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion last year. Three current or former employees are suspected of stealing thousands of insects and lizards, the police said.
The desert hairy scorpions and domino cockroaches had vanished. The shelves at the Philadelphia Insectarium and Butterfly Pavilion were empty, and there was little movement in the glass cases. Electric-blue staff uniforms hung from knives that had been stabbed into a wall.

Thieves had stolen more than $40,000 worth of insects and lizards, and the police suspected an inside job.

Security cameras around the pavilion recorded several people creeping out of the museum last week with plastic containers holding giant African mantises, bumblebee millipedes, warty glowspot roaches, tarantulas, dwarf and tiger hissers, and leopard geckos.

Paul Joseph Watson: Paris is a Sh*thole (VIDEO)

Paris no longer Paris
There is no better way to determine if a government's policies, politics and social mores are working constructively than to witness its society's behavior - and the so-called facts on the ground. This is exactly what Watson successfully does in his new video - where he comes to the sad conclusion that Paris is no longer Paris and has, indeed, become something of a sh*thole.

Mujahideen commander Jalaluddin Haqqani, one of the most prominent terrorist leaders during the 1980s died on Tuesday.

According to AFP, the Afgan Taliban announced that Haqqani died after a long illness. Haqqani was one of the war leaders fought against the Soviet Union in the 1980s with the help of the US and Pakistan.

At that time he gained the attention of the CIA and even was reportedly visited by the US congressman Charlie Wilson personally. After the Afghanistan War Haqqani created and ruled a military network after his name, which had close ties with jihadists and even was associated with Osama Bin Laden who was present in the region during the war.

Comment: Perhaps NBC, CNN and MSNBC can run broadcasts for days on end declaring what a grand war hero Haqqani was. Obama can give the eulogy.

Lawsuit seeks to reveal Jeffrey Epstein's pedophile circle involving prominent US politicians and world leaders

Epstein pedophelia
A federal lawsuit is seeking to expose a sex abuse ring of "prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well-known prime minister, and other world leaders."

The long-awaited trial could potentially reveal more secrets of Epstein's alleged sex rings, including the possible involvement of high profile politicians, celebrities, and royalty.

A lawsuit against convicted sex offender and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein is scheduled to begin December 4th in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. If the trial is not further delayed or a settlement is not reached the public may learn more details of Epstein's disturbing pedophile adventures. Epstein is well known for his connections to many powerful businessmen, politicians, and royalty. Some of his friends include Prince Andrew, Duke of York, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump.

The upcoming trial relates to an ongoing legal battle between Epstein and lawyer Bradley Edwards. In 2008, Edwards successfully sued Epstein on behalf of women who claimed he paid them to massage while he masturbated. All of the women were teenagers at the time.

Refugee death rate in Mediterranean reaches highest levels since 2015

Refugees wait to disembark in the port of Catania, on the island of Sicily on March 21, 2017 from the ship "Aquarius" following a rescue operation in the Mediterranean sea, where some 946 refugees have been rescued.
The U.N. attributed most of the deaths to the "decreased search and rescue capacity off the Libyan coast this year."

Refugee and migrants aid groups sounded the alarm over the latest report by the United Nations warning that the death rate for the migration crisis in the Mediterranean Sea has reached its highest level since 2015. One person drowned for every 18 migrants who reached Italy by boat for the first seven months this year, according to data released by the United Nations on Monday.

The death toll is nearly triple the rate during the same period in 2015 and double that from the following year, despite the fact that unauthorized migration along the route has dropped to its lowest level.

"A major factor contributing to the increased death rate is the decreased search and rescue capacity off the Libyan coast this year compared to the same period last year," the United Nations refugee agency said in its report.

Moscow's Zaryadye Park has landed a spot on TIME's "World's Greatest Places" list, with the magazine highlighting its boomerang-shaped bridge and ice cave. It's the first large-scale public park to be built in Moscow in 50 years.

The park, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro -the same architects behind New York's High Line- in collaboration with Hargreaves Associates and Citymakers, has hosted nearly 10 million people since opening in September 2017.

Ronan Farrow slams NBC after exec sends out memo defending decision to scuttle Weinstein sex abuse story

NBC News chairman Andy Lack has defended his network's decision not to air Ronan Farrow's Harvey Weinstein expose, insisting that the story 'wasn't ready to air' at the time
Ronan Farrow has hit out at NBC after the network's embattled chairman Andy Lack sent out a lengthy memo to staff defending his decision to drop Farrow's explosive story that would expose Harvey Weinstein's lecherous ways.

Following months of scrutiny, Lack sent the memo and an 11-page 'fact sheet' to NBC staff on Labor Day that pushed back on claims it tried to kill Farrow's story.

In a unique move for a media outlet, the memo included excerpts of Farrow's draft story script, a timeline of his reporting and also descriptions of the network's interactions with Weinstein and his lawyers while the investigation was going on.

In a statement on Twitter late Monday, Farrow said the memo contained 'numerous false or misleading statements'.
