Israel: Bill proposed to revoke residency status of Palestinians in East Jerusalem, Golan Heights

The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation has approved a proposed bill that makes it possible to revoke the residency status of persons in occupied East Jerusalem and Golan Heights if they are convicted of engaging in anti-Israel activities, Haaretz reported.

The revocation of residency will make it possible for Israeli authorities to expel residents who are involved in the resistance against the occupation or who breach their loyalty to the State of Israel. Israel classifies Palestinians living in East Jerusalem and Druze in the Golan Heights as "residents" and not citizens.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of the Interior, Israel has revoked the residency status of more than 14,500 Palestinians from East Jerusalem since 1967 under the pretext that they were living outside the borders drawn by the Israeli authorities for Jerusalem after its occupation in the same year.

Ryabkov: US stance on E. Ghouta unveils 'egregious double standards'

The US position on the humanitarian situation in Eastern Ghouta, a militant-controlled suburb of the Syrian capital Damascus, is a clear example of "double standards," the Russian deputy foreign minister has said.

Sergey Ryabkov said that Russia is working within the UN Security Council to prepare a resolution on humanitarian issues in Syria's Eastern Ghouta. His statement comes amid concerns about escalating violence between Syrian government forces and rebel, as well as Islamist, factions operating in the area.

"The work on the draft of the relevant resolution is now being carried out in New York. Humanitarian questions, including humanitarian aid, humanitarian access, have become perhaps the most egregious example of the 'double standards' of the United States and their adherents in the approach to the entire Syrian dossier," Sergey Ryabkov told reporters in Moscow on Wednesday. "Every day we see how not just selectively but how cynically Washington separates the issues that are beneficial to it, from the point of view of political promotion and pressure on Damascus, from similar situations that create discomfort for Americans for various reasons," the diplomat noted.

Comment: The Western version of 'look over there, not over here' ploy comes with a bonus if blame can be assigned to Assad and Russia. Besides the Jaysh al-Islam militant group, Jabhat al-Nusra is also entrenched in the Eastern Ghouta district.

Trucks carrying chemical substances cross Turkish border into Syria

Several trucks carrying poisonous materials have crossed the Turkish border into Syrian territory, an Arab media source revealed on Wednesday, adding that the cargo is meant to be used in a joint false-flag operation by the terrorist groups and the White Helmets to accuse the Syrian army of chemical attack on civilians in Eastern Damascus.

The Arabic-language Al-Hadath news quoted local sources at Bab al-Hawa border-crossing in Northern Syria as revealing that three trucks carrying several tons of chlorine material crossed the Turkish border into Syria's Idlib.

In the meantime, well-informed sources in Eastern Damascus said that the terrorist groups, backed up by the certain western states' intelligence services, are producing a fake film in coordination with the White Helmets group to show the conditions after the false-flag operation that entails a chemical attack on the civilian population by chlorine gas.

The sources went on to say that the terrorists are to carry out the attack by mid March, when a meeting on chemical weapons ban is scheduled.

The Arabic-language al-Manar news channel quoted certain media outlets as reporting on Tuesday that intelligence shows that the White Helmets distributed masks in Eastern Ghouta for what they call as efforts to protect civilians from chemical gases.

Comment: Likely this isn't the first time this kind of cargo transport crossed the border to then be used in framing the Assad regime. White Helmets are a sham organization to produce fake and biased media verification of chemical attacks and staged rescues. These tricks must still be effective as White Helmets are still supported and in business.

The Irish artist Jim Fitzpatrick of Che Guevara black and red portrait fame has done it again: He has painted a minimalist poster of another iconic leader of her people and of a worldwide liberation movement, this time of an oppressed child who had slapped power with her bare truth. When I read his rationale for painting the new portrait I cried. The man's pacifism, sincerity, and especially his concern for Ahed Tamimi's life touched me.

Like Jim Fitzpatrick, I am apprehensive about the 17-year-old Ahed's life. No one really denies the real reason for incarcerating her: to teach a lesson to other Palestinians, especially the children among them. Fitzpatrick is taking the essence of the lesson, regardless in which direction it will be resolved, to its ultimate conclusion. He is saying this is a model for every native and underclass oppressed child in the world. And he knows how meaningful and dangerous that can be:

"Ahed Tamimi, to me, signifies nobility in the face of oppression. This is a kid, a child," said Fitzpatrick. "I think I would have been petrified. Wherever she's getting her courage from, there's a resonance of it echoing across the world. I'm just a part of it. There are organizations doing more than I could do, but I do think the pen-in my case, the brush-is mightier than the sword."

This traditional region extends into north-eastern Ukraine, especially the Chernigov province.

A Somali heritage Uber driver allowed his seven-year-old daughter to be subjected to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) because he said it stops "women feeling sexy all the time", a court has heard.

The case represents one of the first times a prosecution for the crime - common in some migrant and Muslim cultures - has been brought to court in the UK, despite being illegal here since 1985 and hundreds of successful prosecutions in France.

"The case concerns... a practice that is illegal in this country and is becoming illegal in countries around the world," Anna Vigars QC, prosecuting, told the court as the case began Monday.

"But, there are communities in Africa and the Middle East where it is common," she added, according to The Guardian.

The prosecution alleges that the Somali father, who speaks "broken" English, admitted allowing his daughter to be cut to charity worker and anti-FGM campaigner Sami Ullah after picking him up in his Uber in March 2016.

Comment: The WHO estimates that around 200 million girls and women (around 5%) have undergone FGM. A 2016 study estimates that around 37% of boys and men undergo male genital mutilation (i.e. around 1.4 billion males). Both practices need to stop.

A two-year-old boy, who was left stranded in Iraq, has been returned to Russia. His grandparents, who spotted Zaid in an RT video from an orphanage haven't seen their daughter for months.

Zaid lost one finger in a shelling attack in Iraq, where his mother had taken him. He was found on the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL)-controlled territory. The boy's mother left Russia when he was only nine-months-old. Found in an Iraqi orphanage, Zaid doesn't remember what happened to either her or to his father.

With Islamic State's self-proclaimed caliphate in tatters, many children possibly belonging to the terrorist group's fighters have been left stranded in Iraq and Syria following their parents' deaths. RT has been conducting a 24/7 campaign to return Russian-speaking children back home to their relatives.

US helicopters spotted in NE Syria evacuating ISIS terrorists from prison

The US-led coalition is often accused of supporting terrorist groups in Syria, including organizing safe passage and extraction from encirclements and hot zones. Videos have appeared on YouTube and Facebook allegedly showing the process of transportation of the terrorists.

The source from the town of al-Hasakah (north-east part of Syria) has told Sputnik on the condition of anonymity that local people have witnessed US helicopters landing multiple times on the territory of the local prison, controlled by Kurds, and then leaving. According to the source, they were taking away some of the Daesh (banned in Russia) terrorists, detained in that prison. There have also been reports of US military bringing munitions to this prison.

This news comes on the hot heels of reports made by Iraqi media, which indicated that American helicopters were moving members of Daesh from the prison in al-Hasakah to their base near the village of Abu Hajar in the eastern part of Syria. According to their sources, over 100 Daesh terrorists, most of them with foreign citizenship, most likely were brought to this prison by the US from Deir ez-Zor.
