Comment: But who cares what the thoughts (however sensible) or the will (however practical) of the people are anyway.
But the hosts on the Breakfast Club radio show on the Maariv channel 103 FM went further. Host Shai Goldstein said that he "feels like killing that woman", and called her "stupid", "retarded", "little bitch", and "filth." His co-host Leah Lev echoed his views.
I mentioned the reaction before, but I've now transcribed the entire conversation because it is so hair-raising. Maariv is the 3rd largest news outlet in Israel, and is considered mainstream and centrist.
It takes at least four years of college for an enlisted person in the military to become a military "officer," which is quite a contrast from the mere nine months it takes for a police officer to earn the title. But according to a group of 10 former Austin Police Department recruits who wanted to become peace officers, just like the military, the Austin PD is training "warriors" instead of "guardians."
The former recruits are now blowing the whistle and claiming that the type of mentality they encountered is not what they signed up for and is not representative of the greater Austin community. KVUE writes:
Summer Spisak, a 38-year-old former tech employee who participated in nine weeks of the eight-month academy last year, said instructors told her and other cadets they would "punch them in the face" if they said they wanted to be police officers to help people.Spisak and others are now sounding the alarm for the public, saying police are being trained to view community members as the enemy and not as their fellow citizens. "It's so different from what is portrayed...It's so different from my expectation of the Austin Police Department," Spisak concluded.
The results are far worse for students enrolled in some urban districts.
Among the 27 large urban districts for which the Department of Education published 2017 NAEP test scores, the Detroit public schools had the lowest percentage of students who scored proficient or better in math and the lowest percentage who scored proficient or better in reading.
Only 5 percent of Detroit public-school eighth graders were proficient or better in math. Only 7 percent were proficient or better in reading.
In the Cleveland public schools, only 11 percent of eight graders were proficient or better in math and only 10 percent were proficient or better in reading.
In the Baltimore public schools, only 11 percent were proficient or better in math and only 13 percent were proficient or better in reading.
In the Fresno public schools, only 11 percent were proficient or better in math and only 14 percent were proficient or better in reading.

Pavlenko committed to dedicating his remaining time to three goals: growing his oncology center, securing his family’s well-being, and launching a media effort to help other people navigate the sea of information available about the diagnosis.
When Andrey Pavlenko, a 39-year-old oncologist from St. Petersburg, began to feel stomach pains, he assumed it was an ulcer he had developed due to an irregular eating routine - and he went in for a gastroscopy.
The news was devastating - third-stage stomach cancer. Pavlenko, known as one of the best oncologists in Russia, knew his chances, but says he only allowed himself to be upset for a moment. Learning about the cancer - which he is dealing with almost every day - was a little bit easier for him than for the average patient, "but I was quite anxious at first," the doctor told Russian media outlet Afisha.
"The tremor came, although I am very robust psychologically," Pavlenko noted. "And then there came a hot wave from inside my head. But it faded away in a minute."
Officials in the UK sentenced baby Alfie to death this year when they denied his parents the ability to fly to Italy to receive free treatment at no cost the British government. The decision was entirely arbitrary as it had no bearing on Britain's healthcare system. They had nothing to lose by allowing the family to fly to Italy and they had everything to gain.
Instead of allowing the family a last stitch effort to save their baby's life however, the state effectively kidnapped him and had armed police officers standing outside the hospital to make sure he was left there to die. His parents, Kate and Tom, were helpless to resist.

A Southwest spokeswoman said the decision was made to divert the plane "for maintenance review of one of the multiple layers of a window pane."
Flight No. 957, which took off from Chicago Midway Airport, was diverted to Cleveland, Ohio, just before 11 a.m. - two hours after taking off, according to Flight View.
It landed safely at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, officials said.

house destroyed in airstrikes in Sanaa, Yemen, on April 19, 2018
Never seen before documents published as part of a new paper titled 'UK Personnel Supporting the Saudi Armed Forces - Risk, Knowledge and Accountability', suggest that some of the functions carried out by British personnel and arms companies in the Gulf kingdom may be more than what the Government is willing to admit.
According to the report, British arms deals to Saudi Arabia dating back to to 1985 have contained secret support clauses for British-made aircraft which tie British contractor and government personnel to Saudi military action, even if the UK is not itself involved directly.
These aircraft, namely Panavia Tornado and Eurofighter Typhoon fighters, have been conducting continuous airstrikes against targets in Yemen since the country erupted into civil war in 2015, with strong claims made by human rights organizations that war crimes are being conducted, including the use of cluster munitions.
