Guess what, liberals? Harvard poll finds approx 80% of all voters say US needs secure borders - including 68% of Democrats

U.S. Border Patrol agent Jerry Conlin looks out over Tijuana, Mexico, behind, along the old border wall along the U.S. - Mexico border, where it ends at the base of a hill in San Diego, June 13, 2013.
A wide-reaching new poll conducted by Harvard University reveals that majorities of U.S. voters - including Democrats - appear to agree with many of President Trump's most basic beliefs about immigration.

The findings reveal, for example, that eight out of 10 of all U.S. voters - 79 percent - say the U.S. needs secure borders; 93 percent of Republicans, 80 percent of independents and 68 percent of Democrats agree with that.

Another 79 percent of voters overall say immigration priorities should be granted on a person's "ability to contribute to America"; 87 percent of Republicans, 79 percent of independents and 72 percent of Democrats agree.

Comment: The libs have little memory or anything to say when Obama took aggressive action at the US/Mexico border:
Despite media reports to the contrary, CBP officers and agents operating under the Trump Administration responded the same way they did during the Obama Administration when, in 2013, migrants rushed the same stretch of border, Breitbart News' Neil Munro reported.

Democrat congressional leaders and Hollywood activists teamed up to condemn the Trump Administration's use of force in defending the border but ignored President Obama's prior, identical response.

Pop star Rihanna accused the Trump Administration of "terrorism" for spraying tear gas at the border. Others called for the president's impeachment over the clash.

Macron's 'revolution' is failing: The French are fed up

President Emmanuel Macron's bid to restore faith in politicians in France seems to have failed as the country faces another anti-elite revolt
Jean-Baptiste Moreau, a farmer who splits his time between parliament and his cow sheds, thought he would be part of the solution to France's political problems when he was elected.

The 41-year-old won a seat in parliament in June 2017 in what some commentators termed a "velvet revolution" led by President Emmanuel Macron, which saw grumpy voters turf out a whole generation of MPs from the country's main political parties.

Macron's victorious centrist movement filled half its parliamentary seats with people who had never held political office before, including Moreau, who posted a picture on Twitter of himself delivering a calf on Christmas Day.

But less than two years after the biggest turnover in political personnel in 60 years, France has faced another anti-elite revolt led by "yellow vest" protesters commanding widespread public support.

Comment: Macron is likely to go the way of his predecessor Louis XVI (if only figuratively) if he is not careful. Unfortunately for him, he is beholden to the PTB who placed him in his position as president. Macron answers to them, not to his citizens. There is no option for him to change course. The state crackdowns will continue and escalate in violence.

Question

What is Liminality? Understanding social hysteria in the West

liminality
Radical changes of identity, happening suddenly and in very brief intervals of time, have proved more deadly and destructive of human values than wars fought with hardware weapons.
-Marshall McLuhan, Laws of Media: The New Science
Probably most people reading this-especially if they spend a lot of time on the Internet-are aware of the growing phenomenon of "social justice warriors" with hair-trigger mouths and clicking mice, fiercely practicing intolerance in the name of tolerance.

Earlier this year, in the small (pop: 6000) Canadian town where I live, a group called Culture Guard were scheduled to speak at the local Royal Canadian Legion. The subject was a nationwide, multi-leveled educational program called SOGI (Sexual Orientation Gender Identification), ostensibly directed towards encouraging "tolerance." Culture Guard is a conservative organization whose mission is to uphold citizen-driven democracy and community values and expose what they call the "tyranny of politically correct idiotology."

The event was cancelled after the Legion received 900+ email complaints, including threats. Much to my surprise, the reaction on Facebook to this was mostly gushing gratitude that this diabolical hate group had been righteously silenced. Two fairly typical comments: "Hope we've run these poisonous haters out of town" and "No bible thumping flatlander would dare show their face because hate has a weak foundation."

Apparently, nothing is more immoral to the new moralists than old-style moralism, and if you aren't in a state of fear or loathing these days-possibly both-you probably aren't participating in "the debate." We have entered a liminal zone in which up can become down, right turn left, and virtue trades places with vice in the time it takes to say "What's your pronoun?"

Immigration group files racketeering lawsuit to force Southern Poverty Law Center to revoke 'hate' label

One of the most prominent groups advocating for stricter immigration went to court Wednesday to demand a judge order the Southern Poverty Law Center to stop labeling it a "hate group," accusing the self-described watchdog of running an illegal racket to silence political opponents.

The Center for Immigration Studies says the SPLC's accusations that it is racist and anti-immigrant are wrong and have cost the nonprofit support and financial backing by scaring people away from doing business with the center.

The center brought its challenge to U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by filing a civil complaint under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act against SPLC President Richard Cohen and Heidi Beirich, who runs the group's Hatewatch blog.

Mark Krikorian, the Center for Immigration Studies executive director, says his organization doesn't meet the SPLC's definition of a hate group and the Alabama-based watchdog knows it but persists anyway - which he said was evidence of the racket.

Comment: The SPLC, a 'non-profit' legal advocacy group with a substantial war chest specializes in hate - while it claims to be a monitor it does an outstanding job of spreading hate, using smear tactics and intimidation to silence its political opponents:

Newly-elected Minnesota Congresswoman draws accusations of 'unbelievable' bigotry and anti-Semitism

Ilhan Omar (R) on Capitol Hill.
Newly-elected Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar found herself in the spotlight, not for passing legislation, but for defending herself against accusations of homophobia, bigotry, and anti-Semitism from all sides.

Omar's victory in November was a milestone for identity politics. But even as the first Somali-American and one of two Muslim women elected to Congress last year, accusations of intolerance have dogged her first days in office.

In a tweet posted Tuesday, Omar shared a video of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) denouncing then-candidate Trump in 2015. Now, with Graham a reliable supporter of Trump in the Senate, Omar suggested "They got to him, he is compromised!"

US Christians protect Christians in the Middle East while ignoring persecution in the West

christianity
ISIS represents the single most prominent national or pseudo national entity that makes the persecution of Christians a central part of its activity. The would-be Islamic Caliphate is widely understood to be on its last legs, having been destroyed or driven out of most of the Syrian territory and Iraq, which it had gained in surprisingly swift conquests during the administration of US President Barack Obama. However, ISIS is not the only persecutor of followers of Jesus Christ. In fact, Christianity is by far the most widely persecuted religion on earth, with the last 100 years seeing more martyrdoms than in the entire history of Christianity before.

In this video, released by Fox Entertainment, Dede Laugesen discusses the activity of Christians in the US moving to help those abroad. The video is well worth watching, but with additional considerations.

Persecution of Christians has many forces, and although this piece largely concerns itself with causing the physical death of Christian believers, it also makes a point of "exclusion from civil society, loss of property, and many other things."

A police investigation in Oslo
A Russian national has been arrested by Norway police, who suspect him to be the perpetrator of a knife attack which happened in Oslo on Thursday. The crime is being investigated as "terror-related" by the authorities.

According to Norwegian media, the Tuesday attack happened in a store and left a woman in critical condition, after a man in his 20s stabbed her.

The suspected perpetrator was arrested later and reportedly had a knife, which the police believe to have been used in the attack.

A man has been rushed to intensive care and is being treated for burns after setting himself on fire in central Prague, almost 50 years to the day since a student committed suicide by doing the same in an anti-Soviet protest.

According to Prague police, the man poured fuel on himself before igniting it, shortly after 3pm. Passersby on the busy square panicked and extinguished the flames, and the man was taken to hospital with burn wounds.

He has been placed into an artificial coma, and has burns on 30 percent of his body, according to an emergency services spokesperson. He is believed to be a Czech man in his 50s.
