Palestinian medical sources confirmed that the Palestinian woman, who was killed by Israeli army fire, on Wednesday, did not carry an explosive belt as the army claimed, but was instead five months pregnant, and "her only fault was walking the wrong route and not understanding Hebrew."

The Israeli police and army tried to come up with various allegations, including the usual claim of "carrying a knife," and then tried to claim that she "was wearing an explosive belt," while the only thing she "carried" was her fetus.

The slain woman has been identified as Maram Saleh Abu Ismael, 24, a mother of two children; Sarah, 6, and Remas, 4. Her brother, Ibrahim Taha, only sixteen years of age, was also killed as he was walking with her, heading to Jerusalem, after she obtained for the first time, a permit to enter the city.

While these killing were taking place in Israel, in Washington, D.C. 83 sitting U.S. Senators were signatories of a letter calling on the White House to immediately increase military aid to Israel, currently the largest recipient of foreign military aid in the world by a significant margin — equaling 53% of all U.S. foreign military financing.

The current military aid package to Israel, set to expire in 2018, gives the Israelis $3 billion dollars annually. Israel is reportedly demanding an increase to at least $5 billion per year in military support, according to The Times of Israel.

Mayra Martinez, 31, had a bad first day on the job at the local Scores Bar in Jacksonville. That afternoon, she became intoxicated, quit, and refused to leave, so police were called — this would turn her bad day into a horrifying one.

When police arrived at the bar around 5 p.m., they arrested Martinez and charged her with trespassing and resisting.

According to the police report, Martinez was drunk and belligerent when two officers showed up to remove her from the property. One of those officers was Akinyemi Borisade, 26. When police tried to place her in handcuffs, Martinez tried to kick and bite officers, according to the report. However, as Martinez is much smaller than the two officers who were taking her in, they were easily able to overpower her.

Gangs of the Bronx: Over 120 charged in largest bust in New York City's history

More than a hundred people linked to gangs and multiple murders have been charged with crimes in the Bronx, New York by law enforcement, marking what is being called the biggest bust in the city's history. Many of them were arrested Wednesday morning.

About 120 gang members have been charged with crimes, according to US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara. Currently, about 100 people are in custody, WABC reported.

"My message to gang members is: Unless you want jail or death, don't do it," Bharara said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The alleged gang members and gang associates were arrested during a series of early morning raids on Wednesday that targeted five different housing complexes. WABC reported that "heavily armed" officers raided the buildings, and revealed that armored vehicles were also deployed.

Although the operation was led by the New York Police Department, federal law enforcement officials were involved as well, including more than 300 Homeland Security Investigation members, the New York Daily News stated. Officials from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the US Marshals, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also took part.

Comment: As a part of the living system, human beings have a moral and social obligation to Mother Nature and these animals. We destroy the natural habitat of these beautiful creatures then throw them in cages allegedly for their welfare, killing them off on a whim. What a horrifying and sad commentary life on humanity and its relationship with this planet.


A Norwegian zoo has been criticized for euthanizing a zebra, cutting off its head, and feeding it to tigers in the view of the public, including children. Some visitors to Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park were outraged by the zoo's actions, which claimed it was done due to a surplus zebra population.

A parent visiting the zoo last week took a picture of the beheaded carcass and posted it to Facebook saying, "Took a look at the tigers today. What met me was a little macabre," according to NRK. Another visitor expressed their disgust saying, "A little too macabre for me. Animals eat animals, but I did not think I would see that at the zoo."

Park veterinarian Rolf-Arne Ølberg defended the park's decision, telling NRK, "There is no point hiding it away. I understand why people react, but it is quite normal that a tiger or lion eats a prey."

Asked why the carcass couldn't have been cut into sections to avoid the gruesome sight, Ølberg said the corpse stimulates the tiger's natural behavior, forcing them to use their claws and teeth to tear it apart. Technically, this would never actually happen in the wild since there are no tigers in Africa, where zebra roam.

Child psychologist Magne Raundalen disagreed with the park's decision, saying that while animals eating animals is natural, "adults beheading a zebra and adding it to an exhibit in front of unsuspecting children" is not.

One of Mexico's top crime fighters is under investigation over a key incident in the probe into the apparent massacre of 43 trainee teachers in 2014, the attorney general's office said on Thursday, adding a twist to a case that has shaken the country.

The probe into officials including Tomas Zeron, head of the attorney general's criminal investigation agency, was triggered by a report by a panel of experts questioning the circumstances in which a charred bone fragment was discovered in a river.

The fragment belonged to the only one of the 43 whose remains have been definitively identified, evidence which has sustained the government's version the teachers were murdered by a drug gang, incinerated and dumped into the river.

Video footage of police brutality has emerged from Copenhagen, showing officers hitting people with batons and violently detaining a man, despite onlookers saying he couldn't breathe. A videographer filming the chaos was left injured and bloodied.

The violence took place in Copenhagen's Christiania district as police were reportedly targeting the area's cannabis market.

The video, filmed and published online by documentary group Cadok, shows officers hitting people with batons as they run through the district. "Police suddenly began hitting everyone who was watching," Cadok wrote on Facebook.

Officers are seen detaining a man while bystanders shout that he can't breathe. A separate clip reportedly shows police pulling a handicapped man out of his wheelchair.

It's been a good week for employees of Chobani. They learned that they could eventually own about 10 percent of the rapidly expanding Greek yogurt company. That could potentially make millionaires of some workers, if the privately held company is sold or goes public.

It's a grand gesture, and reflects a rising trend in employee ownership.

Chobani's meteoric rise began in a defunct old Kraft yogurt manufacturing plant in upstate New York. Founder Hamdi Ulukaya's only experience in the dairy business was that his mother made delicious strained yogurt in his hometown in Turkey.

Now, a decade later, the company has reached $1 billion in annual sales. It has two factories, 2,000 employees and is worth an estimated $3 billion.

Filmmaker Michael Moore has warned President Obama that riots will begin in the troubled Michigan city of Flint unless their poisoned water crisis is resolved.

The native son, who first became known nationwide for his 1989 gritty documentary Roger & Me, wrote an open letter to the president in advance of his first visit to the 'Vehicle City' since lead contamination decimated the water supply in 2014.

Moore warned Obama not to "make one of those 'we need to rebuild America's infrastructure' speeches" during his May 4 stop, because the problem isn't infrastructure but rather "a hate crime and mass poisoning of Black and poor people."

His message ended with an ominous "The riots here, I'm certain, will begin sometime soon."

People power: Residents in Pennsylvania town fighting to prevent Nestle from stealing their water

A small town in Pennsylvania is the latest to be targeted by Nestlé Waters North America, which, in typical fashion, is seeking to extract millions of gallons of freshwater to bottle and sell for an obscene profit — whether or not local residents approve.

Nestlé sneakily began testing waters in the Kunkeltown area as far back as 2012; but residents wouldn't have discovered the desire for its water at all had the mega-corporation not rented an office in the community center, as Truthout reported. In fact, Nestlé's plans comprise no small operation, as Truthout explained:

"In the permit application that Nestlé Waters filed with the Township, it states the company is proposing to drill two large wells, pump 200,000 gallons of water per day from the aquifer, put it in trucks and transfer it to an existing bottling facility near Allentown, about 20 miles away. It expects 60 truck trips through the town per day. And Nestlé isn't going away anytime soon: It plans to pump for 10 years with an option to continue pumping for an additional 15 years, leading to the removal of 73 million gallons of water from the aquifer over the life of the wells."

True to form of its insidious and often covert business methods concerning bottled water operations, Nestlé was able to submit a permit application for bulk water extraction after Eldred Township changed an ordinance in May 2014. Though it's unclear whether Nestlé had a hand in the switch, with the company already testing waters at the time and the fact the Township failed to inform residents certainly lends credence to the theory.

Prior to the ordinance change, as Truthout noted, "bulk water extraction ... was explicitly illegal in places zoned for commercial use."
