Seattle's anarchist utopia is already breaking down, CHAZ residents call for the guillotine

"An anarchist is someone who doesn't need a cop to make him behave," American anarchist Ammon Hennacy once wrote. Based on the scenes playing out in Seattle's Antifa-occupied 'autonomous zone', Hennacy was dead wrong.

A ragtag collective of Antifa types, anarchists, socialists, and 'Black Lives Matter' activists have occupied a six-block area around an abandoned police precinct in downtown Seattle for a week now. Roads into the 'Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone' (CHAZ) have been blockaded, and the would-be revolutionaries inside have set in motion a bold experiment: to prove that a cop-free society, based on "mutual aid," can sustain itself.

Sunday night seems to have proven otherwise. When the owner of an auto shop in the zone found a man attempting to light his business on fire, he detained the culprit, or so he told a crowd gathered outside. However, rather than let their comrade be handed over to law enforcement, the crowd set about pulling down the fence around the lot, in a bid to free the thwarted arsonist.

"The police won't come," the owner told a cameraman. "The fire department won't even come. This is really bad for business. Covid was bad enough, and now this stuff basically put the icing on the cake."

A lesson from history: Unchecked, Seattle's CHAZ will become a violent no-go zone straight out of the European Antifa playbook

Antifa's newly created Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone in Seattle is straight from the playbook of their European counterparts who have established anti-police no-go squatter areas in European cities for decades.

The tactic of declaring an area "autonomous" and outside of police and government authority is relatively new to the United States hard-left, but has a deep history among Antifa extremists in Europe and has led to pitched battles and scenes of massive violence when police have tried to enforce government authority in Antifa strongholds.

While the original Antifa movement was a paramilitary wing of the German Communist Party in the 1930s, the current Antifa began in the "autonomous scene" of West Germany in the 1980s and went hand in hand with anarchists occupying various buildings, many of which remain occupied, with national laws unenforced, to this day.

Animal baby boom at Palestinian zoo after people disappear

Peacocks, ostriches and baboons joined in an animal baby boom at a Palestinian zoo during the coronavirus closure as they let nature take its course free from human distractions.

Fifteen animals were born at the tiny Qalqilya Zoo in the Israeli-occupied West Bank during the two months that it shut its doors to visitors - three times more than usual, zoo officials said.

"The coronavirus spread at the same time that trips were expected at the zoo. They were canceled and therefore the animals started to give birth," said zoo veterinarian Sami Khader.

An ostrich that laid eggs in normal years rarely had the chance to incubate them properly. But this year she produced 11 eggs and "because there weren't people around her, she was able to build a nest", he said.

In the monkey enclosure, usually bedeviled by miscarriages, one baboon gave birth, although she had little inclination to take care of the baby.

YouTube is automatically deleting any comments about "black lives matter violence"

youtube
In recent times, it's been discovered that YouTube has automatic filters in place to auto-delete certain phrases and now it has been shown that YouTube is automatically censoring comments that link Black Lives Matter to violence.

At the time of writing, when commenting on a YouTube video, using the phrase "Black Lives Matter violence" will have your comment automatically deleted.

We first received reports from two YouTube users who were trying to comment on a news video that was talking about peaceful protesting. The users wanted to leave a comment to say that there were several incidences of Black Lives Matter protests that had descended into violence. However, after leaving their comment and checking back on it later, they found that it had disappeared.

After reporting this to us, we tested a few things ourselves to see what was happening.

We've managed to discover that any phrase that mentions "Black lives matter violence" in the YouTube comment system gets automatically deleted.

Comment: Because supporting an ideological movement means covering up for it and keeping its image squeaky clean - despite reality.

Norway's data inspectorate has banned the use of a public health application to control the spread of COVID-19 over data protection concerns.

The application Smittestopp "collects large amounts of personal information about those who use the app, including continuous location data and information about users' contact with others," the Norwegian Data Protection Authority said in a statement on Monday.

The app was set up to use both GPS and Bluetooth to track people's movements to determine the effects of social distancing and who the users come into contact with. The information gathered is then stored for 30 days.

Norway's public health institute said the decision to temporarily ban the app would "weaken an important part of our preparedness" and reduce the agency's ability to "fight the ongoing spread of infection."

Norway has recorded 8,631 cases and 242 deaths in a country with a population of 5.3 million people.

Comment: The coronavirus is not and has never been a real existential threat. What is a real threat is government authorities (and private companies for that matter) having access to people's location history and a list of people with whom they've associated. That is what people should be concerned about.

Cop who shot Rayshard Brooks is without a job & declared guilty by media before any trial is held

A Wendy’s burns following a rally against the police shooting of Rayshard Brooks, in Atlanta, Georgia, June 13, 2020
Rayshard Brooks apparently was drunk, resisted arrest, and took a cop's taser. He lost his life for this, and the officer involved has been thrown under the bus by his superiors and fired. Is this justice, or mob rule?

Rayshard Brooks fell asleep at a Wendy's drive-through in Atlanta on Friday night, reportedly prompting staff to call the police. After failing a sobriety test, Brooks resisted arrest, stole a taser from an officer, and fled. He was fatally shot by Officer Garrett Rolfe after he fired the stolen taser at police, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation claims.

Were the country not already consumed with race-infused riots, Brooks' death would likely be another statistic. An unfortunate incident, a local news story for the weekend.

Norway halts Covid-19 tracking app over privacy fears, low infection spread

Norway covid tracking app

Norway is halting its Covid-19 tracking app and will delete the data it has already collected after the country's data protection watchdog criticized its continued use amid privacy concerns.

The Norwegian Data Protection Authority said on Friday that it was no longer reasonable to collect data through the app considering the low spread of the infection and concerns about privacy. It gave the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) notice of its decision to put in place a temporary ban on processing personal data.

The Smittestopp app was created in a bid to limit the spread of the coronavirus but the data watchdog believes its use is no longer appropriate given the low-levels of the virus in the Scandanavian country. The app has been downloaded 1.6 million times and has 600,00 active users, according to NIPH figures.

"We don't agree with the DPA's evaluation, but feel it is necessary to delete all data and put work on hold as a result of this," NIPH's director Camilla Stoltenberg said on Monday. She added that this would "weaken an important part of our preparedness against a spread in infection, as we now lose time for development and testing of the app."

Russian court finds ex-US marine Paul Whelan guilty of espionage, sentences him to 16 years in prison

Eighteen months after he was arrested in a Moscow hotel room and accusing of spying, a Russian court has handed down a 16 year jail term to Paul Whelan, a national of four western countries: Canada, Ireland, the US and the UK.

The 50-year-old defendant described the trial, partly held behind closed doors, as a "sham" and protested his innocence throughout the process. After Monday morning's verdict, he immediately stated that he intends to appeal. There have been suggestions that Whelan could be returned to the US in a prisoner swap.

His lawyer has named Viktor Bout and Konstantin Yaroshenko - two Russians jailed in the US - as potential candidates. Bout, who Russia considers a 'political prisoner,' is serving a 25-year term for arms dealing. Meanwhile, Yaroshenko was arrested in Liberia in 2010 in what the Russian Foreign Ministry described as a "kidnapping" and brought to the US. He had never set foot in the country before. Russian authorities have repeatedly complained about the harsh conditions and lack of medical care he has received in US prison.

Anti-Cultural Revolution: Portland protesters topple statue of Thomas Jefferson, father of US Declaration of Independence

A group of demonstrators in Portland has torn down a statue of Thomas Jefferson in front of a school bearing his name, fanning the flames of a growing cultural divide in the US as activists target landmarks deemed racist.

Around 1,000 people gathered at Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon on Sunday to listen to speeches before setting off on a Black Lives Matter march across the city. Later in the evening, a crowd reconvened at the school and set their sights on a statue of the third US president and principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Two ropes were tied around the statue's neck as the group labored to pull Jefferson off his pedestal - which had already been defaced with graffiti reading "slave owner."

Videos show the group tugging on the ropes, eventually sending the statue falling onto the concrete steps in front of the school.

Comment: As the Left's "cancel culture" has proven, it does not matter how much good a person has done, past or present. If they represent traditional Western culture and society and have done even one "bad thing," they will attack. Today's version of totalitarianism isn't in the form of a soldier's boot on our throats, but rather a bunch of Karens scolding people and destroying anything that they don't like. Be careful if they are able to get a hold of any real political power.

A U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter jet crashed into the North Sea off the coast of Britain on Monday and the condition of the pilot is unknown.

The USAF 48th Fighter Wing, based at the RAF Lakenheath station, said in a statement the F-15C Eagle crashed during a training mission early Monday morning. Though some F-15s can carry two pilots, military officials said the "C" variant involved in Monday's crash carried just one.

"The cause of the crash as well as the status of the pilot are unknown at this time, and U.K. Search and Rescue have been called to support," it said.
