A power failure caused delays on multiple subway lines during the morning commute for many New Yorkers, leaving commuters stranded and furious.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said they were investigating the signal problems and people should allow for extra travel time.

In a tweet, the agency reminded New Yorkers that if a train delay made them late for work, school or an appointment, they could obtain a late-train verification via its website.

That prompted a chorus of Twitter snark from commuters from "business as usual then," to "FIX THE TRAINS!!!!!,""are any trains on time today!? or yesterday? or ever?!"

A 21-year-old woman was the only survivor of the shooting horror that unfolded in a village in central Russia over the weekend. The suspect, who has now been arrested, killed nine people by shooting "directly at their heads."

"He hit [them] with a muzzle and fired point-blank. There were bodies with half of their faces missing," the woman, whose boyfriend was killed in the rampage, said, choking up with tears. She managed to escape detection by hiding under a blanket, although five men and four women were murdered in the attack on Saturday night.

The suspect, who has been identified as 45-year-old Sergey Egorov from Moscow, was temporarily living at his mother's house in the village of Redkino, Tver Region, about two hours' drive from the Russian capital.

Harvard University rescinds admissions for at least 10 prospective students over offensive Facebook posts

Harvard College has rescinded admissions offers to at least 10 prospective students after they posted offensive photos and messages on social media.

The Harvard Crimson reports a number of students admitted to the Class of 2021 started a private Facebook messaging group for incoming Freshman titled "Harvard memes for horny bourgeois teens."

Students in the group allegedly posted and shared messages joking about the Holocaust, mocking sexual assault and the abuse of children. The messages also allegedly targeted racial and ethnic groups, according to the Crimson. One alleged meme called the imaginary hanging of a Mexican child "piñata time."

After learning of the group's existence and its contents in April, at least 10 members of the group chat received letters informing them that their offers of admission had been reversed. The decision to rescind a student's offer is final, university officials previously told the Crimson.

Chief of the capital's police shows picture of gunman Jessie Javier Carlos to journalists.
Philippines police on Sunday revealed that the Resorts World Manila attacker was 42-year-old father-of-three Jessie Javier Carlos, a Catholic man with a gambling addiction and no connection to terrorism.

"He was barred by Pagcor (the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) from all casinos because of the request of next of kin. This could have probably triggered him. That's why he was so mad at casinos," police spokesman Oscar Albayalde told a news conference, as cited by AFP. "As we always maintained, this was not an act of terrorism," he added.

University of Toronto Prof. Jordan Peterson speaks at the Sandford Fleming building in Toronto on Feb. 4, 2017.
Journalists are already self-censoring in the toxic fallout from the CBC's cultural appropriation controversy, University of Toronto Prof. Dr. Jordan Peterson says.

Peterson, whose fight against mandatory use of genderless pronouns drew international attention, said the impact of political correctness on free speech and broader society is profound.
"This is why I've been warning about the emergence of such ideas at the university,"
Peterson told The Toronto Sun.
"Anybody who thinks these ideas are going to stay in the university, believe me, they're engaging in wishful thinking."
A number of prominent journalists have been criticized for their recent participation in a debate about cultural appropriation, whether writers using the creations of other cultures are exploring or exploiting them.

According to government data, 462 far-right extremists with warrants out for their arrest are still at large in Germany. Ulla Jelpke, a lawmaker for Die Linke (The Left) party, said the figure indicates the presence of an "established Nazi underground."

The German Interior Ministry released the figures in response to a parliamentary inquiry from Die Linke, Funke Media Group newspapers reported on Sunday.

According to the data, nearly 600 arrest warrants for the 462 extremists have not been carried out to date.

While the West continues to punish the Syrian people with restrictions, more than 164,000 individuals suffer from cancer and need special medical treatment in the war-torn state, according to the World Health Organization.

Over 164,000 people in Syria suffer from cancer and require special medical treatment, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Syria Elizabeth Hoff told Sputnik on Monday, adding that the organization needed additional funds to provide assistance to ailing Syrians.
"According to the Syrian Cancer Registry statistics, 139,145 patients received cancer treatments in 2016. Additionally, about 25,000 new cancer patients are in need of treatment in 2017 (including patients from the private sector). The number of cancer patients in Syria is estimated to be much higher (up to three times as high) given disruptions in cancer registry reporting, mass population movement, limited follow-up and continuity of care, and lack of data regarding survival rates," Hoff said.

No longer a conspiracy theory: Elite openly paying to ingest the blood of the young to live longer

blood ingesting
What was once talk of conspiracy theorists is now hitting the mainstream as the country's elite line up to pay thousands of dollars to ingest the blood of the young. They have no problem admitting it either.

Once the talk of conspiracy theorists — the rich ingesting the blood of the young to foster longevity — is now a reality and an actual business in the United States. Not only is it a business but billionaires are actually admitting their interest in it.
"I'm looking into parabiosis stuff, which I think is really interesting. This is where they did the young blood into older mice and they found that had a massive rejuvenating effect,"
Peter Thiel, the billionaire co-founder of PayPal and adviser to Donald Trump told Inc. magazine.
"I think there are a lot of these things that have been strangely under-explored."
But it's no longer an experiment with just mice. The startup company by Jesse Karmazin, Ambrosia, is doing this with humans, and the rich are lining up to get the blood of the young.

14-year-old Malak al-Ghalith, detained on May 28, 2017
Israeli authorities detained eight Palestinian women and girls over the past month, the youngest of which was 14-year-old Malak al-Ghalith from al-Jalazun refugee camp in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah, according to a statement released Saturday by the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners' Affairs.

Malak was detained on May 28 at Israel's Qalandiya military checkpoint for allegedly attempting to carry out a stabbing attack. Israeli forces pepper-sprayed the young girl before locking her inside a container for two hours, where Israeli soldiers insulted, cursed, and laughed at her while taking pictures of her, according to lawyers for the committee Hanan al-Khatib and Hiba Masalha.

The lawyers reported that Malak was interrogated for four hours before being transferred to Israel's HaSharon prison.

Some 56 Palestinian women are currently being imprisoned by Israel, according to the committee's statement. However, prisoners' rights group Addameer said that there were 61 Palestinian women and girls in Israeli custody as of April.

British wages are in a free-fall; only Greece is doing worse

British suffered the biggest wage slump of all Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries except for Greece in the past year.

According to a London School of Economics (LSE) paper, Brits were the worst off when it came to their real wages, with pay falling by more than five percent between 2007 and 2015.

Researchers for the prestigious British university also found that all types of British earners, with the exception of pensioners and minimum wage workers, were no better off today than they were in 2008.

The only economy performing worse than Britain was austerity-ravaged Greece, which saw its salaries drop more than 10 percent in the same period.

Annual pay raises in the UK continue to stay below the pre-financial crash rate of around four percent. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) placed current annual salary growth at just below 2.5 percent.

British real wages saw a mild improvement in the last two years, as inflation fell. But with consumer prices on the rise due to a slumping pound and Brexit-fearful markets, the average British salary is now slipping once more.
