Some 150,000 civilians are believed to be trapped inside west Mosul's Old City, where the terrorists intend to use them as human shields, according to UN deputy special representative and humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Lise Grande, who spoke to AP on Friday.

Some 860,000 people have already fled Mosul, she said.

She described the civilians' plight as "desperate," as there is almost no food or water in the area.

Pathologically driven "exorcisms" amount to abuse: Two new cases in US

Kimberly Felder

Kimberly Felder
A Ferndale woman was arrested Friday after she allegedly was seen on a Humboldt County beach striking, biting and choking her 11-year-old child in an attempted exorcism.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call abut 9 a.m. reporting a mother attacking her child at Centerville beach near Ferndale. The caller said the mother was attempting to perform an exorcism. She had stripped the child naked and was shoving handfuls of sand in the youngster's eyes and mouth, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. The woman reportedly stated that she was trying to remove demons from the child.

The mother was identified as 45-year-old Kimberly Felder.

The alleged assault was witnessed by a crowd of 10 to 12 people, the news release said. A local resident, John Marciel, stepped in and tried to restrain Felder. He struggled with her on the ground as Felder continued to attack the child, hitting the youngster in the head with a piece of driftwood, according to the news release.

Comment: Even allowing for the reality of demonic possession, it seems sadly like more and more pathological individuals are projecting their own sickness onto others and using it as a justification to attack or abuse them for it - kind of like the way the US has been attacking Russia.

Soon you won't be allowed to say "patriot" if the liberals have their way

hand over heart
There was a time when liberals and conservatives both agreed on one thing. They both used to love their country. Though they differed on what values and policies would be best for their homeland, they still had that shred of common ground.

That's clearly no longer the case. Across the Western world, you'll find that even moderate liberals are often uncomfortable with terms like "patriotism" and "nationalism." As for the far-left, they now view these terms as poisonous and archaic. That's because they want the whole world to be one big happy family, where borders are meaningless, people can freely move from one country to the next, and no society is inherently better than another. They preach diversity, but they want the world to be blended into one drab monoculture that falls in line with their beliefs.

So it was only a matter of time before leftists would start being triggered by patriotic rhetoric. It's happening in Australia, where Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull recently stated that he wants the government to tighten citizenship and visa requirements.

A teacher of the year photoshoot has become an instant hit online after one of the teachers decided to pay tribute to the LGBTQ community by posing next to the President and First Lady Trump in a "sassy" outfit with a fan, which Donald himself commended.

Nikos Giannopoulos, 29, a special education teacher at the Beacon Charter High School for the Arts, was named Rhode Island's teacher of the year 2017. While a laudable achievement in its own right, Giannopoulos used his visit to the White House to make a bold statement on behalf of the LGBTQ community in the United States.

"When I think back to my time in the White House, I will not remember the person seated at the desk," Giannopoulos wrote in a Facebook post, adding that instead he will think of the teachers he met who have fought for the rights of minorities and refugees, and the LGBTQ youth who each have a struggle in their lives.
