MoveOn.org, an organization supported by George Soros, is holding a demonstration outside the US Department of Justice Thursday calling for Jeff Sessions to resign from the office of attorney general.

The political campaign group is urging members of the public to join them in Washington DC to put pressure on Sessions to step down amid allegations he lied under oath.

Comment: It would be one thing to protest the Sessions appointment on some grounds that had to do with reality, but what we're seeing here is the elites effectively using many thousands of clueless people to help do the dirty work of political assassination. Stay tuned.

Concordia University in Montreal has been evacuated following bomb threats against Muslim students. A subsequent sweep found no explosives, while university officials branded the threats as "hateful and violent expression of intolerance."

The university received the threat letters early Wednesday morning and swiftly notified the police, triggering the evacuation of three campus facilities - the Hall Building, the EV Building and the GM Building. The letter was signed by a group calling itself the 'Council of conservative citizens of Canada' (C4).

Lawsuit: PayPal plays fast and loose with charity money

A proposed class action lawsuit filed in Chicago has accused PayPal of deception over charitable donations, when it diverted funds without informing the donor or the intended recipient, despite confirming the donation in emails.

Terry Kass, the lead plaintiff in the case, claims she used PayPal's platform to give $3,250 to thirteen charities, including ten Chicago ones, in December 2016. Despite receiving an email confirming she had made the donations to the designated charity, she discovered the company failed to distribute the money to 10 of them. Only $100 was sent to three charities of her choosing, with the rest withheld by the company.

The lawsuit was filed in Chicago's federal district court on Monday and accuses the internet payment company of systematic deception and potentially depriving charities of millions of dollars in donations, while donors are not acknowledged for their support.

The internet payment company with over 200 million accounts moved $354 billion in 57 currencies across more than 190 nations, generating a total revenue of $10.8 billion in 2016, according to its 4th quarter results. The lawsuit claims PayPal's actions amounted to unjust enrichment, conversion, and a violation of consumer protection laws. It also accuses the company of misusing the brands and trademarks of the local charities.

Comment: No matter the service provider, charitable donors should follow up on their donations with the designated recipients.

Manmade earthquakes: 3M Americans threatened

fracking operation

California is known for its earthquakes, but now Oklahoma and Kansas have the same risk levels, according to USGS forecasts of human-caused quakes. Many are concerned that it may be related to mining for oil through hydraulic fracturing.

An annual seismic hazard forecast released Wednesday claims that the risks posed by human-induced tremors are increasing in Kansas and Oklahoma. In 2016, Oklahoma had the highest risk of earthquake-related damage and in September experienced the largest shock in the state to date.

The report from US Geological Survey (USGS) scientists predicted that while the strength of temblors was increasing in Oklahoma, the overall number of earthquakes was predicted to decrease. In fact, the number has been on a steady decline since 2015, the Oklahoman reported.

Comment: One thing always leads to another...cause and effect become cause and effect. So, what does the USGS have to say:
Does the production of natural gas from shales cause earthquakes? If so, how are the earthquakes related to these operations? Fracking causes extremely small earthquakes, but they are almost always too small to be a safety concern. In addition to natural gas, fracking fluids and salt water trapped in the same formation as the gas are returned to the surface. These wastewaters are frequently disposed of by injection into deep wells. The injection of wastewater and salt water into the subsurface can cause earthquakes that are large enough to be felt and may cause damage.

Oklahoma now has more earthquakes on a regular basis than California. Are they due to fracking? In a few cases, yes, but in most cases no. Most of the wells used to access the oil are completed without being fracked. The natural formation water that comes to the surface with the oil is too saline to be released into the environment. Injecting large volumes of water into the deep sedimentary formations raises the pore pressure over large areas that can induce earthquakes.

Is there any possibility that a wastewater injection activity could interact with a nearby fault to trigger a major earthquake that causes extensive damage over a broad region? So far, there is no conclusive example linking injection operations to triggering of major earthquakes, however we cannot eliminate this possibility.
What has not been considered here is the effect of the Sun on Planet Earth, considering we are entering a second cycle of a grand solar minimum (sun spots) and the correlation it has with the recent increase in strong earthquakes around the globe. It would stand to reason that the Oklahoma-Kansas-Texas locale is likewise subject to this phenomena.

'Groupthink?' Think tank proposes 80% of Britain's university lecturers are left-wing

Universities in the UK are at risk of developing a "dysfunctional atmosphere" and of practicing censorship because scholarship is dominated by lecturers with left-wing views, according to a new report by one of the world's leading think tanks. In its report, Lackademia: Why do academics lean Left? the Adam Smith Institute warns the "overrepresentation" of left-wing views in academia could lead to a "groupthink." It called on universities to pursue "ideological diversity."

"Social settings characterised by too little diversity of viewpoints are liable to become afflicted by groupthink, a dysfunctional atmosphere where key assumptions go unquestioned, dissenting opinions are neutralized, and favoured beliefs are held as sacrosanct," the report says.

It claims right-wing academics only make up 12 percent of lecturers at British universities, in stark contrast with the wider population, half of which support conservative views.

Comment: Warnings aside, researchers are already chasing a left-wing run-away freight train and equilibrium is, at least temporarily, a thing of the past.

Two transsexual persons from Pakistan arrested by Saudi police during a raid on a 'third gender' party later died in custody, a newspaper says. The report claims both were tortured to death by law enforcement officers.

The raid targeted a rest house in Riyadh, where a formal Khawaja Sara meeting was taking place, the Pakistani newspaper Express Tribune said. The Khawaja Sara is a Pakistani term referring to 'third gender', or people identifying themselves as transvestites, transsexuals and transgender. Most of the attendees were from Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to Qamar Naseem, a transgender rights activist.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd has authorized powerful new Tasers for police officers, despite concerns over the safety of the 'non-lethal' weapons.

Besides being more powerful, the new X2 model fires two shots, whereas the current X26 model delivers just one.

The new Taser can be used in situations that would otherwise involve police firearms units and has been approved despite Home Office experts acknowledging that a number of deaths have been caused by the less powerful version.

Immunizing against the thought virus: Syrian minister calls for new, anti-terror clergy

There is a necessity to create a new clergy in Syria, which will not be affected by terrorist ideas, to "rebuild" the country morally, Syrian Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments) Mohammad Abdul-Sattar Sayyed said Wednesday.

The minister added that Syrian President Bashar Assad ordered the ministry to re-educate people, who had been "zombified" by terrorists and to reach a "moral and spiritual" reconstruction of Syria.

"It is necessary to create a new group of people in Syria. They will be young imams, preachers, religious activists, who would be cleared from terrorist terms," Sayyed said.

According to the minister, terrorists used to teach children on the occupied territories within the framework of Wahhabi education programs.

Comment: Assuming Syria wins its war on terror (and signs look good at this point), it will emerge stronger and wiser. The steps announced by Assad and Sayyed are the right ones to take. As Harrison Koehli wrote for SOTT recently:
As bad as the bad times are, they give purpose: for progress and the rediscovery of lost values. A close encounter with evil forces us to gather the physical and mental strength to fight not only for our lives, but also for our sanity. Even though our first response is usually to turn to violence and military might (revolution, counter-revolution, civil war), that hotheadedness falls by the wayside with time and experience. In the cauldron of suffering and chaos, frivolous emotions eventually make way for sober reflection, and we're forced to regain lost powers of thought and discernment. Society eventually regains a healthier worldview: knowledge of self and others, old virtues and values, understanding the meaning of history. All of which eventually gives us the power to actually conquer evil by creating a new order out of the chaos.
These are lessons that the U.S. has yet to learn.

Two British medical students who left their university in Sudan to work as doctors for Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in Syria have been killed in Iraq, it has emerged.

Ahmad Sami Khider, who is in his mid-20s and from Carshalton in South London, is thought to have died last weekend in a convoy as he tried to flee the Iraqi city of Mosul, which US-backed Iraqi forces are trying to take back from IS militants.

The BBC reported that Hisham Fadlallah, from Nottinghamshire, whose age is unknown, was also killed. It is not known if he was killed in the same incident.

It is unclear whether Khider and Fadlallah were shot during combat with Iraqi forces or by IS for attempting to desert. Neither death is thought to have involved a drone strike.

The president of Sweden's ambulance union has called for enhanced security for his personnel when working in so-called "no-go zones," saying first responders need "special" military-grade equipment to withstand the dangers of the primarily migrant-populated areas.

Despite "dangerous situations" being nothing of extraordinary for ambulance workers, there are now areas in Sweden where even they "don't want to be in," head of the Swedish Ambulance Association ALARM, Gordon Grattidge told Swedish DGS TV.

"It's too dangerous to enter" areas in Sweden where "majority of the people are immigrants," Grattidge said in an interview with a Swedish journalist, published earlier this week.

Comment: It is getting very difficult to discern just what is going on in Sweden:
