France: Les Idiots de Déchets

france plastic
France has become the land of the idiots of waste.

As of the start of the year, the country has banned single-use plastic plates, cups, plastic bottles by school catering services and cotton swabs.

Plastic straws and cutlery will follow on January 1, 2021.

It gets worse from there, in years to follow "excessive" plastic wrapping, free plastic bottles and on, and on, will be banned.

This is all part of a French effort for a wider-ranging "anti-waste" law. A first version of the law aims to promote the "circular economy."

Of course, what this really means is the French have no understanding of the economics of waste and the fact that sometimes one-use items are the most efficient, that's why people, even French, use them.

The draconian waste laws are simply another step by the economically ignorant bureaucrats of the state of France to control and exercise power. The French masses are les idiots for falling for it.

President Putin makes a phenomenal revelation in his unscripted annual press conference

Putin Master of Memory
During President Vladimir Putin's four-and-a-half hour press conference on Thursday - the second longest on record in Russia; the longest in the rest of the world — he was congratulated several times by the audience for the answers he gave about the running of Russia. This is a regular feature. Putin's arranger Dmitry Peskov - his "boss" Putin called him at one point — didn't have to try hard to produce it.

After the conference concluded, the president's critics attacked him for saying nothing new, repeating himself, evading the point of the question, making promises he doesn't intend to keep, etc. The critics always say this. It's their regular feature. This is cyclical, according to one of the Twitter comments. "If there is anyone who wants to watch Putin's news conference but cannot do it today, don't worry. Next year you will watch a re-run."

What was new this time was that in Putin's performance, he cited 36 sets of state statistics in answer to 55 questions. Subtracting the time taken by the questioners and Peskov's audience management, Putin produced the numbers, new sets of them, every five minutes.

Comment: Many who have taken the time to listen to Putin talk at any number of his press conferences, town hall meetings or during major speaking events, such as the Valdai Discussion Club, would not argue against the notion that 'when Putin talks, people listen,' and are often awed by his grasp of subject matter, as discussed above. One particular aspect that also does not go unnoticed is Putin's ability to talk and connect with people on their level, including showing his humorous, genuine and compassionate side.
If the nation is not capable of preserving itself and reproducing, if it loses it vital bearings and ideals, then it doesn't need foreign enemies - it will fall apart on its own.

Hate-monger Michael Moore: Most white men 'are not good people, you (darkies?) should be afraid of them'

Comment: Spoken like a true, patronizing racist...

Michael Moore

Michael Moore declared that white people "are not good people" and that you should "be afraid" of them in an interview on "The Rolling Stone" podcast "Useful Idiot." Moore warned people that if they see a group of 3 white men approaching them that they should cross the street because at least 2 of them voted for Trump.

"I refuse to participate in post-racial America," Moore said. "I refuse to say because we elected Obama that suddenly that means everything is okay, white people have changed. White people have not changed."

Comment: You refuse to participate? So shut up then.

Comment: Are there really people who take this guy seriously anymore? Trump Derangement Syndrome has turned Moore's brain into mush.

US military claims it killed just 1,359 Syrian and Iraqi civilians since 'War on ISIS' began in 2014

Comment: Eh, no. For starters, Amnesty International found that some 1,600 Syrian civilians were killed just in the US carpet-bombing liberation of Raqqa between June and October 2017...

raqqa bombing ISIS

Raqqa was utterly destroyed by the US
The US-led coalition against the Daesh terrorist group killed nearly 1,360 civilians since the beginning of airstrikes in 2014, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement.
"The Coalition conducted 34,725 strikes between August 2014 and the end of November 2019. During this period, based on information available, CJTF-OIR assesses at least 1,359 civilians have been unintentionally killed by Coalition actions since the beginning of Operation Inherent Resolve."
In November 2019, the coalition continued investigating 87 opened reports and received 47 new reports.
"Out of the 52 completed casualty allegation reports, four reports were determined to be credible and resulted in 12 unintentional civilian deaths. CJTF-OIR assessed the remaining 48 reports as non-credible."
Four reports assessed as credible include information about strikes in Syria in January and August 2017, as well as January and March 2019, the coalition said.

A private investigation firm, hired by a woman in Arkansas seeking to resolve an ongoing child-custody dispute with the alleged father, Hunter Biden, has "lawfully" obtained documents that claim to confirm the former vice president's son's involvement in "a massive, $156 million 'counterfeiting scheme,'" Fox News reported Monday.

Speaking to Fox News Monday, D&A Investigations, the Florida-based firm hired by the woman in Arkansas "claimed the FBI and Justice Department have been investigating PrivatBank, the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, Biden and others since April 2019 — and that the investigation remained open," Fox News noted.

"The FBI told Fox News on Tuesday that, as a matter of policy, it does not confirm or deny the existence of ongoing investigations," it added.

The New York Times loves racism, and hates white people

The New York Times has spent 50 paragraphs explaining why it's wrong for a majority-white college to feature mostly white people in its homecoming video. Why? Because the mere sight of caucasians infuriates the Times.

The nonsensical furor kicked off in September, when the University of Wisconsin in Madison released a two-minute video depicting sunny scenes of campus life. Students cheered at a football game, cycled through UW's picturesque lakeside grounds, and sang a cappella for the camera.

Social-justice-minded students took issue with the fact that nearly everyone in the video was white.

Twitter-sphere battles rage over Netanyahu's decision to ask for immunity from indictments

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not surprise many when he gathered a press conference on Wednesday night and announced that he had requested the country's parliament, the Knesset, to grant him immunity.

The premier, who has been facing a series of graft probes, says the plea was his legal right and that it was needed for him to "continue to lead Israel" for the sake of its future.

Netanyahu believes the charges against him, which he denies, were part of a broader left-wing campaign to delegitimise him and remove him from the office that he has occupied for the past eleven years.

Out of touch: NY Mayor de Blasio slams $30 New Year's pizzas - gets educated online

Comment: Presumably, De Blasio thought he was virtue-signalling against price-gouging...

Mayor Bill de Blasio signs a bill adding third option on NYC birth certificates
Domino's pulled no punches in responding to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's criticism of the chain's prices in the Times Square area on New Year's Eve.

A delivery man for a Manhattan Domino's was spotted running $30 pies to revelers, and De Blasio claimed the chain was "exploiting" consumers and suggested they visit "local" joints.

"Every store in [New York City] is owned by a local resident," a Domino's spokesperson told FOX Business on Thursday. "Every employee is a local New York resident. Those stores provide jobs to thousands of his fellow citizens. With his comments, the mayor is suggesting that New Yorkers who own or work at a franchise are 'lesser than' those who don't."

De Blasio faced instant blowback for the tweet.

Comment: De Blasio doesn't seem to realize how prices work. Luckily Twitter was more than willing to educate him:

France's pension reform strike breaks record, fresh clashes in Paris, calls for renewed action following Macron's refusal to back down

The leader of France's hardline CGT union on Wednesday urged all workers to join pension strikes that have crippled public transport over the past month, as a showdown with President Emmanuel Macron enters a second month.

In his New Year's address Tuesday Macron vowed not to back down on his plan to replace France's 42 separate pension schemes with a single system that would require people to work longer.

The government says the changes are necessary to make the system fairer for all and more sustainable but unions argue that workers, particularly in the public sector, will lose out.

Comment: RT reports on the strike action in Paris:
Thursday's strike action saw protesters block two bus depots in Paris. Officers dispatched to the protest were filmed spraying what some described as tear gas directly into the faces of some of the demonstrators.

Tear gas was also reportedly used by police on the streets of the city center where protesters marched on Thursday, some bearing brightly-burning flares, and there were several arrests as riot police and demonstrators clashed.

Russia to launch stock exchange for sanctioned companies

Companies targeted by Western sanctions will have an opportunity to list their bonds, as Russia plans to create a special stock exchange in 2020 to bolster its national capital markets.

The launch was initially scheduled for December but was then postponed to January, according to Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev. The official explained that the ministry needed more time to finish the platform.

At least two companies have already announced that they would like to trade on the stock exchange, Moiseev said, though he did not elaborate further. It was previously reported that the platform will be based on the Saint Petersburg Currency Exchange and will be supported by Russian banks, possibly by Promsvyazbank and the Crimea-based Russian National Commercial Bank (RNCB).
