Belgian woman, 69, kept husband's body at home in their bed. 'Marcel H.' died of asthma attack last year, authorities say. Widow not named.

A grieving woman who couldn't bear to live without her husband slept next to his corpse for almost a year, Belgian authorities said Tuesday.

Marcel H, 79 is thought to have died of an Asthma attack in November last year but his beloved wife, 69, was so devastated by his death she failed to report it.

The wife, who has not been named, continued to sleep next to her dead husband in their bed until his grisly remains were discovered Tuesday.

Neighbours failed to spot the smell of the decomposing body and the authorities in Belgium only became suspicious after the landlord claimed the couple had not paid their rent since 2012.

When they entered the apartment in Brussels they found the mummified remains of Marcel H.

Police routinely "manipulate" crime figures in a bid to meet ­performance targets, a serving officer said yesterday.

Up to one in four rape and other sexual crimes go unrecorded, while burglaries disappear in a "puff of smoke", said Scotland Yard crime analyst PC James Patrick.

Other officers backed up his claims at the hearing, calling the practice ­"institutional corruption".

Sir Bernard Jenkin, chairman of the Commons Public Administration Committee, said he was "shocked" at the revelations.

He said: "What we have heard is basically how there is a system of incentives in the police that has become inherently corrupting and I think that is a very shocking thing to hear.

Richland Hills - A woman was arrested because she hadn't responded to an overdue traffic ticket after a mere 60 days. Not only was she taken to jail, she was forcibly strip searched.

Sarah Boaz is a woman from Texas who ran a stop sign in August. She was caught running that stop sign and issued a ticket by Richland Hills Police. She never imagined what would come next. Boaz expected to pay the ticket and move on with her life. Until the Richland Hills Police Department sent someone to her home for her unpaid traffic ticket according to CBS News:

"I guess it was just frustrating to me, that a bill that I pay a month late, I end up in jail for," she said.

Boaz' expected trip to work Wednesday morning never happened. Because of her unpaid ticket, the Richland Hills City Marshal was waiting at her house with a warrant for her arrest. "I'm like, nobody puts out a bench warrant after 60 days. Why would you do that? You wouldn't do that."

Even when Boaz arrived at the jail, in handcuffs, she still didn't think it was real. Then a female officer started giving her instructions. She remembered the officer saying, "'I'm going to need you to undress. I'm going to need you to stand against the wall. Please don't step in front of this white box, or I'll take that'... aggressive toward me. Obviously I am going to jail."

Apparently the town puts people in jail almost immediately for unpaid tickets, unlike what they would do in a city.

Williams' mother, Marissa Sargeant, released the photo and is demanding an investigation into the officers who arrested her teen. She said, "The picture speaks a thousand words."

Williams was arrested on Tuesday in Walmart - he and his 19-year-old cousin Jordan Gibson were caught shoplifting.

According to police, they cuffed the 14-year-old but he ran away before they could put him in a cruiser.

Police officers told NBC10 that they "yelled warnings at the teen and fearing for his safety, they fired a stun gun to subdue him. The D.A. says the Taser struck the boy in the face and with his hands cuffed, the boy had no way to brace himself against falling face-first."

Tennessee - A father attempts to pick his children up from school by foot which triggers an explosive reaction from the overseeing officer who is enforcing a new car pick-up policy. Jim Howe, the father, is arrested for disorderly conduct for no clear reason and has filed a lawsuit. "I'm not raising my voice, I'm not confrontational, I want my kids," Jim Howe said prior to the arrest. "You don't need a reason as a parent to go get your children. They are our children," says Howe.

John F. Kennedy and the Titans

Between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., Kennedy met with Dean Rusk and Phillips Talbott.

It was John F. Kennedy's 1,033rd day in office.

Rescue teams are working in the dark to find those beneath the rubble at the site in Tongaat, north of Durban.

Crisis Medical, an emergency service provider in Durban, told BBC Focus on Africa that about 30 people had been taken to hospitals in the area.

Officials said those trapped were construction workers.

"It was a mall building still under construction; most of those still trapped inside the building were construction workers," police spokeswoman Mandy Govender told the AFP news agency.

Six people died after a US-registered private business jet crashed on its way to Paris today.The horrifying accident saw the single-engine Socata TBM-700 come down in Mouffy, in the Yonne department in Burgundy, at around 11.30am.It had taken off from the tourist town of Annecy, in the French Alps, and was due to land at Toussus-le-Noble, in the Yvelines department, which borders Paris.

All those on board, who have not yet been identified, are thought to have died on impact with the ground.

Emergency services confirmed that the plane was registered in America, but the nationality of those on board was not known either.

The Socata TBM-700 is a high performance turboprop mainly used by business people and wealthy leisure flyers.

A new investigation is underway in West Cork to prove President John F Kennedy was related to Irish leader Michael Collins.

Both men are iconic figures and were assassinated at the height of their powers and questions have long lingered as to who shot them.

Locals in the town of Clonakilty are fascinated by the strong possibility that JFK and Collins shared a blood link.

The linking of two such iconic figures in Irish and American history could be a huge boost to the West Cork region.

President Kennedy spent time in Cork during his 1963 visit to Ireland.

The Irish Examiner reports that the link is to be investigated as three of John F Kennedy's great-grandparents came from West Cork.

The town will celebrate its strong links with JFK on Friday with a two part ceremony, involving the laying of a wreath and a lecture, on the 50th anniversary of his death.

Tim Crowley, founder of the Michael Collins Centre outside Clonakilty, told the Irish Examiner: "It's a little-known fact that three of his eight great-grandparents came from the West Cork area."

The report adds that two of JFK's great grandparents, Margaret Field and James F Hickey, came from the Clonakilty area.

It says that after emigrating to Boston during the Famine, they married and had a daughter, Mary Augusta Hickey, who went on to marry Patrick Joseph Kennedy. Their son was Joe Kennedy, JFK's father.

The paper also reports that Margaret Field's grandmother, JFK's great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Sheehy was born near Woodfield, Clonakilty, close to where Collins was born.

Crowley added: "The big question we are investigating is whether Michael Collins and JFK were related. JFK's ancestors, the Sheehys, were neighbors of Collins's ancestors.

"Rose Kennedy's family came from Bruff, Limerick. Her mother was a Hannon, but her grandmother was Mary Ann Fitzgerald from the Abbey area of Skibbereen."

Hollywood superstars Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kelly Preston were reportedly among the thousands of Scientologists gathered Sunday in Clearwater, Fla., to dedicate the Flag Building, a multi-million dollar addition to the church's headquarters there.

The 377,-000-square-foot building, which cost $145 million to build, is the only one of the church's facilities to have special rooms for practicing the "Super Power" program designed by Scientology's founder L. Ron Hubbard. The church has been waiting since the 1970s, when Hubbard developed the program, to have a proper venue to unveil it, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
