Awakening people power! Donetsk miners threaten to take arms if Kiev continues military operation

"The people of the DPR will fight. First of all the foreign enemy, and then oligarchs' turn will come," TASS cites an official of the self-proclaimed republic as saying.

Miners from the Donetsk Region in eastern Ukraine will take arms if the Kiev authorities do not stop their military operation in the region within two days, a deputy coal industry minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Konstantin Kuznetsov, said Wednesday.

"Miners have given (the Kiev authorities) two days to stop the so-called antiterrorism operation. Unless that happens, they are taking up arms and are going to defend their land, wives and children," Kuznetsov said.

Commenting on the situation in the Donetsk Region, DPR Prime Minister Alexander Borodai told ITAR-TASS that "it is now absolutely clear to each DPR resident that the Nazi junta is carrying out genocide of the population under the guise of an antiterrorism operation."

Borodai said this is a patriotic war for the region's residents. "The people of the DPR will fight. First of all the foreign enemy, and then oligarchs' turn will come," he said.

Elderly, disabled Philadelphia inmate sets record for being held without trial

A man who was held in Philadelphia's prison system without trial for seven years - the longest-ever such term in the city's jails, it is believed - was moved to a nursing home on Monday, two years after he was deemed not competent to stand trial.

Marvae Dunn, 68, was arrested in April 2007 for shooting his sister-in-law in North Philadelphia, according to Reuters. Weeks after his arrest, he suffered a series of strokes that left him unable to walk or speak.

In May 2012, Dunn was declared unfit to stand trial, court records say.

"As far as I know, nobody has stayed this long in city jails," said Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Lerner, who ordered Dunn's transfer.

Lerner said at the time of the order that he would hold "those responsible" in contempt for Dunn's lengthy stay in jail if Dunn was not moved to a psychiatric facility. Yet Dunn stayed in the city jail system for two more years.

One reason Dunn may have slipped through the cracks, Lerner said, was the city's reduction of the number of available beds for prisoners at psychiatric facilities. In addition, Lerner's need for a wheelchair and dialysis likely made finding an adequate nursing home more difficult.

Dunn likely suffered from mental illness before his arrest, Lerner said.

"I'm not sure how anyone decided he was competent for a preliminary hearing," he added.

ISIS annual reports unveiled, including full "investment highlights"

In a day and age in which corporations rule the world, the brutal Al-Qaeda spin off known as ISIS is learning from the best, and as part of its credentialising and image-building has done something only major corporations do at the end of every year: it has issued annual reports for the past 2 years (unaudited, unless Ernst & Young has quietly upgraded from "massaging" the books for Lehman's Repo 105 and, of course, the New York Fed, without our knowledge).

That's right: as the FT reported earlier, "Since 2012 the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, (known as Isis) has issued annual reports, outlining in numerical and geographical detail its operations - the number of bombings, assassinations, checkpoints, suicide missions, cities taken over and even "apostates" converted to the Isis cause."

But while publicly traded corporations focus more on revenues, margins, and profits, ISIS has other key considerations:
In 2013 alone, the group's report claimed nearly 10,000 operations in Iraq: 1,000 assassinations, 4,000 improvised explosive devices planted and hundreds of radical prisoners freed. In the same year it claimed hundreds of "apostates" had been turned.
Wait... are you serious?

Why yes: below are the "investment highlights" pages from ISIS' 2012 and 2013 annual reports:

Comment: 'Theater of the absurd', indeed:
Mainstream media outlets have been regaling Western audiences with headlines like 'A powerful and merciless force has emerged on the world stage', and 'Black flag of jihad will fly over London', and encouraging us to view 'terrifying execution images' to the point that we start to get the impression that someone, somewhere, really wants to scare us, albeit in a crassly theatrical way.

What we are witnessing in Iraq and Syria today is indeed largely theater, designed and performed by psychopaths for the purpose of terrifying the masses of humanity into accepting the rule of the same psychopaths. While the action plays out in real life in cities and towns, and with real people suffering and dying, the underlying philosophy is similar to that portrayed by the 1950s 'Theater of the Absurd' where stage actors reflected the ponerized world in which they lived by expressing the belief that human existence has no meaning or purpose, with logical argument replaced by irrational and illogical speech and man appearing as a puppet, controlled or menaced by invisible outside forces. Normal human beings today truly are menaced by outside forces, but those forces are not invisible, they just hide behind massive lies and obfuscation and present themselves as 'our leaders to whom we must look to for protection', when the truth that we all must recognize is that they are a fundamentally different species from normal humanity with a fundamentally inhuman and malignant essence.

An explosion has struck a pipeline in the central Ukrainian Poltava region. Witnesses say flames from the blast are up to 200 meter high.

"The explosion occurred at about 14:45 local time in a field," the local police press-service said in a statement. Due to the "flame and the high temperatures," it was "impossible to get closer to the epicenter."

The "Brotherhood" natural gas pipeline (Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod) is about one kilometer away from the nearest settlement. No injuries have been reported from the blast. Fire fighting crews have been deployed to the scene.

The blaze, which according to the Interior Ministry towered 100 meters high, was put out by "between 4 and 5 pm."

Globalized slavery: Thai slave labor provides supermarket prawns

Image
Slaves forced to work for no pay for years at a time under threat of extreme violence are being used in Asia in the production of seafood sold by major US, British and other European retailers, the Guardian can reveal.

A six-month investigation has established that large numbers of men bought and sold like animals and held against their will on fishing boats off Thailand are integral to the production of prawns (commonly called shrimp in the US) sold in leading supermarkets around the world, including the top four global retailers: Walmart, Carrefour, Costco and Tesco.

The investigation found that the world's largest prawn farmer, the Thailand-based Charoen Pokphand (CP) Foods, buys fishmeal, which it feeds to its farmed prawns, from some suppliers that own, operate or buy from fishing boats manned with slaves.

Justice for Justina: Judge orders girl to be returned to family after more than a year in a psychiatric ward

Justina and Mother
© Police State USA“Think of it like a prisoner of war who has been held captive for 16 months, there will be an adjustment period.” - Lou Pelletier, whose daughter Justina was forcibly incarcerated in a psychiatric ward against her parent's wishes and based solely on a psychiatrist's opinion.
Justina Pelletier is coming home.

A Massachusetts judge ordered the 16-year-old Connecticut girl, who was taken from her family by child welfare advocates more than a year ago, to be returned to her mother and father effective Wednesday. The ruling caps a long-running medical custody dispute that began when two highly-respected Boston hospitals clashed over the girl's diagnosis. The case sparked national outrage, and led Lou and Linda Pelletier, of West Hartford, Conn., to wage a bitter legal battle.

"To hear the news is overwhelming," Lou Pelletier told FoxNews.com moments after learning of the ruling. "Now we can certainly begin the healing process."

The case began when the girl's parents disagreed with a psychiatric diagnosis given by Boston Children's Hospital and said they wanted their daughter returned to her original physician at Tufts Medical Center, who had previously treated Justina for mitochondrial disease, a group of rare genetic disorders affecting cellular energy production. The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families moved in, claiming Justina was the victim of "medical child abuse."

Comment: As a clear example of medical child abuse, Justina's case is representative of the new era of medical blackmail where some are finding the hard way how few rights they have and how fascist their medical "care" system really is. See also:

Sexualizing children: UK parents furious at primary school pole dancing display by children as young as four

Crockenhill Primary School near Swanley
Row: A parent stormed off and said others were 'upset' after a pole dancing display at Crockenhill Primary School near Swanley, in north Kent on Sunday
Parents have criticised a primary school after children as young as four took part in an 'unsavoury' pole dancing display at a summer fete.

One father who stormed off said 'lots of people were upset' after seeing the performance at Crockenhill Primary School near Swanley, in north Kent.

But the owner of Revolutions Pole Academy, who led the display, and the primary school's headteacher have denied the show was 'sleazy' and said any anger is an 'over-reaction'.

An unnamed father-of-two with children at the school said the display on Sunday was 'so wrong'.

He said: 'A lot of people were upset about it. They were performing a routine to music in inappropriate clothing and they had children doing it and I just thought, "this is so wrong".

'One of the ladies that was performing it was wearing a crop top with one of the shoulder sleeves missing - it was quite revealing.

'The shorts they had on showed more than they should and a lot of people were leaving as a result of it.'

Comment: The fact that school officials cannot see that pole dancing is totally inappropriate for children of any age is unfathomable! Children worldwide are now being taught to be prey for pedophiles, while parents who are outraged, as they should be, are told they are overreacting.

US price of electricity reached record levels for May

Image
The electricity price index and the average price for a kilowatthour (KWH) of electricity both hit records for May, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The average price for a KWH hit 13.6 cents during the month, up about 3.8 percent from 13.1 cents in May 2013.

The seasonally adjusted electricity price index rose from 201.431 in May 2013 to 208.655 in May 2014 - an increase of about 3.6 percent.

If the prevailing trend holds, the price of electricity will hit an all-time record high this summer, when demand for electricity is at its peak.

Comment: This happens at a most unfortunate time when food prices are escalating rapidly and most people are already strapped due to the long-term decline in the economy. To add insult to injury, households are paying for 'carbon pollution cost' for climate change that is not human caused, and can in no way be ameliorated by such schemes which were cooked up for the sole benefit of the global elites.

Dig deeper: Price index for meats, poultry, fish & eggs rockets to all-time high

The seasonally-adjusted price index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs hit an all-time high in May, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

In January 1967, when the BLS started tracking this measure, the index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs was 38.1. As of last May, it was 234.572. By this January, it hit 240.006. By April, it hit 249.362. And, in May, it climbed to a record 252.832.
food price index
"The index for meats, poultry, fish and eggs has risen 7.7 percent over the span [last year]," says the BLS. "The index for food at home increased 0.7 percent, its largest increase since July 2011. Five of the six major grocery store food group indexes increased in May. The index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs rose 1.4 percent in May after a 1.5 increase in April, with virtually all its major components increasing," BLS states.

In addition to this food index, the price for fresh whole chickens hit its all-time high in the United States in May.

In January 1980, when the BLS started tracking the price of this commodity, fresh whole chickens cost $0.70 per pound. By this May 2014, fresh whole chickens cost $1.56 per pound.

A decade ago, in May 2004, a pound of fresh chicken cost $1.04. Since then, the price has gone up 50%.

Each month, the BLS employs data collectors to visit thousands of retail stores all over the United States to obtain information on the prices of thousands of items to measure changes for the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

The CPI is simply the average change over time in prices paid by consumers for a market basket of goods and services.

The BLS found that there was a 0.7% change in the prices for the food at home index in May, which tracks foods like meats, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy, as well as many others.
