Roger Waters: The U.S. position in Gaza reveals a stunning moral perversity in government and media

The carnage in Gaza continues after the latest collapse of cease-fire talks and over four weeks of asymmetrical bombardment by Israel. With the death of more than 2,000 Palestinians, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands more, the complicity of the American government has been exposed to the world as never before. Yet the mantra repeated ad nauseam by the U.S. government and media alike remains the same: Israel has a right to defend itself.

The moral perversity of the U.S. position is stunning. How can the U.S. government ask Israel to be more careful about civilian lives while simultaneously arming and then rearming the IDF so it can more effectively inflict such devastation on an imprisoned and occupied people?

The U.S. could act to stop the senseless slaughter but it won't. Instead, it's cheerleading. Members of Congress are mindlessly parroting Israeli talking points without a thought given to the Palestinian perspective or to preserving human life. Brimming with righteousness, they argue for turning Israel loose - Sen. Rand Paul in particular - and invoke Israel's right to self-defense, despite the fact that, as the occupying power, Israel has an obligation to protect the Palestinians it rules, not massacre them.

Do congressional leaders ever stop to wonder what they would do if they were born Palestinian, had their homes and private property stolen from them, and were forced to live without freedom under an illegal Israeli occupation for 47 years? Do they know what it means to be on the receiving end of Israel's barbaric "mow the lawn" euphemism? Scarcely a word is said about the rights of Palestinians who are being pummeled from the sky and shot dead in their neighborhoods by the region's most powerful military. What, I wonder, would Americans do if it were their neighborhoods being invaded and if they were the ones living under siege? I think it's safe to say Americans wouldn't stand for it.

Mexican judge stands up to Big Agra, bans Monsanto from planting GMO soybeans

Image
A Mexican judge in a federal district court in Yucatan state has recently overturned a permit issued to Monsanto, the America-based multinational mega-ag giant corporation that has long been the leading developer and supplier of genetically modified (GM) crops.

Devon G. Pena, writing for Environmental and Food Justice, said that the permit, which was issued by the Mexican Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food on June 6, 2012, "allowed the commercial planting of GM soy bean in Yucatan."

The recent court reversal was based on consideration of scientific evidence that demonstrated (to the satisfaction of the judge) that GM soy crop plantings are a threat to Mexican honey production in the states of Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo.

Comment: Mexico is following the lead of many other countries around the world who see that GMO crops are a huge health risk to humans, plants, and animals:

Tipping point near? Pathocrats engineering population control via income inequality, inflation and food shortages

food riots
The cost of food has been steadily increasing in places like Thailand and Venezuela as evidenced by the fact that since the beginning of 2014, riots are occurring in countries that are suffering through extreme food shortages. These mass protests movements may all have one thing in common, increasing food prices are the cause of the civil unrest.

According to Dr. Yaneer Bar-Yam and his research colleagues at the New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI), they are collectively stating that civil unrest, spurred by food shortages may be anticipated for their effect by a mathematical model that correlates the variables of rising food costs, diminished and that are related to income and civil unrest. The present data suggests that America is ripe for the same kinds of civil disruption that we are witnessing in Thailand and Venezuela. How bad could the civil unrest become? Nobody can be certain except to say that America is entering into uncharted waters.

If one uses the violent civil unrest in Ferguson, MO. as a barometer of severity of the act of rioting, we need to realize that people are protesting the shooting death of one young man by a local police officer. Imagine how much more vitriolic these protests would become, how much more looting would take place and how many more people would be killed and injured if people and their children were facing starvation and these riots were food riots. The people of the United States are almost at the point of no return with regard to the coming food riots.

Comment: The entire planet is on a collision course with disaster thanks to the machinations of the global psychopathic elites. There are far more sinister reasons to begin preparing for a future which will be completely different than anyone expects!

ADL ad justifying Israeli murder of Palestinian children translated into plain words by actor Wallace Shawn

Image
ADL ad that appeared in The Hollywood Reporter
Playwright and actor Wallace Shawn has responded to this Anti-Defamation League(ADL) ad blaming Palestinians for Israel's mass slaughter of children in Gaza.

Shawn's brilliant "translation" of the ad into plain English is below.

Five hundred and sixteen children are among the 2,142 Palestinians killed by Israel's current bombardment of the Gaza Strip, according to the latest tally from Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.

The ad, which appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, was signed by a number of show business executives. It quotes an infamous statement by Golda Meir, the American colonial settler in Palestine who became Israel's prime minister, justifying Israel's slaughter of Arab children during her time.

Along with ADL National Director Abraham Foxman and National Chair Barry Curtiss-Lusher, The Hollywood Reporter identifies some of those who signed the ADL ad as MGM chairman Gary Barber, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, Nu Image/Millennium Films co-chairman Avi Lerner, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Amy Pascal and Saban Capital Group chairman and CEO Haim Saban.

Rochdale council protects pedophiles, rejects claim of child sex abuse as 'out of time'

Image
Children in a play at the Bryn Alyn home run by John Allen (centre), who was jailed in 1995 for indecent assault on six boys.
Council chiefs in Rochdale are refusing compensation to a victim of child sex abuse because they say that his claim is out of time.

Their stance that the claim is "statute barred" could hit many who were sexually abused decades ago as children in the care of Rochdale borough council, where the pedophile MP Sir Cyril Smith was a dominant figure for many years.

The victim, whose identity Exaro is protecting and who asked to be referred to as "Peter", said that from the age of 12 he suffered a horrendous catalogue of sexual abuse by a staff member at a children's home.

Peter, 38, said: "I am appalled that the council is trying to hide behind this legislation."

The council is relying on the Limitation Act 1980, under which a legal action for personal injury suffered in childhood must be brought within three years of a victim's 18th birthday.

However, a court has the discretion to extend the time when deemed to be in the interests of justice.

Waking up to the dangers of GMO: China halts growth of GM rice and corn

Image

China's Ministry of Agriculture has decided not to renew biosafety certificates that allowed research groups to grow genetically modified (GM) rice and corn. The permits, to grow two varieties of GM rice and one transgenic corn strain, expired on 17 August. The reasoning behind the move is not clear, and it has raised questions about the future of related research in China.

The ministry, with much fanfare, had approved the GM rice certificates in August 2009. The permits enabled a group at Huazhong Agricultural University in Wuhan to produce two varieties of rice carrying a gene from the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bacteria that provides pest resistance. At the same time, the ministry approved production of a corn strain developed by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences' Biotechnology Research Institute in Beijing. Researchers had altered the corn so that kernels contain phytase, a livestock feed additive that boosts absorption of phosphorus, which enhances growth. All of the certificates were valid for 5 years.

Since the certificates were issued, however, public skepticism about the benefits of GM crops has grown in China. Some scientists conducting GM plant research have been attacked when giving public lectures.

Comment: Kudos to both China and Russia for taking positive steps to eliminate GMO crops which pose serious risks. GM crops and their associated herbicides can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They reduce bio-diversity, pollute water resources, and are unsustainable. GMOs do not increase yields, and work against feeding a hungry world. Whereas sustainable non-GMO agricultural methods used in developing countries have conclusively resulted in yield increases of 79% and higher, GMOs do not, on average, increase yields at all.

Russian lawmakers seek strong legislation to crack down on GMO-related business

Image
© UnknownInteresting to note the many ways in which Russia has to work to throw off the yoke of Western/US political, economic and social 'values' and influence these days.
Russian lawmakers want to equate GMO-related activities that may harm human health or even cause death to terrorist acts and impose criminal liability on producers, sellers and transporters of genetically modified organisms, the newspaper Izvestia writes in its Thursday issue.

A bill to this effect was submitted to the Russian State Duma lower parliament house by the Duma agrarian committee and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) faction, who claimed that the government's bill referred to parliament was too mild.

The bill's initiators say liability for GMO-inflicted harm should be expanded to state and local self-government officials. Under the bill, criminal responsibility should be applicable to companies and government officials only, while individuals should be subject to disciplinary liability.

Comment: Western interests and influence are insidious. It's not enough that they attempt to undercut other nations' economies with their policies, and instigate war, they also strive to feed the world with food that isn't safe enough for consumption.

Coroner says man fatally shot himself in the chest while handcuffed behind his back

The release of an autopsy report in Louisiana is raising new questions about the unusual shooting death of a 22-year-old black male who died earlier this year in a police car while his hands were cuffed behind his back.

RT reported earlier this year that police in Iberia Parish, LA said Victor White III died in early March after he fatally shot himself while handcuffed in the back of a squad car. White had reportedly been apprehended for possession of drugs, and was searched no fewer than two times before being cuffed and placed in the backseat of a police vehicle. According to the police report from the time, White uncovered a gun while in the car and shot himself in the back.

According to a coroner's report just recently obtained by NBC News, however, White died from a gunshot wound that entered his body in the chest. Nevertheless, Dr. Carl Ditch wrote in the report that White was capable of firing the shot while cuffed "due to his body habitus" and has agreed to rule the death a suicide.

Hannah Rappleye, a reporter for NBC, compared the coroner's story with the official police report from March in an article published by the outlet this week.

"White was shot in the front, not the back. The bullet entered his right chest and exited under his left armpit. White was left-handed, according to family members. According to the report, the forensic pathologist found gunshot residue in the wound, but not the sort ofstipplingthat a close-range shot can sometimes produce. He also found abrasions on White's face," she wrote. "And yet, despite the contradictions - and even though White's hands were never tested for gunpowder residue - the Iberia Parish coroner still supported the central contention of the initial police statement issued back in March."

"Although the decedent was handcuffed at the time with his hands to his back, due to his body habitus, the pathologist and investigators agree that he would have been able to manipulate the weapon to the point where the contact entrance wound was found," Ditch wrote.

Comment: You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means:

Body habitus
Body habitus (or "bodily habitus") is the medical term for physique, and is defined as either endomorphic (overweight), ectomorphic (underweight) or mesomorphic (normal weight). In this sense, habitus can be understood as the physical and constitutional characteristics of an individual, especially as related to the tendency to develop a certain disease.[6] For example, "Marfanoid bodily habitus". - From Wikipedia
How do you know when doctor's are lying? They start using non-sensical jargon. Everyone nods sagely and just accepts the bullshit. Which this is bullshit.

The deceased's father, Rev. Victor White II, told NBC that he had his doubts about the coroner's report.

"You can't make me understand," he said. "You can't make me understand how my son took his left hand, when he was handcuffed behind the back, and shot himself. I don't believe a thing they're saying at this point."

Border crisis: What's really behind the "invasion" of Latin American children

immigration
© Sara A. Carter/TheBlazeMiriam and her son Daniel, 1, took seven days by bus and car to reach the U.S.-Mexico border from Honduras. She said they paid a trafficker more than $1000 to make the crossing; Miriam turned herself into Border Patrol officials along the Rio Grande Valley sector. They were being processed on one of the public access roads that has since been closed off by federal law enforcement to journalists attempting to report in the region
Call it irony or call it a nightmare, but the "crisis" of Central American children crossing the U.S.-Mexican border, which lasted for months amid fervent and angry debate, is now fading from the news. The media stories have been legion, the words expended many. And yet, as the "crisis" leaves town, as the sound and fury die down and attention shifts elsewhere (even though the children continue to arrive), the real factors that would have made sense of what's been happening remain essentially untouched and largely unmentioned. It couldn't be stranger -- or sadder.

Since late June 2014, the "surge" of those thousands of desperate children entering this country has been in the news. Sensational stories were followed by fervent demonstrations and counter-demonstrations with emotions running high. And it's not a debate that stayed near the southern border either. In my home state, Massachusetts, Governor Deval Patrick tearfully offered to detain some of the children -- and that was somehow turned into a humanitarian gesture that liberals applauded and anti-immigrant activists decried. Meanwhile the mayor of Lynn, a city north of Boston, echoed nativists on the border, announcing that her town didn't want any more immigrants. The months of this sort of emotion, partisanship, and one-upmanship have, however, diverted attention from the real issues. As so often is the case, there is so much more to the story than what we've been hearing in the news.

Comment: While the mainstream media has been stoking up fear about the immigration crisis, what is rarely mentioned is how the US/ CIA involvement in wars in Latin American and the funding of drug cartels have contributed to the need for families to literally escape for their lives.

Missing the point: Why is Obama encouraging illegal immigration when we can't care for millions of our own citizens?

Pathetic: Wall Street Journal editor says Eric Holder should tell Ferguson protesters to 'pull up their pants'

Image

Wall Street Journal
editorial board member Jason Riley criticized the impending arrival of Attorney General Eric Holder in Ferguson, Missouri on Tuesday, saying Holder was there as part of President Barack Obama's efforts to play "race-healer-in-chief."

"These looters and rioters do not need to hear from the attorney general that criticism of Obama is race-based," Riley told host Bret Bauer. "What they need to hear from this Black man in this position - the nation's leading law enforcement official - is that they need to stay out of trouble with the law. They need to pull up their pants and finish school and take care of their kids. That is the message they need to hear."

Comment: Oh, cause this isn't about out of control paramilitary police playing judge, jury, and executioner.

Riley did not mention, however, that according to the International Business Times, Black residents in Ferguson were arrested four times as often as white residents.
