EV's make some people carsick...

Electric Vehicles
© Cnet.com
Nobody mentioned the nausea

The planet-saving cars that are being forced upon us have another catch — they might make you vomit. Apparently, motion sickness is "a thing" for EV's, not that our public broadcaster would mention it in the regular adverts they run to tell us how wonderful EV's are. Apparently the silent sudden acceleration is leaving some stomachs in a lurch — and some adults, kids and even dogs are throwing up.
'I need a solution fast': Electric car owners complain of motion sickness

Zane Dobie, Drive

Another user said: "I drive in an electric vehicle a lot, and I've found that regenerative braking absolutely makes me motion sick. I'm not always driving, so I don't always have control of how it's being driven, so other people's driving really makes me sick... I really need to find a solution fast".

Some drivers also reported their electric cars making their pets sick too. "Since [buying] the Tesla, [my dog] throws up in it almost every time..."
The theory is that EV's are too quiet, too fast, and have too few cues to warn our insides to prepare for motion. But who knows, perhaps sitting inside a giant electromagnetic field triggers the queasy feeling?

US DMV facilities suffer nationwide network outage

dmv us outage offline
© Sarah Grillo/Axios
Department of Motor Vehicle facilities are experiencing a network outage.

The big picture: All DMVs across the country are down on Thursday, per Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias.
  • Its cause is unclear, and there's no timeline for when services will be restored.

Comment: The number of government and businesses suffering network failures, and cyberattacks, appears to be rising. But it's perhaps no coincidence that this uptick occurs alongside repeated warnings (threats?) from sinister organisations, such as the WEF, of a looming 'cyber pandemic': McDonald's suffers GLOBAL IT 'system failure', stores from Canada to Australia forced to close

Germany slides into recession, joining UK, Japan, Ireland, and Finland

A recent survey by Bloomberg has revealed that Germany has entered a recession, with projections indicating minimal economic growth for the year ahead.

The survey was conducted from March 8 to 14, forecasts a contraction of 0.1% in the country's gross domestic product (GDP) for the first quarter, a stark contrast to previous expectations of stagnation during this period.

The Bundesbank has echoed concerns, suggesting that Germany may be experiencing a six-month slump, albeit downplaying the likelihood of a severe downturn. Meanwhile, the Economy Ministry has emphasized the prevailing economic challenges, noting weak domestic demand, elevated financing costs and subdued sentiment among households and businesses as contributing factors.

Comment: In February, IndiaToday reported:
Along with the UK and Japan, Ireland and Finland also went into technical recessions in the fourth quarter. Ireland registered a quarter-on-quarter GDP contraction of 0.7 per cent and 1.9 per cent in Q3 and Q4 respectively.
Meanwhile in Russia, and China:

Poland's farmers intensify protests against 'executioner' EU, demand end to 'Green Deal' restrictions

Polish farmers blocked roads with tractors and flares on Wednesday in escalating protests against EU environmental regulations and cheap food imports from neighbouring Ukraine which the bloc provisionally agreed to prolong.

Placards depicted a farmer swinging from a gallows next to wind farms and an EU-emblazoned executioner with the words: "Green Deal equals death of Polish agriculture", referring to the bloc's plan to tackle climate change.

Farmers in Poland and elsewhere in the bloc have been protesting in recent months to demand the re-imposition of customs duties on agricultural imports from Ukraine that were waived after Russia's invasion in 2022.

They say Ukraine's farmers are flooding Europe with cheap imports that leave them unable to compete.

Comment: Tasnim reports:
Polish Farmers Block Two Border Crossings with Germany

On Monday, farmers blocked the Swiecko and Gubinek border crossings with Germany. A local police spokesperson said that the blockades started on Sunday and were scheduled to continue until Wednesday.

"Traffic in Swiecko and Gubinek is blocked, you cannot travel in either direction," said Marcin Maludy, a spokesperson for the police in nearby Gorzow Wielkopolski.

Maludy said that the only possibility for trucks in the Lubusz region travelling to Germany was to go to Olszyn whereas cars could go through the remaining crossings in the region.

Former inmate tells Riley Gaines male 'opportunists' are using trans policies to get into female prisons

Amie Ichikiwa

Amie Ichikawa spoke about male condom dispensers being installed in female prisons.

Former collegiate swimmer and current OutKick contributor Riley Gaines spoke to women's rights advocate and former inmate Amie Ichikawa regarding predators taking advantage of transgender policies on Tuesday.

On her "Gaines for Girls" podcast, Gaines spoke to Ichikawa regarding the controversial standards of housing biological males in all-women's prisons based on them identifying as females. While the presumption is fairness for transgender prisoners, Ichikawa listed multiple reasons why any man would take advantage of the policy.

Comment: All these years of struggle for women's rights are being flushed down the toilet in less than a decade. Any government institution that is prioritizing trans rights over women's safety is misogynist to the core.

The committee recently revealed quotas for Russian athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Restrictions against Russian athletes announced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) earlier this week are discriminatory, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

On Tuesday, the IOC announced that the maximum number of Russians who can qualify for the Paris Olympic Games this summer is 55, while Belarus is limited to 28 athletes. Participants from both nations can only appear in individual events, under neutral status, and may not take part in the opening ceremony.

Best of the Web: Al Jazeera Investigations: October 7

al jazeera october 7
Hamas's incursion into Israel on October 7 transformed the politics of the Middle East. Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit (I-Unit) has carried out a forensic analysis of the events of that day - examining seven hours of footage from CCTV, dashcams, personal phones and headcams of dead Hamas fighters, and drawing up a comprehensive list of those killed.

In October 7, the I-Unit reveals widespread human rights abuses by Hamas fighters and others who followed them through the fence from Gaza into Israel.

But the investigation also found that many of the worst stories that came out in the days following the attack were false. This was especially true of atrocities that were used repeatedly by politicians in Israel and the West to justify the ferocity of the bombardment of the Gaza Strip, such as the mass killing of babies and allegations of widespread and systematic rape.

Saudi oil giant CEO says world should abandon the fantasy of living without oil

The clean energy revolution is failing, and everyone knows it.

In a radical move, the CEO of an oil giant actually defended oil. For a brief moment the space-time continuum opened a worm hole to reality, and leaders of some of the world's largest corporations briefly said sensible things.

The energy transition is falling apart so fast, even the prime targets of hate, the Big Oil Men themselves, are now openly pointing out what a waste of time and money solar and wind power are. BP was trying to cut oil production 40% until very recently when it flipped to increasing it. But now we have a whole conference of Big Oil.
Saudi Aramco CEO says energy transition is failing, world should abandon 'fantasy' of phasing out oil

By Spencer Kimball, CNBC

HOUSTON — Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser said Monday that the energy transition is failing and policymakers should abandon the "fantasy" of phasing out oil and gas, as demand for fossil fuels is expected to continue to grow in the coming years.

"In the real world, the current transition strategy is visibly failing on most fronts as it collides with five hard realities," Nasser said during a panel interview at the CERAWeek by S&P Global energy conference in Houston, Texas.
We spent trillions of dollars and we have nothing to show for it:
Nasser said alternative energy sources have been unable to displace hydrocarbons at scale, despite the world investing more than $9.5 trillion over the past two decades. Wind and solar currently supply less than 4% of the world's energy...

Meanwhile, the share of hydrocarbons in the global energy mix has barely fallen in the 21st century from 83% to 80%, Nasser said.
This is the graph he was surely thinking of — the one that shows how irrelevant, inconsequential and trivial the whole "renewable energy transition" has been so far. See that black line...?

How it's done: Texas pulls $8.5B investment from BlackRock over ESG policies

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
Texas 'will not stand idle as our financial future is attacked by Wall Street,' said State Board of Education Chairman Aaron Kinsey

The terminating a massive $8.5 billion investment with trillion-dollar asset manager BlackRock over the state's determination that the firm is engaged in a boycott of energy companies.

In an announcement first shared with FOX Business, Texas State Board of Education Chairman Aaron Kinsey said the so-called Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) had delivered a notice to BlackRock on Tuesday, informing the New York City-based firm of the action. According to Kinsey, the move was made in accordance with a 2021 state law that seeks to distance the state and its large public purse from financial institutions boycotting the oil and gas sector.

"The Texas Permanent School Fund has a fiduciary duty to protect Texas schools by safeguarding and growing the approximately $1 billion in annual oil and gas royalties managed by the Texas General Land Office," Kinsey said in a statement Tuesday. "Terminating BlackRock's contract ensures PSF's full compliance with Texas law."
