Munitions warehouse explosion completely destroys town of Svatovo, Ukraine while Govt. does nothing

The town of Svatovo is completely destroyed after a large-scale fire at Ukrainian ammunition depots just in time for the cold, people are fleeing their homes, which Ukrainian authorities are not in a hurry to restore, reports LPR press-service.

"Svatovo fire showed the incompetence of authorities, and fear of responsibility for what happened at all levels of management spiral. It has been more than three days since the fire, and the authorities to this time did not give a decent explanation of the causes of the tragedy. Referring to alleged mythical arson committed by "saboteurs", and maybe it was mice with matches? The nonsense of defence minister Poltorak and his entourage, brainwashing the simple layman, without explaining why a deadly warehouse with more than 3.5 tons of ammunition was located inside the city line without proper security and basic fire extinguishing means. Four people were killed, more than 100 are in hospitals.

Comment: The Ukrainian government has miserably failed the people here, but considering the role that neo nazis are playing in the government, it's not too surprising, though it is quite tragic for the people who lost their lives, were hospitalized, and who lost their homes.

Flying while black? Six passengers accuse Spirit airlines of racial discrimination after being kicked off flight

Six passengers, who were removed from a Spirit Airlines, Inc. flight by crew members at Los Angeles International Airport, claim they were discriminated against for being black. The incident occurred late Monday and the passengers accused a white flight attendant of discrimination.

The episode happened over a seat, which the passengers said was double-booked, CBS Los Angeles reported. Following this, police took the three couples out of the plane. According to witnesses, the flight attendant alleged a member in the group of being a threat and the six passengers were banned from flight 868 bound to Dallas, Texas, the local news network reported.

"I'm really humiliated just for the simple fact that you hear about this type of stuff happening in America, discrimination issues and stuff like that, but to actually experience it first-hand," Alexandria Wright, one of the banned passengers reportedly said. "It was more than just us having the conversation. Why is that six black people got kicked off the plane?" Wright asked.

The flight took off from the airport without the passengers, who reportedly said they were not rebooked. However, after reaching Dallas, other witnesses on the flight said the passengers were removed because they were being disruptive.

The low-budget airline operates more than 300 daily flights to 56 destinations in the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America.

First we heard about the epidemic of sexual crimes being committed by US soldiers against women in our armed forces several years ago with over 26,000 cases reported in 2011 alone. Even such pristine, honorable institutions as our US service academies traditionally producing America's top leaders are blatantly guilty. The Air Force Academy where supposedly this nation's "cream of the crop" are educated apparently harbors more rapists than any other college in America. And that fact speaks volumes since last year's headlines across the country uncovered the appalling statistics of a rape epidemic occurring on the campuses of America's finest colleges and universities. Up to one in three women can expect to be raped at some point in her life. And now a just released AP finding reports that a thousand police officers lost their badges as "protectors" of our community for various incidents involving sexual misconduct.

If we can't trust men at our leadership bastions like the prestigious US service academies or our military men in uniform sworn to defend and protect our nation, or our best and brightest attending America's finest institutions of higher learning, and now also those wearing blue uniform whose designated purpose is to "protect and serve" our communities whose salaries are paid for by our hard-earned tax dollars, then who can we trust? Definitely not either our government officials in the halls of Washington nor our men of cloth like Catholic priests as both our highest political and spiritual authority figures have even longer histories of sex crimes, both notoriously off the charts for their high profile sex scandals in recent decades.

Cop fabricates crime, shoots himself, and says it was suspect who doesn't exist

The cop was arrested on Tuesday after it was revealed he shot himself late last month before fabricating a story that a suspect had fired the bullet. Former England, Arkansas Police Officer David Houser, 50, acknowledged on Monday that he made the whole thing up when he claimed he'd taken a bullet in the line of duty, and confessed that the bullet was actually fired by him, from his own weapon.
"It's every chief's worst nightmare to get a call that your officer has been shot or involved in a shooting," England Police Department Chief Nathan Cook told Arkansas Online. "To investigate and find out it's self-inflicted just puts a whole different spin on it."
On October 24, Houser claimed he was shot by a Hispanic male during a traffic stop, though the round did not penetrate his bulletproof vest. He wrote in his report that he "exchanged gunfire with a suspect who fled from him driving a sport utility vehicle." The person he described was never found, as they do not exist.

Investigation reveals broken system that allows cops accused of sexual abuse to jump from job to job

A "tattered network" of laws has allowed law enforcement officers accused of sexual abuse to hop from job to job, according to an AP investigation. Some of the officers were accused of additional misdeeds - including rape - after moving to new positions.

AP found about 1,000 law enforcement officers who had lost their badges due to sex crimes in six years. Those crimes included rape, as well as sexual misconduct ranging from propositioning citizens to having intercourse while on duty. Data on police officers, jail guards, deputies, and other state law enforcement officials was analyzed during the investigation.

However, the number of police offenders found does not represent all cases, because it only includes those whose licenses to work in law enforcement had been revoked - a punishment which not all states mete out. In states which do revoke badges, the process can often take years.

Agencies responsible for enforcing police standards can revoke the badges of problem officers in 44 states. However, some states - including California and New York, which have several of the country's largest law enforcement agencies - have no statewide system to decertify officers for misconduct. AP also found that some states which do have such systems failed to identify officers removed for sexual misconduct, even in cases that had been made public in the media or court records.

Comment: The average person would never be able to resign after being found guilty of sexual abuse or other violent crimes. Why is it that cops, who are meant to uphold the law, are allowed to get away with breaking the law so easily? Why are criminals treated differently because they have a badge? Something is very wrong with the system in the US.

Okinawa: Tokyo's move to resume work on US base is 'illegal invasion'

Okinawa authorities have filed a complaint against the Japanese government's decision of October 28 to recommence work on a landfill project that is preparing a site for the relocation of a US military base, labeling it an "illegal invasion." Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga blasted the Wednesday move, asserting "the decision by the land minister represents illegal involvement," the Japan Times reports.

The local government filed a complaint with a third-party panel, the Central and Local Government Dispute Management Council, after Tokyo restarted the landfill work on Thursday. If the Council's ruling does not block the central government's work, which Okinawa has been opposing from the start, the local government plans to file a lawsuit.

Okinawa's previous governor, Hirokazu Nakaima, gave the go-ahead for the relocation of the US military's Futenma base to Henoko in 2013. The mood changed, however, in 2014, when Onaga was elected and promised to scuttle Tokyo's plans. Last week, Onaga stressed that he would do everything is his power to block "the construction of a new base at Henoko," the Asahi Shimbun reported.

On October 13, Onaga revoked permission for the construction of a new US military base to host the US Marine Corps. Tokyo is now looking to formerly invalidate Ogana's revocation and also plans to file a lawsuit, the Japan Times reported. Okinawa prefecture, home to about one percent of Japan's population, hosts nearly half of the 47,000 US troops based in Japan.


Comment: No one wants the US military in their backyard...or their country, for that matter! "This has gone on for 70 years since the end of World War II and now we are going to stop it." Okinawa accounts for 0.6 percent of Japanese land, but 74 percent of US military facilities are in Okinawa. The Okinawan citizens are determined. If they succeed, it will be a welcomed example of the power of the people, as so few exist today.

Palestinian political Islamists Hamas have demanded Britain apologize for agreeing to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine in 1917, a move experts say had "profound and pervasive" consequences for those who lived there.

Hamas released its statement Monday to coincide with the 98th anniversary of the declaration. It claimed the 1917 agreement between then British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour and influential Jewish community leader Baron Walter Rothschild is now null and void.

The original declaration, which aimed to combine two apparently contradictory aims, read:
"His Majesty's government view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country."

Comment: This is a great reminder from history how this Israel-Palestinian conflict started. Even in the Balfour Declaration, it states: "it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine", which Israel doesn't adhere to.

Qatar opens 'Labor City' (more like 'Slave City') for 70,000 foreign workers

An enormous worker complex in Qatar has been opened just outside of Doha. 'Labor City' can accommodate some 70,000 foreign workers, who come to the Gulf state to participate in its grand construction projects, such as those for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The country's Special Engineering Office officially presented the $825 million housing project which is set to house some 68,640 workers.

Sunday's ceremony in the capital, Doha, was opened by Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani and the Labor Minister Abdullah al-Khulaifi, who reiterated that improving living standards for migrant workers has become the country's priority.

Labor City, which lies just 14 kilometers from Doha and covers an area of 1,100,000 square meters, is just one of seven house complexes that the government is building to house almost 260,000 labor migrants.

Chipotle closes 43 restaurants in Oregon and Washington after investigation into E. coli outbreak opens

Fast food chain Chipotle voluntarily closed 43 restaurants in Washington State and Oregon over the weekend after health authorities launched an investigation into 22 cases of E. coli poisoning. Beef shipped across the US has also been recalled.

"There have been links made to six restaurants in the Seattle and Portland areas," Chris Arnold, communications director for Chipotle, told The New York Times. "We have closed 43 restaurants in those markets out of an abundance of caution."

The company is not planning to close any other restaurants because there is no evidence of an E. coli link to other locations. Re-openings will depend on the investigation.

The Oregon Health Authority said in a statement over the weekend that the outbreak affected people who had eaten at Chipotle outlets from October 14 to 23. They expect the number of cases to rise as more people hear about the situation and seek medical attention.
