Spiegel Online and Die Zeit said the report they obtained concluded that the majority of victims were boys aged 13 or younger, 969 of whom were altar boys. The study, commissioned by the German Bishops Conference, was conducted by three universities and was not due to be revealed until the September 25 conference.
According to the leaked research, every sixth case was a rape and at least 1,670 clergy were involved. Many of the priests caught abusing had recently been transferred to other parishes and a mere one-third of accused members of the clergy were investigated by the Catholic Church.
The research facility at Sacramento Peak was evacuated Thursday last week as was a nearby United States Post Office. It's not clear when they will open their doors again.
The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, which operates the Sunspot observatory, said in a statement to the Daily News Wednesday afternoon that it is "addressing a security issue."

"Spreading rumors and speculation about what has happened on the ISS [International Space Station] does not help experts in their work and is seeking to undermine the camaraderie in the station's crew. It is unacceptable to make any statements with reference to 'sources' before the commission of Roscosmos completes its work," Dmitry Rogozin wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
Rogozin made the comments after Russian newspaper Kommersant quoted unnamed sources as saying that the commission investigating the recent incident on the ISS is looking into the theory that the hole in the station's hull was drilled by one of the US astronauts who are currently manning the spacecraft.
The Agricultural Business Chamber said this week the Agbiz/IDC agribusiness confidence index has declined to the lowest in more than two years. According to the chamber, it's the weakest since 2016, when the nation suffered from a drought that ensued after the lowest annual rainfall in at least a century.
Statistics show farm prices in South Africa have plunged by a third since December. The average price of agricultural land sold in July was 9,318 rand ($613) a hectare compared with 13,700 rand, according to economist and chairman of Agri Development Solutions, Johann Bornman.
Agriculture output shrank 29 percent in the second quarter from the previous three months, the most among all industries. The sector employs 843,000 people, almost double the number of jobs in mining.
"The root of pessimism" is lingering policy uncertainty and weak economic growth, said Wandile Sihlobo, the head of agribusiness research at the chamber.
Julia Salazar is a Democratic candidate for the New York State Senate and member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She faces off against incumbent Martin Dilan on Thursday. With just days to go, Salazar tweeted that she was sexually assaulted by Keyes in 2013, before he took up his post as Netanyahu's spokesman.
"At the root of [abortion] hysteria is women's unhinged desire for irresponsible sex. Sex is their god. Abortion is their sacrament," McAllister tweeted. "It's abhorrent as women have flung themselves from the heights of being the world's civilizing force to the muck and mire of dehumanizing depravity."
As if to prove McAllister's point about depravity, abortion activists jumped on her case, calling her everything from crazy to misogynist to a supporter of "The Handmaid's Tale."
But the real danger came from elsewhere. McAllister told PJ Media that she received death and rape threats, over multiple forms of private communication.
"For diversity reasons, it would be nice to try to avoid 'master' and 'slave' terminology which can be associated to slavery," wrote Victor Stinner, a Python developer who works for Red Hat. He included links to previous complaints on the same topic.
But the move quickly put the IT expert at odds with some people on social media who were quick to voice their unease over the suggestion.
In reality, the only thief was not the strict but respected Portuguese official, but Williams, who stole the sweetest moments from the career of a rising young professional enjoying the early, emphatic and ultimately ephemeral peak of her career.
If the eyes are the window to the soul, Naomi Osaka clearly did not want to afford even a slight glance into her eviscerated inner self to the millions of people watching the trophy and check presentation after the US Open women's singles final climax and controversy on Saturday.
There, the 20-year-old rookie pulled her visor tightly down around her face while tears appeared from those eyes, anguish straight from her torn soul rolling down her cheeks as the crowd booed and hissed at what should have been the greatest moment of her short career.
Comment: In response to Williams' immature tirade toward the Carlos Ramos, top tennis umpires are considering boycotting future tennis matches featuring Serena Williams and forming a union to fight against her sexism claims:
"There is a lot of unhappiness in the umpiring community because no one is standing up for officials," an anonymous senior umpire told the Guardian. What seems clear is the Serena Williams is a person who was used to the breaks going her way during tennis matches, and when that did not happen and she actually had to deal with an umpire ruling the game impartially, she responded like a 12-year-old responds when having their candy taken away from them.
"Umpires keep asking: 'What if it was me in that chair on Saturday?' There is a widespread feeling that Carlos was hung out to dry for nearly 48 hours and that no one is standing up for officials."
For her, the umpire's ruling couldn't possibly be because she broke the rules, but because of a personal vendetta, sexism, racism, etc. That's the extent of her ability to understand the situation. Not only is she completely unable to read the situation accurately, but her behavior completely mortified Naomi Osaka, who instead of being able to celebrate winning a tennis Grand Slam has to deal with having the spotlight stolen by Serena Williams, who is not used to not having the spotlight on her. That shows a total lack of consideration, sportsmanship and maturity on Williams' part. She should be the one who is mortified, not Osaka.

The photos before and after of the students from Emile-Cohl art school in Lyon, eastern France are somewhat reminiscent of the game 'Spot the Difference'.
If you start looking attentively at the photo, you'll see that a student in the first row, third from right, is given a tan. Also, a man in a black T-shirt has been darkened, as well as a woman in the fourth row.
South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Jong-Hwan said that co-hosting the summer Olympics with the North would help to ease tensions and promote peace in the region, which has been at the center of tensions due to Pyongyang's nuclear program.
"I plan to make this proposal [to jointly bid for the Games] to the North for the settlement of peace," Do said on Wednesday during a business trip to Tokyo. "Seoul and Pyongyang would co-host the games," he added.
