The State of Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services approved the formation of Superbia Credit Union, the first ever not-for-profit credit union by and for the LGBTQ community.

Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Southfield), said, "State law doesn't protect Michigan's LGBTQ community from discrimination in the workplace and public accommodations. ... It's burdensome that gay and trans Michiganders must depend on private businesses to take it upon themselves to provide equal treatment to employees and consumers."

Sahar Khodayari was nicknamed "The Blue Girl" after the colors of her favorite team, Esteghlal.
A 29-year-old Iranian woman has died after setting herself alight after being charged for trying to attend a men's soccer match.

Sahar Khodayari, a soccer fan nicknamed "The Blue Girl" after the colors of her favorite team, Esteghlal, died in a Tehran hospital, Iranian media reported on September 9.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that she died over the weekend but that her death had been announced on September 9 after her burial under tight security measures in the holy Shi'ite city of Qom.

Khodayari's death comes days after she poured gasoline on herself and set herself alight outside a court on September 2 where she had been summoned after being charged following an attempt to enter a sports stadium to watch a soccer game.

Comment: Iran certainly isn't doing itself any favors by maintaining backward reactionary policies in order to 'keep out the West'. Such rigidity just bolsters Western propaganda against Iran. Yes, it appears that this poor woman did have a mental health history, but it is the duty of government to provide reasonable care for its citizens.

UFC could be forced to dump Octagon girls after politician moans that women parading in bikinis at fights is 'outdated'

ufc girls
THE MUCH-LOVED Octagon Girls could be banned from a UFC event in Australia next month after a politician claimed the tradition was "outdated".

Similar to boxing, mixed martial arts deploys scantily-clad females to parade around the cage prior to each round at their events.

That has led to the likes of the beautiful Chrissy Blair, Brittney Palmer, Arianny Celeste and Jhenny Andrade all becoming huge favourites with fight fans across the globe.

However, ahead of UFC 243 at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on October 6, Dana White's promotion is facing calls for the "sexist and backward" custom to be axed.

And Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp is leading the charge.

Comment: The politician clearly has no idea who the UFC target audience is. It's absolutely not outdated to use attractive women to keep the attention of young males. Also, a female politician wants to eliminate jobs for women. That doesn't sound very feminist, does it? Virtue signaling at the expense of the very people you are supposedly trying to help makes no sense. Welcome to the feminist reality!

Russia now has more assets than debt, despite sanctions

Thanks to steadily growing gold and foreign currency reserves, Russia's debt-to-GDP ratio has turned negative for the first time since its economy was hit by Western sanctions and by the oil market crash of 2014.

As of August 1, the state debt (at the federal, regional and municipal level) amounted to 16.2 trillion rubles (around $247.3 billion). At the same time liquid assets of federal government, regions and non-budget funds stood at 17.6 trillion (nearly $268.8 billion).

It means that the state debt in broad terms became lower than the nation's holdings, according to calculations by the Russian business outlet RBC, based on figures from the country's central bank and the ministry of finance. As a result of this, Russia would be able to fully cover loans issued by both external and domestic creditors using only the state deposits kept by the Central Bank of Russia and local commercial banks.

A high-ranking member of Belgium's Flemish nationalist party has appeared on the roof of a city hall in Antwerp to deliver a message about what he called a latent "occupation" by Muslims.

Filip Dewinter, leader of the right-wing, anti-immigration Vlaams Belang party in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, uploaded a video of himself standing on the rooftop and giving a quick history lesson before making his case.

The city hall in Antwerp "has been around since 1565," Dewinter said, emphatically adding that over five centuries it was occupied "by the Romans, the Spaniards, the French, the Germans and today by Islam."

According to the MP, every fourth Antwerp resident is Muslim, and "more than half" of schoolchildren come from Islamic families. "That must come to an end," Dewinter said, calling for a stop to the perceived "occupation of our city by Islam."

Feminist hysteria: Women to get cash advantage in new Ms. Monopoly game

A new version of Monopoly has women players earning more money than their male board game opponents.

In Ms. Monopoly, women start with $1,900 in Monopoly money, while men get just $1,500, according to USA Today, which was first with the news Tuesday of the revamped classic game. Women also get more moolah when passing "Go" throughout the competition.

"With all of the things surrounding female empowerment, it felt right to bring this to Monopoly in a fresh new way," Jen Boswinkel, Hasbro Gaming's senior director of global brand strategy and marketing, told the paper. "It's giving the topic some relevancy to everyone playing it that everybody gets a turn, and this time women get an advantage at the start."

Comment: Looks like equality only extends so far in the feminist world.

At least 31 people were killed and a further 100 injured in a stampede during the Shia Muslim ritual of Ashura in Kerbala, Iraq, according to the health ministry.

Initial reports suggested that a pedestrian walkway had collapsed, but additional bulletins suggest there was a stampede, though Iraqi officials have yet to confirm this.

Video from the scene shows the injured being stretchered away. While harrowing photos show piles of bodies among the dispersing crowds.

Ashura is a Muslim holiday commemorating the death of the prophet Mohammed's grandson, Imam Hussein, at a battle near Kerbala in the year 680. Every year, Shiite Muslims carry out a pilgrimage from all over the world to the holy site.

NRA sues San Francisco over 'domestic terrorist organization' declaration

guns
The National Rifle Association filed a lawsuit against San Francisco Monday over the city's recent declaration that the gun-rights lobby is a "domestic terrorist organization."

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against the city and county of San Francisco and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. It accuses city officials of violating the gun lobby's free speech rights for political reasons and claims the city is trying to blacklist anyone associated with the NRA from doing business there.

The gun rights lobby asked the court to step in "to instruct elected officials that freedom of speech means you cannot silence or punish those with whom you disagree."

Hundreds of Bahamian refugees forced off ferry headed to US

Refugess Bahamas Dorian
The ferry boat operator that ordered dozens of Hurricane Dorian evacuees from the Bahamas off its boat apologized to passengers Monday but said it made the decision after being told more authorization for their travel was needed.

Late Sunday, CNN affiliate WSVN reporter Brian Entin posted video from a Balearia ferry boat in which a person announced over a loudspeaker that anyone traveling to the United States without a visa must disembark. The ferry was set to travel from hurricane-ravaged Freeport, in the Bahamas, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when the announcement was made, Entin told CNN.

His video shows families with children getting off the vessel.

US Customs and Border Protection earlier said the operator did not properly coordinate the evacuation ahead of time.

Balearia Caribbean said it regretted and apologized for the "hardship and inconvenience" experienced by the 119 passengers from Grand Bahama who were not transported. But it added, "We boarded these passengers with the understanding that they could travel to the United States without visas, only to later having been advised that in order to travel to Ft. Lauderdale they required prior in-person authorization from the immigration authorities in Nassau."

US Customs and Border Protection struck a different tone Monday, pinning the blame for the incident on Balearia. CBP spokesman Michael Silva told WSVN that Balearia did not properly coordinate the evacuation efforts with the US Embassy, the Bahamian government and the US Agency for International Development.

General Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump, departs the E. Barrett Prettyman United States Courthouse following a pre-sentencing hearing on July 10, 2018.
Having followed Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn's perjury case from the beginning, it's been apparent to me for some time that there are a lot of things in this case that just don't add up. Strange occurrences abound.

Here are just some of the twists and turns in the case, which has gone on for more than three years.
