FILE PHOTO: A medical worker fills a syringe with Sputnik V (Gam-COVID-Vac) vaccine as she prepares to vaccinate a Russian Army service member at a clinic in the city of Rostov-On-Don, Russia December 22, 2020.
However, in recent weeks, Moscow-based representatives of the very same outlets have lined up to receive the much-maligned Sputnik V. Living in Russia, it is no surprise that the correspondents have a much more realistic view of the country than their New York and London-based superiors.
On Friday, the New York Times' Andrew Kramer revealed he had received his first dose of Sputnik V, praising the "bona fide accomplishment for Russian scientists continuing a long and storied practice of vaccine development," even noting that Moscow has avoided some of the logistical problems seen in the West.
Comment: Despite Russia's vaccine having more thorough testing and not being based on the experimental, unproven and potentially dangerous mRNA gene-editing, it's worth remembering that for the vast majority of people no vaccine is needed - and polls from France, Austria, and Russia, show that over half of the population don't want one. Moreover, allowing the harmless virus to spread through the population would lead to herd immunity.

Google has sought to downplay the significance of the move by noting the company conducts ‘tens of thousands of experiments in Google Search’ every year.
Google has been hiding some Australian news sites from search results, in a move media outlets say is a show of "extraordinary power" as the tech company bargains with the Australian government over financial payment for content.
The Australian government is attempting to impose a new code on Google and Facebook that would force them to negotiate a fair price for displaying local news content.

Christopher Stanton Georgia, 53, shot himself dead at his home in Alpharetta on Saturday. He was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and died by suicide, the Fulton County Medical Examiner said.
Documents obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com show Georgia's wife called 911 on Saturday morning, telling authorities there was 'blood everywhere'. His body was found in the basement of the home they share.
Family members on the scene were described by police as 'extremely distressed' in a police report.
Officers also removed two semi-automatic SKS rifles from Georgia's home, the department said.
According to documents from the Superior Court of DC, Georgia had been charged with attempting to 'enter certain property, that is, the United States Capitol Grounds, against the will of the United States Capitol Police.'
Comment: Suicides on both 'sides', law enforcement on both 'sides', and military on both 'sides'.
The 'Capitol Hill riot' could yet be symptomatic of a serious nationwide fracture developing in the US.

One of the men who was part of the siege of the Capitol building is John Earle Sullivan, an extreme BLM activist from Utah.
In clips of the actual event, he is heard encouraging fellow thugs to set fire to the building. Sullivan was also (magically) the person who was right on the spot to film the murder of Ashli Babbit.
Comment: Here's another thing to consider: the trouble at the Capitol started before Trump's speech (which took place 45 minutes' walk away from the Capitol):
- Capitol Hill shootout caught on video
- 'Activist' who stormed Capitol Building, interviewed by CNN, is actually a radical leftist from Utah, threatened to "rip Trump from White House"
- "Incitement" timeline debunked as ex-Capitol police Chief says Pelosi & McConnell's Sergeants-at-Arms refused security measures
One thing recent history has taught America is the first storyline of major tragedies or controversies is never the most accurate.
Americans were told by the Bush administration that they were sucker-punched by a surprise attack on 9/11 by terrorists, only to learn the CIA and FBI had significant advance evidence of the plot and its players and failed to connect the dots.
Susan Rice originally told the nation that the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was carried out spontaneously by a mob angered by an anti-Muslim video. The attack, it turned out, was pre-planned and carried out by an al-Qaeda-aligned terror group in Libya.
Comment: This isn't the first piece to suggest there was pre-planning and inside help on the Capitol siege. The more things get investigated, the more it looks like this wasn't simply the work of some bumbling Trump supporters who went too far.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saw that Congress is "looking into" media literacy initiatives to help "rein in" the press to combat misinformation in the wake of last week’s deadly breach of the U.S. Capitol.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that Congress is "looking into" media literacy initiatives to help "rein in" the press to combat misinformation in the wake of last week's deadly breach of the U.S. Capitol.
During a lengthy live stream on Instagram on Tuesday night, the leader of the so-called "Squad" discussed the aftermath of the Capitol riot, how she feared for her life during the chaos and what needs to be done going forward.

Ocasio-Cortez says she thought she 'was going to die' in 'close encounter' during Capitol riotingAnd this from RT adds an interesting bit of info into the mix:

A mob of angry Trump supporters stormed the Capitol as a joint session of Congress met to certify President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory.
The breach sent lawmakers into hiding and forced the proceedings to adjourn for several hours before police could clear the building. Federal law enforcement officials have said they believe the riots were organized online by far-right extremist groups with a goal among some of them of capturing or killing leading lawmakers.
Several of the demonstrators were seen in the Capitol carrying zip tie restraints, which are sometimes used instead of handcuffs.
House Democrats have introduced a single article of impeachment against Trump in the wake of the riot, accusing him of "inciting insurrection" and riling his supporters to commit acts of violence against them.
During a speech just hours before the riot began, Trump urged his supporters to march on Congress and display "strength" as they protested the Electoral College certification process.
Ocasio-Cortez was one of the first House members to call for Trump's impeachment following the incident last week, also attacking Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) for contesting the election's result.
"I don't want to see the Republican Party talk about blue lives ever again," Ocasio-Cortez said in reference to the death of a Capitol Police officer as a result of the rioting. "This was never about safety for them. It was always a slogan. Because if they actually care about the rule of law they would speak up when people break the law."
Congresswoman claims office 'panic buttons' removed before Capitol riot as Dems demand investigation into 'suspicious activitity'
13 Jan, 2021 22:11
Staff for Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Massachusetts) is claiming there is an investigation into office "panic buttons" being removed before the US Capitol riot while other Democrats are demanding a probe into "suspicious activity."
Democrats are leading the charge into conspiracy theories surrounding the siege of the US Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump last week, with multiple claims that more could have been involved in the riot.
Pressley's chief of staff, Sarah Groh, has gained the attention of many social media users thanks to a Boston Globe interview this week where she alleged that panic buttons from the congresswoman's office had been removed without explanation or warning from her office, something she and Pressley discovered on the day of the riot.
"Every panic button in my office had been torn out — the whole unit," Groh said, adding that she and other staff had previously used the duress buttons and they had been regularly tested.
A spokesperson for Pressley said in a Wednesday statement that the issue is currently being investigated and new panic buttons were installed in the office the day after the protest.
The House sergeant-at-arms and Capitol Police have not publicly addressed the matter, but it is just one of multiple details Democrats are saying needs to be looked into.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-New Jersey) led over 30 members of Congress in signing a letter demanding an investigation from the Acting House Sergeant at Arms, Acting Senate Sergeant at Arms, and United States Capitol Police into "suspicious activity" the day prior to events at the Capitol.
Sherrill claims that lawmakers helped run "reconnaissance" of the Capitol the day before the protest through public tours. She did not specifically name the lawmakers she was accusing.
"Many of the Members who signed this letter, including those of us who have served in the military and are trained to recognize suspicious activity, as well as various members of our staff, witnessed an extremely high number of outside groups in the complex on Tuesday, January 5," she and others wrote in their letter demanding an investigation.
They claim such access to the Capitol was "unusual" since the area has been restricted and public tours were canceled in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The tours being conducted on Tuesday, January 5, were a noticeable and concerning departure from the procedures in place as of March 2020 that limited the number of visitors to the Capitol. These tours were so concerning that they were reported to the Sergeant at Arms on January 5," they said.
They claim those who stormed the Capitol had "unusually detailed knowledge of the layout" of the complex.
Sherill promised in a Facebook Live video that she will hold lawmakers who allegedly gave access to the Capitol to protesters "accountable."
Sherill's accusations follow Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) claiming she did not feel safe around other members of Congress during the riot.
"There were QAnon and white-supremacist sympathizers and, frankly, white-supremacist members of Congress in that extraction point who I know and who I have felt would disclose my location and would create opportunities to allow me to be hurt, kidnapped, et cetera," she said, not identifying exactly whom she was referring to.
Comment: It's hardly surprising that Beller would speak like this candidly - this is the way that a number of liberals think.
Apparently Beller has been fired from PBS. From RT:
PBS lawyer fired after championing 'REEDUCATION CAMPS' for children of Trump supporters in latest Project Veritas sting
Hidden camera footage of PBS exec Michael Beller, in which he appears to wax poetic about 'deprogramming' Trump supporters' kids and celebrates their parents' death from Covid-19, has apparently gotten him fired.
...
PBS responded via Twitter just hours after Project Veritas' clip was posted, announcing that Beller - who had served as principal counsel of business affairs for PBS since 2013, according to his LinkedIn page - "no longer works for" the publicly-funded network. It even belittled his former role, calling him a "mid-level staff attorney" and insisting he did not make "any editorial decisions." The network stated they "strongly condemn[ed] violence."
Beller seemed less than serious in some parts of the recording, grinning, for example, as he suggested Biden supporters should "go to the White House and throw molotov cocktails" should the Democrat lose the election. While the summer's Black Lives Matter protests featured plenty of the homemade projectiles, few of Beller's class demographic were actually doing the throwing.
However, the lawyer seemed to have put quite a bit of thought into how to reeducate Trump supporters' kids, expanding on the "enlightenment camps" where they'd be sent as he spoke to his undercover companion. "They're nice! They have Sesame Street characters in the classrooms and they watch PBS all day." The children's program has been repeatedly skewered by conservative pundits for 'indoctrinating' the younger generation, most recently with a half-hour "anti-racist" special called "The Power of We."

Despite Glamis Castle's magnificence and its owners' position in the first rank of aristocratic wealth and privilege, behind the fabulous facade lie some murkier stories
Perhaps cursed is too strong a word. But down the decades the Bowes-Lyons have been dogged by scandal and intrigue.
We learnt yesterday that the 19th and 6th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, to give him his full title, is facing prison for sexually assaulting a guest at Glamis Castle, his ancestral home in Scotland which has been the family seat since the 14th century.
His great-great aunt, the Queen Mother, spent her childhood in the castle. Princess Margaret was born there and photographs of the royals adorn the walls.
"The Master Plan"
The whole world is talking about QAnon, the mysterious network of supposedly high-placed pro-Trump supporters that's allegedly been leaking secret information about the outgoing leader's "deep state" enemies for the past few years, after some of the Capitol Hill invaders pledged their loyalty to it before and during the events of that fateful day last week. There's little doubt that many of them were influenced by QAnon's narrative that Trump has hatched a "master plan" of epic proportions to take down traitorous elements in America's permanent military, intelligence, and diplomatic bureaucracies ("deep state") as well as their academia, media, political, and religious (specifically Roman Catholic) allies that most mere mortals are unable to comprehend since it involves the playing of so-called "5D chess". Having deluded themselves into mistakenly thinking that the President would support their storming of America's seat of government, they raided the building after police suspiciously removed barricades and even opened the doors for them to do so.
Comment: In a truly free society, these restrictions wouldn't make it off the runway.
