In the 2020 book, British journalist Catherine Belton chronicles Putin's rise to power and how many of his associates from the former Soviet spy services rose to positions of wealth and influence after he won the top Kremlin job in 1999.
Lawyers for the businessmen will tell the court that passages in the book Putin's People: How the KGB Took Back Russia and then Took on the West, published by HarperCollins, are defamatory. Abramovich is suing both HarperCollins and Belton, according to case details filed with the courts and tribunals service.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell speaks in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, March 30, 2020.
Mr. Lindell, who denies the results of the 2020 election, falsely added that former President Trump will be reinstated if both Mr. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris resign as he predicts may happen.
Speaking to Stephen K. Bannon, Mr. Trump's former strategist, Mr. Lindell described the hypothetical dual resignations as one of several "pathways" for the former president to reenter the White House.
ESPN columnist Bill Rhoden told CBS This Morning that the opening ceremony used to be one of his favorite parts of the Olympics, but that this year he felt differently about the event.

A building in Gaza collapses after being hit by Israeli missiles on May 12, 2021.
Israeli attacks on Gaza "violated the laws of war and apparently amount to war crimes," the New York-based rights group said in a report.
HRW added it "investigated three Israeli strikes that killed 62 Palestinian civilians where there were no evident military targets in the vicinity."
Gerry Simpson, associate crisis and conflict director at HRW, said Israeli forces carried out attacks "that devastated entire families without any apparent military target nearby," noting that Israel's "consistent unwillingness to seriously investigate alleged war crimes" underlines the need for the International Criminal Court's inquiry.
Comment: The excuse eventually given by Israel was the launching of 'incendiary balloons' into the area adjacent to the open air prison.
And the reason:
At present, the Health Service Executive [HSE] Covid hub website states that there are 141 people in hospital who have tested positive for Covid, of whom 22 are in ICU.
A Government spokesperson said it is "seeking better data on hospitalisations in order to better inform decision making.
Comment: Guess Ireland has finally caught up with the NHS in figuring out that only counting actual Covid deaths as Covid deaths (rather than anyone dying with Covid as a 'Covid death') the official numbers of total deaths from the disease will come down, making it seem as if the vaccines are working. Clever, no?

FILE PHOTO: People carry a banner, reading "Bishop, hiding pedophilia is a crime," during a protest in Warsaw.
The commission, which was established by the government in 2019, shared the results of its work on Monday in a 250-page paper.
The experts examined 349 pedophilia cases during this period, with priests being suspects in around 100 of them. More than 50 of these cases have been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office, the report said.

A video surfaced on various social media platforms showing a Black woman handcuffed, laying on the ground facedown as two APD officers stand over her.
The woman then appears to raise her head and spit on one of the officers' boots and pants. The officer in response swiftly kicks the woman in the head while his colleague watches.

According to the Telegraph newspaper, the government supports a proposal that would encourage civil servants to take a "pronoun pledge" and add their preferred pronouns - such as he/him, she/her, they/them, or even zie/zir - to their email signatures.
Though it appears that the Scottish government is moving ahead with the proposal, it has already proved to be an unpopular idea among government staffers.
Comment: The authoritarian hammer is coming down! It's all well and good to have people voluntarily putting their pronouns on display and allowing for those who think it's stupid to refrain. But forcing everyone to take part in this ridiculous virtue signal is trampling on free speech rights.

"Extreme threat": Explosion rocks waste incineration plant in Germany, 2 dead, 5 missing, 30 injured

Emergency vehicles stand not far from an access road to the Chempark over which a dark cloud of smoke is rising in Leverkusen, Germany, July 27, 2021.
More than thirty people were injured in the blast, including three "seriously," the municipality said in a statement.
"My thoughts go to the injured and their relatives. The search for the missing is still going on at full speed. Unfortunately, the hope of finding them alive is fading, " said the site operator's manager Lars Friedrich.

The suit, filed on behalf of America's Frontline Doctors in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, is based on a sworn statement by a government insider under federal whistleblower protection.
Speaking at the Re-awaken Tour event held July 17-18 in Anaheim, California, Renz made the bombshell announcement he says is based on a whistleblower with access to government computers and can prove that "at least 45,000" Americans have already been killed by the three COVID-19 vaccines authorized for emergency use by the FDA.

These numbers are very close to what Dr. Peter McCullough reported in a video posted June 20 by LeoHohmann.com, Behind the Vaccine Veil: Doctor cites 'whistleblowers' inside CDC who claim injections have already killed 50,000 Americans.
"This is brand new announcement. I'm filing papers in federal court today," Renz said at the Re-awaken conference.

Comment: Despite the sneering tone of the article, Mr. Lindell has marshalled a bevy of experts and an impressive pile of evidence that he is correct about the fraudulent election. Whether or not that will be enough to overturn it is another matter, given that multiple courts have dismissed previous lawsuits on technicalities, before any evidence could be presented. What is odd and unsettling is that many Republican party members are impeding Lindell whenever possible. Apparently Trump is unacceptable to Washington swamp critters on both sides of the aisle.
