Bull Shot: Cops summon rancher to put down bull then murder him - no charges, paid vaca

The killers of Council, Idaho rancher Jack Yantis will soon return to work after being cleared of criminal charges by Idaho Attorney General Larry Wasden. Nearly ten months have elapsed since Yantis, 62, was cut down by a twelve-shot fusillade alongside Highway 95 after he had been summoned by the Adams County Sheriff's Office to put down a bull that had been struck by a car. The deputies who responded to the accident, Brian Wood and Cody Roland, shot the bull, but neither was able to kill it. Roland called the sheriff's dispatch to have Yantis kill the animal.

The collision with the bull occurred early on the evening of November 1. Yantis, his wife Donna, and their friend Rowdy Paradis, arrived on the scene at 7:22 PM. Yantis was armed with a .204 bolt action rifle; Paradis was driving a skid-loader that would be used to haul away the dead bull. Yantis approached the stricken animal, passing Deputy Wood, who was armed with a .223 rifle that had been ineffective in dealing with the bull.

"Get that piece of sh*t away from my animal," Yantis instructed the deputy, as he approached the bull and lined up a kill-shot near its head. Mrs. Yantis and Mr. Paradis testified that he had chosen an angle that was safe; Wood and Roland - who had been impotently flinging lead at the beast - later claimed that they were worried that the angle Yantis selected potentially endangered people to the south of the accident scene.

Comment: There doesn't have to be a crime. There doesn't have to be a reason. There only has to be a trigger-happy cop and a corrupt justice system.

Mainstream "thinking" weighs in: Can 2016 be considered one of the worst years in history?

Bastille Day terror

Will 2016 go down as one of the worst years in history? A glance at the news might make you think so.

Last week's grotesque murder of the 85-year-old Normandy priest, Father Jacques Hamel, came hard on the heels of the Nice massacre a fortnight ago. In France alone, nearly 250 people have been killed by terrorists over the last year and a half - more than the total number of French civilians killed by terrorists over the entire 20th century.

The fear after the terror is great, too. In Cannes, that byword for free and easy French Riviera living, authorities last week banned any beach bags big enough to conceal a weapon.

And that's just France. Add in Germany - which has seen an axe attack, a teenager on a mad shooting spree, a vicious knifing and a suicide bombing, which left 13 dead, including three attackers, and dozens wounded.

Then there's Turkey, where the failed coup a fortnight ago left more than 300 people dead and more than 2,100 injured. And that was less than three weeks after three suicide bombers hit Istanbul Ataturk Airport, killing 41 and injuring more than 230.

The list goes on: police killing civilians in America, civilians killing police; the mass bloodbaths of Syria and Iraq; the Zika virus devastating Brazil, just before the Rio Olympics.

Fox seeks to dominate cable news in post-Ailes era

Fox News
Fox News dominated the cable news landscape for 20 years under Roger Ailes but now faces questions about whether it can extend its reign going forward.

The shocking departure of Ailes amid allegations of sexual harassment has left Rupert Murdoch, the 85-year-old executive chairman of 21st Century Fox, in charge. But with a number of other major media properties to attend to and age considerations, Murdoch's role running day-to-day operations out of New York will only be in an interim capacity.

A source familiar with the situation says it could be "multiple months" before any permanent successor to Ailes is decided upon.

The same source says there's no rush to make a decision because current management at the network is stable in the hands of Murdoch; Bill Shine, senior executive vice president of programming; and Jay Wallace, executive vice president of news and editorial.

Rivals of Fox see an opportunity, while longtime political fans of the network, who saw it buttress the conservative political movement, are openly worried the network could shift under new leadership.

Sex change men in the UK to give birth on NHS funds

Women having sex changes on the NHS are being given free fertility treatment so they can have babies after they become men.

At least three British men who were born female are 'on the brink' of becoming parents using IVF techniques, according to a top doctor.

And dozens more are now having their eggs frozen at NHS clinics before undergoing surgery or hormone therapy to switch sex.

The controversial treatment means that a British transgender man could soon become a parent - all funded by the taxpayer.

In rare circumstances, the man could become pregnant and give birth, although the vast majority of cases would involve implanting an embryo into a surrogate mother, often the man's partner.

Last night critics said cash-strapped health authorities should not be spending up to £34,000 per patient to help them change sex and have children when they are rationing basic services such as cataract operations, hip replacements and even hearing aids.

PHE: Recommends sex ban for Brits visiting Florida after Zika outbreak

Approximately 50,000 British holidaymakers currently in Florida should avoid unprotected sex for the rest of the summer holidays because of the risk from Zika virus, according to government advice. An outbreak of four mosquito-transmitted cases yesterday prompted Public Health England (PHE) to advise pregnant women to consider postponing non-essential travel to the southern US state.

But for the large numbers of British tourists already there, the presence of the virus means that they should refrain from sex without a condom for eight weeks, even if neither partner has symptoms of the disease and there is no prospect of a pregnancy.

PHE advises that males returning from a Zika-affected area who show symptoms of the virus, which can include a rash, itching and headaches, should refrain from unprotected sex for a full six months to avoid onward transmission. The guidance mirrors that given to Andy Murray and other members of the British Olympic team who are traveling to Rio.

The FBI has released files revealing Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein was under government surveillance for her activism work. Epstein, who died in May at the age of 91, caught the FBI's attention due to her support for Palestinian causes. The files were released in response to a Freedom of Information request by writer Waqas Mirza. Documents reveal the FBI was monitoring Epstein's work with the International Solidarity Movement and the group's trip to Israel in 2003.

She became active in human rights causes, including racial discrimination, housing issues, immigration policy and anti-war movements. Her FBI file details some of her work for housing integration and against discrimination in the 1970s.

Epstein became interested in the Palestinian cause after the Sabra and Shatila massacres in 1982. She went on to found the St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee and ran the Jewish Voice for Peace in St Louis. She traveled to the West Bank many times and dedicated her efforts to ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

She was detained and strip and cavity searched at Tel Aviv's airport in 2004, which she later described as having left her feeling "very angry and traumatized." Even at the age of 87, Epstein continued to make headlines after she tried to penetrate the Gaza blockade on the Freedom Flotilla, Audacity of Hope. Epstein was arrested in 2014, at the age of 90, for "failure to disperse" after protesting Missouri Governor Jay Nixon's decision to use the national guard against Black Lives Matter protestors in Ferguson.

Muslim preacher in Cardiff implies sex slaves OK under Islam

A British Muslim preacher in Cardiff has stoking tensions with his radical sermons by saying it's ok to take prisoners and sex slaves under Islam. The imam preaches at the same mosque that saw three young radicalized jihadists leave the UK for Syria.

Preaching to boys as young as 13, Ali Hammuda would deliver many of the messages associated with radical Islamic groups like Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), including that "the day of judgment is close," according to the Daily Mail.

Hammuda is officially known as an English Islamic Programmes officer. He still preaches at the Al-Manar mosque, two years after three of its young members traveled to Syria to fight for terrorist organizations.

A secret recording a Koran study group was made by undercover reporter Rizwan Syed, who sent a copy to the Daily Mail. The tape was part of an investigation into jihadism by the company Hardcash Productions. It was made in October 2014.

There are a lot of confusing messages delivered by Hammuda, but what mostly shocked the British public about his sermons, is his interpretation of Hadiths, particularly ones concerning to slavery.
