Poll: Most New Yorkers want to see criminal charges in the death of Eric Garner

A majority of New Yorkers think criminal charges should be brought against police officer Daniel Pantaleo, the cop most directly involved in last month's death of Eric Garner on Staten Island, a new poll shows.

According to a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday, 64 percent of New York City voters would support brining charges against Pantaleo, while only 19 percent would oppose charges. When the numbers are broken down by race, 83 percent of black voters approve of charges being brought against Pantaleo, along with 50 percent of white voters.

Similarly, 90 percent of black voters polled think there is "no excuse" for the way officers acted when arresting Garner, while 50 percent of white voters feel the same.

Garner, a black 43-year-old father of six and grandfather of two, died on July 17 after Pantaleo put him into a banned chokehold during an arrest for selling untaxed cigarettes in the Tompkinsville section of Staten Island. A viral video of the incident shows Garner, who suffered from asthma, screaming "I can't breathe" numerous times before his body goes limp. A medical examiner later ruled his death a homicide.

Garner's death has once again brought the relationship between the NYPD and the city's minority communities into focus. Wednesday's poll shows that 63 percent of voters think cops treat black New Yorkers tougher than they do white New Yorkers. When the numbers are broken down by race, 83 percent of black voters said cops were tougher on blacks, while 50 percent of white voters agreed.

Prime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic: 'Only Russian volunteers are fighting with Novorossiyan battalions, no regular Russian forces'

Image
© RIA Novosti / Mikhail VoskresenskiyPrime Minister of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko.
About 3-4,000 Russian citizens joined anti-government fighters during Kiev crackdown in Ukraine's east, says the leader of Donetsk independent republic, noting that self-defense fighters have never concealed this fact.

"They [Russian volunteers] are among us, people of Donbass [Region, eastern Ukraine] because we are blood brothers," said the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Donetsk People's Republic, Aleksandr Zakharchenko, in an interview to Russian media.

"There is no secret that among the volunteers from Russia there are many military men. They are fighting together with us because they understand that it's their duty," he added.

According to the Donetsk PM, some of the volunteers returned home to Russia, others stayed in eastern Ukraine.

"Unfortunately, some of [the Russian volunteers] were killed," said Zakharchenko.

He explained why he thinks Russian volunteers are joining self-defense forces in eastern Ukraine.

"I think that only among Russians is there a heightened feeling of sorrow and human misfortune, only they are able to travel to any part of the world, die, fight for the independence and freedom of people."

Comment: Zakharchenko's statements are fully supported by the OSCE.

Those UN figures on casulaties in Kiev's 'Anti-Terror Operation' (really, a war of independence) are probably inaccurate.

Novorossiyan sources have provided these figures to SOTT.net:
Dead civilians: 7,000

Novorossiyan forces: 2,500 - 3,000

Ukrainian regular army and private battalions set up by oligarchs: 16,000

Just like Israel: Kiev shells city of Donetsk yet again, targets schools and apartment buildings

Kiev forces have shelled residential areas in the center of the rebel-held town of Donetsk, killing at least three people and damaging several apartment blocks, a kindergarten and a cultural center.

On Wednesday, Kalininsky District in the center of the city came under artillery fire from the government forces.

RT's Paula Slier arrived on the scene less than half an hour after the shelling when the local residents were "still in shock".

One of the missiles directly hit a passenger car on Shevchenko Boulevard, turning the vehicle into a torch.

"There's a car where three people have died and the bodies are badly burned inside," Slier said.

Another missile hit the roof of the Youth Culture Center as several fire brigades were working to put out the fire caused by the explosion, she added.

According to the City Council, a kindergarten and two apartment blocks were also shelled in the area.

Luckily, the DPR's armed forces have organized and are going on the offensive. Plus, Russia is planning more aid convoys, after their first success.

Analysts conclude MH17 downed by aircraft, evidence for very strong machine-gun fire

mh17 bullet hole hull cockpit
© unknownThe holes in the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 are believed to have come from 30mm cannon fire.
Intelligence analysts in the United States had already concluded that Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down by an air-to-air missile, and that the Ukrainian government had had something to do with it.

This corroborates an emerging theory postulated by local investigators that the Boeing 777-200 was crippled by an air-to-air missile and finished off with cannon fire from a fighter that had been shadowing it as it plummeted to earth.

In a damning report dated Aug 3, headlined "Flight 17 Shoot-Down Scenario Shifts", Associated Press reporter Robert Parry said "some US intelligence sources had concluded that the rebels and Russia were likely not at fault and that it appears Ukrainian government forces were to blame".

Comment: As Joe Quinn wrote in his mid-July 2014 article Who shot down Malaysian Airlines Flight 17? New Cold War, same old propaganda:
Expect any 'investigation' into this disaster to be a drawn-out affair, thwarted at every turn by the culprits. Other events in the fast-changing geopolitical landscape will soon eclipse it...
This especially has come true. No real investigation has happened. The aircraft has not been assembled like a jigsaw puzzle as is usual for such incidents. After just a few days, this catastrophe evaporated entirely from the mainstream media and public awareness. But we all will have to pay for this 'forgetting' due to the long-term political repercussions arising from this incident.

One disagreement we have with this analysis is that there is insufficient evidence to say one way or another whether the explosion was caused externally or internally. The most sure-fire (please excuse the pun) way to down an aircraft is to plant a bomb on-board. With the Su-25 being sent up beforehand to take out the pilots, absolutely no chances were taken with MH17 - the perpetrators were determined that that plane was coming down.

Slavyansk surgeon speaks about his work in east Ukraine

Kovalev
Mikhail Georgievich Kovalev, a Slavyansk surgeon, photographed carrying a murdered child, a victim of Ukrainian atrocities.
Preamble: This is an online conference with a former surgeon of the Slavyansk hospital (he performed operations on Strelkov's soldiers and left the town together with the retreating Militia). He now lives in Russia. He is the man pictured on the unforgettable blood-chilling photograph above, which has become one of the symbols of the war in Donbass, of the atrocities committed by the Ukrainian army, and of the irrepressible spirit of the people of Novorossiya.

Online Interview with Mikhail Georgievich Kovalev (a.k.a. Anderer)

It has been a month since I left my native Slavyansk. You can say that I have gotten used to and settled in the new place. Now I live in Russia. I thank all those who helped me materially and continue to provide me with emotional support. A separate thank you goes to San'ka. Without him, I would not have made it.

Q. Who are the people in Slavyansk for? (for Ukrainians, against them, indifferent? Before the events in question and now?)

There were no indifferent people left after the first shelling. Approximately three thousand people left the town before the Referendum on May 11, 2014. They were mostly the town bosses, rich people and obvious Ukrainian Nazi supporters. Not too many for a town of 150 thousand. By the middle of June around half of the population still remained in town, including six thousand men of Strelkov's Militia. There would have been more people in the Militia but those with small children or with very old parents were not taken into the ranks. There was approximately the same number of active helpers, like myself. There are approximately thirty thousand people in the town now: old people, people who could not leave for different reasons, and those who returned.

Q. "There were no indifferent people left after the first shelling" - did I understand you correctly that all those who remained supported the Militia?

I would say yes. The level of this support varied from active participation to "armchair sympathy".

Roger Waters: The U.S. position in Gaza reveals a stunning moral perversity in government and media

Image
© Reuters/Chip EastRoger Waters
The carnage in Gaza continues after the latest collapse of cease-fire talks and over four weeks of asymmetrical bombardment by Israel. With the death of more than 2,000 Palestinians, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands more, the complicity of the American government has been exposed to the world as never before. Yet the mantra repeated ad nauseam by the U.S. government and media alike remains the same: Israel has a right to defend itself.

The moral perversity of the U.S. position is stunning. How can the U.S. government ask Israel to be more careful about civilian lives while simultaneously arming and then rearming the IDF so it can more effectively inflict such devastation on an imprisoned and occupied people?

The U.S. could act to stop the senseless slaughter but it won't. Instead, it's cheerleading. Members of Congress are mindlessly parroting Israeli talking points without a thought given to the Palestinian perspective or to preserving human life. Brimming with righteousness, they argue for turning Israel loose - Sen. Rand Paul in particular - and invoke Israel's right to self-defense, despite the fact that, as the occupying power, Israel has an obligation to protect the Palestinians it rules, not massacre them.

Do congressional leaders ever stop to wonder what they would do if they were born Palestinian, had their homes and private property stolen from them, and were forced to live without freedom under an illegal Israeli occupation for 47 years? Do they know what it means to be on the receiving end of Israel's barbaric "mow the lawn" euphemism? Scarcely a word is said about the rights of Palestinians who are being pummeled from the sky and shot dead in their neighborhoods by the region's most powerful military. What, I wonder, would Americans do if it were their neighborhoods being invaded and if they were the ones living under siege? I think it's safe to say Americans wouldn't stand for it.

Mexican judge stands up to Big Agra, bans Monsanto from planting GMO soybeans

Image
A Mexican judge in a federal district court in Yucatan state has recently overturned a permit issued to Monsanto, the America-based multinational mega-ag giant corporation that has long been the leading developer and supplier of genetically modified (GM) crops.

Devon G. Pena, writing for Environmental and Food Justice, said that the permit, which was issued by the Mexican Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food on June 6, 2012, "allowed the commercial planting of GM soy bean in Yucatan."

The recent court reversal was based on consideration of scientific evidence that demonstrated (to the satisfaction of the judge) that GM soy crop plantings are a threat to Mexican honey production in the states of Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo.

Comment: Mexico is following the lead of many other countries around the world who see that GMO crops are a huge health risk to humans, plants, and animals:

Tipping point near? Pathocrats engineering population control via income inequality, inflation and food shortages

food riots
The cost of food has been steadily increasing in places like Thailand and Venezuela as evidenced by the fact that since the beginning of 2014, riots are occurring in countries that are suffering through extreme food shortages. These mass protests movements may all have one thing in common, increasing food prices are the cause of the civil unrest.

According to Dr. Yaneer Bar-Yam and his research colleagues at the New England Complex Systems Institute (NECSI), they are collectively stating that civil unrest, spurred by food shortages may be anticipated for their effect by a mathematical model that correlates the variables of rising food costs, diminished and that are related to income and civil unrest. The present data suggests that America is ripe for the same kinds of civil disruption that we are witnessing in Thailand and Venezuela. How bad could the civil unrest become? Nobody can be certain except to say that America is entering into uncharted waters.

If one uses the violent civil unrest in Ferguson, MO. as a barometer of severity of the act of rioting, we need to realize that people are protesting the shooting death of one young man by a local police officer. Imagine how much more vitriolic these protests would become, how much more looting would take place and how many more people would be killed and injured if people and their children were facing starvation and these riots were food riots. The people of the United States are almost at the point of no return with regard to the coming food riots.

Comment: The entire planet is on a collision course with disaster thanks to the machinations of the global psychopathic elites. There are far more sinister reasons to begin preparing for a future which will be completely different than anyone expects!

ADL ad justifying Israeli murder of Palestinian children translated into plain words by actor Wallace Shawn

Image
ADL ad that appeared in The Hollywood Reporter
Playwright and actor Wallace Shawn has responded to this Anti-Defamation League(ADL) ad blaming Palestinians for Israel's mass slaughter of children in Gaza.

Shawn's brilliant "translation" of the ad into plain English is below.

Five hundred and sixteen children are among the 2,142 Palestinians killed by Israel's current bombardment of the Gaza Strip, according to the latest tally from Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.

The ad, which appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, was signed by a number of show business executives. It quotes an infamous statement by Golda Meir, the American colonial settler in Palestine who became Israel's prime minister, justifying Israel's slaughter of Arab children during her time.

Along with ADL National Director Abraham Foxman and National Chair Barry Curtiss-Lusher, The Hollywood Reporter identifies some of those who signed the ADL ad as MGM chairman Gary Barber, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, Nu Image/Millennium Films co-chairman Avi Lerner, Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Amy Pascal and Saban Capital Group chairman and CEO Haim Saban.

Rochdale council protects pedophiles, rejects claim of child sex abuse as 'out of time'

Image
Children in a play at the Bryn Alyn home run by John Allen (centre), who was jailed in 1995 for indecent assault on six boys.
Council chiefs in Rochdale are refusing compensation to a victim of child sex abuse because they say that his claim is out of time.

Their stance that the claim is "statute barred" could hit many who were sexually abused decades ago as children in the care of Rochdale borough council, where the pedophile MP Sir Cyril Smith was a dominant figure for many years.

The victim, whose identity Exaro is protecting and who asked to be referred to as "Peter", said that from the age of 12 he suffered a horrendous catalogue of sexual abuse by a staff member at a children's home.

Peter, 38, said: "I am appalled that the council is trying to hide behind this legislation."

The council is relying on the Limitation Act 1980, under which a legal action for personal injury suffered in childhood must be brought within three years of a victim's 18th birthday.

However, a court has the discretion to extend the time when deemed to be in the interests of justice.
