Two U.S. airlines cancelled all flights to Israel until further notice, after a rocket landed near Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport.

Delta Air Lines and United Airlines said Tuesday they are suspending service between the U.S. and Israel indefinitely. US Airways scrapped its Tel Aviv service Tuesday and said it is monitoring the situation in regards to future flights.

Delta Air Lines' one daily flight was already in the air. Delta said a Boeing 747 from New York was flying over the Mediterranean headed for Tel Aviv when it turned around and flew to Paris instead. Flight 468 had 273 passengers and 17 crew on board.

Israeli police confirmed that a rocket from Gaza landed in an area near the airport. Police spokeswomen Luba Samri said the rocket caused damage to a house and slightly wounded one Israeli.

Shock, a government that helps its citizens! Kentucky town opens city-owned gas station to counter high prices

A Kentucky town listened to its citizens' complaints about high gas prices within its borders, and responded by opening a gas station run by the city government. Now critics are accusing Somerset's officials of socialism.

The city of 11,000 opened the gas station on Saturday, and 75 customers filled up in the first three hours, according to WDRB. It served 360 vehicles over the course of the entire day, according to WTVQ.

A gallon of regular unleaded - the only type of gas sold - cost $3.36, which is three cents cheaper than at several nearby stations. Gas in the town often averages 20 to 30 cents a gallon more than in neighboring towns, George Wilson, the town's economic development business coordinator, told the Associated Press. The no-frills station does not have a convenience store or a mechanic.

The mayor, Eddie Girdler, said the station was created in response to years of grumbling by townspeople about consistently high prices. It is repurposed from a government-vehicle-only station to one that can be used by the city's residents and visitors.

Right wingers in UK don't believe human rights exist

Image

Almost half of Conservative and UKIP voters don't believe in human rights, or in the European court that regulates them, according to pollsters at YouGov.

The poll shows that 37 percent of Tories (con) don't believe that humans are entitled to any form of rights merely by virtue of their humanity. Meanwhile, four in 10 UKIP voters said they didn't believe human rights at all.

The data reflects the negative opinions of the European Union by Conservative and UKIP voters. While UKIP is a party founded on Euroskepticism, data also shows that more than half of Tory voters would vote to leave the EU if a referendum was held tomorrow.

In contrast, Lib Dems (lib) topped the poll for their support for human rights at 83 percent, while Labour (lab), which passed the Human Rights Act in 1998 under Tony Blair, polled at 68 percent.

Anti-Jewish leaflets were found on several vehicles on Chicago's Northwest Side, police said.

Six vehicles were discovered with leaflets containing anti-Semitic threats in their windshields Saturday morning in the 6300 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

According to the Chicago Tribune, residents reported the material contained threats to Jewish people in connection to the rising conflict in Gaza.

The leaflets reportedly threaten violence if Israel does not pull out of Gaza.

Police officers' ties to Ku Klux Klan shocks small Florida town

Ann Hunnewell and her central Florida police officer husband knelt in the living room of a fellow officer's home, with pillow cases as makeshift hoods over their heads. A few words were spoken and they, along with a half-dozen others, were initiated into the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, she says.

Last week, that five-year-old initiation ceremony stunned residents of the small town of Fruitland Park, who found out an investigative report linked two city officers with the secret hate society that once was violently active in the area. Ann Hunnewell's ex-husband, George Hunnewell, was fired, and deputy chief David Borst resigned from the 13-member Fruitland Park Police Department. Borst has denied being a member.

James Elkins, a third officer who Ann Hunnewell says recruited her and her husband, resigned in 2010 after his Klan ties became public.

The violence against blacks that permeated the area was more than 60 years ago, when the place was more rural and the main industry was citrus. These days, the community of less than 5,000 residents about 50 miles northwest of Orlando has been infused by the thousands of wealthier, more cosmopolitan retirees in the area. Those who live in the bedroom community, which is less than 10 percent black, have reacted not only with shock, but disgust that officers could be involved with the Klan, the mayor said.

Several hundred pro-Palestinian protesters have demanded a halt to military action in Gaza during a peaceful protest near the Israeli embassy in the Cypriot capital.

Monday's protest was organized by left-wing trade unions and peace groups and included Turkish Cypriot activists from the ethnically divided island's breakaway north.

Riot police standing behind a cordon of barbed wire-topped fences prevented marching protesters from approaching the embassy's entrance.

Some protesters burned a hand-painted Israeli flag.

Organizers condemned the bloodshed in Gaza and urged the international community to put pressure on Israel to stop the fighting.

Texas to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to 'greet' the children who cross the U.S. - Mexico border

Texas Gov. Rick Perry activated 1,000 National Guard troops and will deploy them to the Rio Grande Valley. There they will join the state's Department of Public Safety in an effort to combat human smuggling across the country's southern border.

"I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault, and little children from Central America are detained in squalor. We are too good a country for that to occur," Perry said during his announcement of Operation Strong Safety.

"The National Guard troops that I am deploying will support the state-led border surge by acting as a force multiplier on the ground and providing additional air assets beyond their current efforts," the Texas governor said. "These additional resources will help combat the brutal Mexican drug cartels that are preying upon our communities, and also will help deter others before they have a chance to harm our citizens and become criminal aliens within our borders."

Comment: That's Texan hospitality for you: deploy militia to greet the children who cross the border hoping for better life conditions on the U.S. side. Mayor Perry referring to these children states he needs to deter them "before they have a chance to harm our citizens and become criminal aliens within our borders." What a load of racist paramoralisms!

The ambitious plan to break California into small city-states - Is it a model for the future?

California 6 states
© Ornias.info
The more I've thought about potential solutions to the gigantic mess we have found ourselves in as a species, the more I have come to believe we need to break apart into a vast multitude of city-states. The revolutionary concept of America in the first place was this idea of "self-governance," something we do not posses an iota of in this day and age. As was noted recently in an academic paper published by Princeton and Northwestern, these United States have mutated into nothing short of an oligarchy. In fact, the study demonstrated that the will of the people has essentially zero impact on legislation whatsoever.

OSCE says dozens of civilians killed, over 100 injured in Luhansk shelling - while Kiev junta denies any wrongdoing

Luhansk After Shelling

Dozens of civilians were killed and more than a hundred others injured last week in a massive shelling of Luhansk, a city in eastern Ukraine, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said Monday.

The OSCE said citing the local emergency services that the shelling occurred on July 18-19.

Members of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine went to downtown Luhansk, where they observed a large crater beside a bus stop.

"Shattered windows and shrapnel fragments in the walls of two nearby six-storey buildings were seen, and blood and body parts along the pavement and road," the OSCE said.

The monitors also saw "five houses reduced to rubble on the outskirts of the city" and "the remains of a rocket of an indeterminable type at the scene."

Comment: The similarity with Israel is astounding: the declaration of all inhabitants of an area to be terrorists, to the brutal bombing of civilians with mass casualties followed by a denial of any wrongdoing. See the similarity?

This pattern reveals the hand of who has been aiding the fascists all along.
