Five major Russian banks repel massive DDoS attack

At least five Russian major banks came under a continuous hacker attack, although online client services were not disrupted. The attack came from a wide-scale botnet involving at least 24,000 computers, located in 30 countries.

The attack began Tuesday afternoon, and continued for two days straight, according to a source close to Russia's Central Bank quoted by RIA Novosti. Sberbank confirmed the DDoS attack on its online services.

"The attacks are conducted from botnets, consisting of tens of thousands computers, which are located in tens of countries," Sberbank's press service told RIA.

The initial attack was rather massive and its power intensified over the course of the day.

"We registered a first attack early in the morning ... the next attack in the evening involved several waves, each of them was twice as powerful as the previous one. Bank's cybersecurity noticed and located the attack in time. There have been no problems in client online services," Sberbank representative said.

Now that Donald Trump has beaten Hillary Clinton to become the president-elect of the United States, speculation has begun about what went so wrong in the Clinton campaign.

Clearly, one issue cannot be blamed entirely for Clinton's political demise. However, the impact of hackers and whistleblowers on this campaign was unlike anything seen before in a US election and forced the Clinton camp to spend many trail hours on the defensive.

WikiLeaks' onslaught of almost 60,000 leaked emails from Clinton's campaign chair John Podesta engulfed the campaign every day for a month in the run up to election day, and exposed some embarrassing inner workings of the campaign.

One of the most damaging Clinton controversies came in the form of her infamous use of a private email server to send and receive classified documents during her time as secretary of state.

Another damaging revelation came from the WikiLeaks' release of emails from key members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Leaked emails showed inner party strategizing to support Clinton and hamper her party rival Bernie Sanders during the primary campaign.

Man claiming to be a vampire attacks grocery worker

A New Hampshire man is under arrest after allegedly assaulting a grocery store employee early Tuesday morning.

Police say a female employee was taking boxes out to the dumpster when a man approached her asking if she needed help. The man, whom police identified as 21-year-old Jacob May, then allegedly claimed he was a vampire and began running towards her.

Police say May followed her as she ran inside the store yelling for help. The female told police May yelled, "just touch me, I can save you." May allegedly wrapped his arms around her when she fell to the ground. Police say May then attacked another employee who tried to fight him off.

After Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States, angry supporters of Hillary Clinton, with many college students among them, took to the streets on both coasts to express their dissatisfaction with the result of the vote.

Some of the largest protests happened on the West Coast, with crowds marching through California's Oakland, Berkeley, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Comment: Clinton supporters were in such a patriotic mood that they even burned the American flag in the streets of Portland:

Footage also emerged of activists setting tyres and rubbish bins on fire, blocking main roads and lighting flares.

A deeply disturbing video was just released capturing the interrogation of three juvenile suspects who were accused of stealing a police vehicle in February. The subsequent treatment doled out by the officers who conducted the 'investigation' is nothing short of criminal and should be grounds for their firing, trial, and sentencing.

According to Mass Live, the impromptu interrogations unfolded hours after a group of teens allegedly stole an undercover narcotics SUV left idling outside a Worthington Street pizza shop while a detective was picking up a take-out order after 10 p.m. on Feb. 26, according to police records.

After a short pursuit, officers deployed spike strips and the boys were soon apprehended after a foot chase in which one boy was mauled by a police K-9.

Apparently drooling at the chance to inflict more pain on these kids who'd just made a terrible decision, several officers begged to be a part of the arrest — in spite of the captain telling them they would not be paid for it. Detective Gregg Bigda and his partner, Luke Cournoyer were two of those cops.

The subsequent video of that arrest shows narcotics detective Gregg Bigda and his partner, Luke Cournoyer, veering between cajoling, prodding, coercing and outright threatening two boys with death, beatings and fictitious criminal charges, including the John F. Kennedy assassination, as reported by Mass Live.

Islamist 'morality police' are patrolling areas of Stockholm, committing acts of violence against women, advocates told Swedish media, expressing concern that Muslim girls are facing extreme limitations on their freedoms.

Those who fall victim to so-called honor crimes are accused of having inflicted shame upon their families by challenging, defying, or breaking the strict rules and norms imposed on them. Honor crimes can often be fatal, with 'guilty' parties being murdered by their own family members, friends, or fellow community members.

To keep girls and young women in check, the 'morality police' are now wandering the suburbs of the Swedish capital, in a situation which Zeliha Dagli, chairwoman of the women-only association Kibele, described as a "macho culture" aimed at controlling virtually every aspect the their lives, SVT broadcaster reported. "There are lots of attitudes here that did not exist in Sweden before. The clothing must be decent, makeup is not allowed. Girls are being restricted from childhood onwards," Dagli told SVT.

Comment: The migrant crisis has offered may eye-openers for the host countries and their refugees, demanding societal tolerances and adjustments, concessions and change. It is an extreme challenge for extreme times and extreme measures without guarantee, compounded by societal norms the West does not abide nor understand.

Protesters against a US military base in Italy used firecrackers, with police responding with tear gas. Demonstrators rallied on the day of the US presidential election saying no matter who wins, American soldiers should "go home."

Up to 200 people gathered in the Italian town of Vicenza on Tuesday calling on Washington to "free" their soil from the US military presence. Vicenza, located in north-eastern Italy, is home to the US "Dal Molin" Army base

Comment: Opinion poll: Europeans do not trust or want American occupation forces in their countries
Europeans do not trust the foreign military bases stationed on their countries' territories to resolve national security problems. Only 4% of German respondents and 5% of Italians believe that foreign military bases can handle the defense of their countries' better than their own national armies.

Given the sheer number of US military bases on the territory of Europe, it follows that Europe should be recognized as a continent under American occupation. Europe is an occupied continent and American military bases in Europe are the anchor of the political model of "united Europe." The famous Italian writer and columnist Max Bonelli clearly and definitively expressed this reality in an interview for Fort Russ when he said: "Italy is not an entirely sovereign state. 133 American bases are located on the territory of Italy..."

The Iraqi Armed Forces have found some documents in the region al- Rutbah that suggest that Daesh imprisoned two teenagers and put them into prison for joking and dancing. A Sputnik Arabic correspondent managed to take photos of the discovered documents in the south-west of the country near the Jordanian border.

The first document is about a teenager named Gidan, born in 2000. He was serving in Daesh's ranks and his nickname was "Abu Al-Baraa." According to the document he was imprisoned on charges of failing to appear for a combat mission. In addition, the teenager was charged with "excessive liveliness" and humor! His fate is currently unknown, as Daesh's prison in al- Rutbah is now empty, following the liberation of the town from jihadists by Iraqi forces.

The second paper reports on the imprisonment of another 16-year-old named Abdel Khamid whose nickname is Abi Bakr. He was also charged with failure to appear for a combat missions organized by Daesh. The second reason for his imprisonment was dancing in the ranks of the terrorists. The documents did not specify how and under what circumstances, the teenager managed to "offend" Daesh's ringleaders with his dancing. The document's author just wrote in his comments that Abi Bakr had immoral behavior.

Comment: And these are their own recruits. By all accounts, living under ISIS is a living hell.

At least four people have died and 14 were reportedly injured when sections of an industrial plant collapsed in Ekaterinburg, in Russia's Ural region. One worker from the plant is missing, a local police spokesperson said.

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, floor structures between two operating departments collapsed, killing four people, including three men aged 60, 54 and 30.

"We were sitting at the building in front [of the collapsed plant], heard a roar and saw a cloud of dust. We looked out the window and saw that a roof had collapsed in the nearby building. Some people got out of the windows, others were running around, removing those injured from the building," an eyewitness told Е1.RU.
