According to the newspaper, the incident happened in Iraq's western province of Anbar, about 200 kilometers northwest of Baghdad. The jihadist group murdered 67 men from the families it had captured on the grounds that they were linked with Sahwa paramilitary groups supported by Iraq's government. In an earlier killing, 255 tribesmen were executed, according to the newspaper.

Comment: Always remember that the unleashed monster we know as ISIS was originally part of the Syrian "rebellion" that the US supported and armed in the hopes of toppling the Assad government. Remember as well that ISIS provides an excellent opportunity for new military adventures from Washington, including bombing Syria. See:

Mortgage purchase applications plunge to 19-year lows

Summary Presented with little comment.. because realistically what is there to say about a so-called 'housing recovery' when the volume of applications for home purchases is the lowest since August 1995.

Keep believing that lower rates will support home prices... keep believing the Fed's QE worked... or face facts, this is not your mother's housing market any more...

The Recovery...

Comment: The chart above shows mortgage rates (blue) VS. mortgage apps (red).

Usually those two variable are negatively correlated: when one goes up the other one goes down.

However, since 2008 a de-correlation has occured. Despite the drop in interest rate (which should make mortgages more attractive), the number of mortgage application is decreasing.

Indeed even if interest rates were null, buying a house is simply unaffordable with 80% of the US population facing poverty or near-poverty.

Return of debtor's prisons: Creditors and judges prey on poor and unemployed

debtor's prisons
The debtors' prison is an old, decrepit institution that many thought was abolished in the 19th century, something little more than a relic of the past. This is a problematic view for two reasons. One, debtors' prisons are rarely explored in the classroom or the larger society. And two, these prisons are making a serious comeback in the United States, which is deeply problematic for the poor and working class.

The History of Debtors' Prisons

The traditional view of debtors' prisons in the U.S. is one of wretched incarceration where debtors were hung out to dry. While this is true, there is also more to the story.

In early colonial America, English law had an influence on colonial law - and laws regarding debt. In 16th century England, creditors had the legal power via the Law of Merchant to regain their money from insolvent debtors. They had this same power in Pennsylvania where, in 1682, the law stated that anyone who was in debt and had been arrested would be kept in prison, or "the debtor [could] satisfy the debt by servitude as the county court shall order, if the creditor desires." While debt servitude was problematic, it provided a way for a debtor to obtain eventual release.

The situation was worse in Massachusetts, which ruled in 1638 that "delinquent taxpayers be jailed, but provided that the Council or any court within Massachusetts could free the prisoner if it found him incapable of paying his taxes." However, as early as the next year, private debtors were being imprisoned as well, and in 1641 the courts ruled that "anyone who failed to pay a private debt could be kept in jail at his own expense until the debt was paid." Laws like these resulted in people dying in prisons when they were unable to pay off their debts.

Comment: More American 'exceptionalism' from the country with the largest prison population in the world. The justice system in fact criminalizes poverty and the system exploits inmates as slave labor. The US prison industrial complex is making a fortune which enables it to buy-off corrupt judges to keep their prisons full.

Ukrainian Nazis threaten military takeover 'if things don't change within 6 months' - Reports of Ukrainian Army teaming up with eastern rebels

Ukrainian punitive battalion
© Anatoli Stepanov/AFPVolunteers of the Ukrainian "Donbass" battalion take part in exercises in their camp on the border between Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, eastern Ukraine on April 26, 2014. Will they turn against the junta in Kiev if their demands are not met?
Things are neither easy nor settled in Ukraine, though some Western media are touting that stability is on the cards for the future. Despite the recent election in Ukraine putting the fascist Euro-centric faction firmly in control of the Ukrainian parliament, dissatisfaction and mistrust is evident. The low voter turnout was one indication of the terror in the country; more explicitly, fascist commanders of the punitive battalions didn't mince their words about what will happen if things don't go their way:
"There won't be a third Maidan if that happens," Feshchenko, 38, said in the frenetic headquarters of the Dnipro-1 volunteer militia in Dnipropetrovsk, in eastern Ukraine, where he is deputy commander. "There'll be a military takeover."
Another commander was equally uncompromising:
"We're going to give them half a year to show the country has somehow changed, that even if it's hard, there's light ahead," Yuriy Bereza, Dnipro-1's popular commander, told AFP.

Asked what would happen should that deadline pass, another paramilitary member at headquarters, a tall man in civilian clothing with a pistol strapped to his side, didn't hesitate.

"A coup," he said.
The discontent is not limited to fascist elements. Last week, hour-long conversations between militia commanders in Donbass and Ukrainian military field commanders showed a lot of agreements despite obvious disagreements, as The Saker reported:

Green Acres, Florida police officer Jared Nash breaks 15-year old girl's arm in school over cell phone

Less than a year after one of its police officers was arrested and charged with having unprotected sex with several women, knowing that he was HIV positive, the Green Acres, Florida Police Department is back in the spotlight.

In an exclusive story which I am breaking here on my blog, a young girl's father vows to seek justice for his daughter, after a Green Acres Police officer broke her arm.

The incident took place on Tuesday October 21, 2014 inside John I. Leonard High School.

That's where 15-year old Daniella Galindo was talking on her cell phone with her mom when Green Acres Police officer Jared Nash walked up to the teen, and asked her who she was talking to.

When Daniella replied that she was speaking with her mom, officer Nash demanded that she give him her phone.

When the teen refused, officer Nash grabbed the 4′ 11″, 90 pound young girl, slammed her against the wall, and twisted her arm, breaking it in two places.

Then, to add insult to injury, in the literal sense, as the young girl cried in pain with her arm broken, officer Nash pulled Daniella's arms back behind her back and handcuffed her.

Galindo says that it was then that a school sentry named Perez told officer Nash to remove the handcuffs.

"I want him fired," Jeremy Galindo, Daniella's father told me in a phone interview Sunday night.

"They (police) are saying that the officer's excessive force was justified because they say my daughter pulled away from him," Galindo said, adding, "So one of your officers breaks a minor's arm and you don't investigate?"

According to Jeremy Galindo, his daughter's assault by officer Jared Nash was caught on the school's video surveillance system, but school officials are refusing to release the video.

U.S. college "charities" funding Israel's secret nuclear weapons program called out by lawsuit

A federal lawsuit seeks immediate release of a closely held government report about how American branches of Israeli charitable and educational institutes fund secret nuclear weapons research and development programs.
Dimona nuclear reactor
An unclassified 1987 study conducted for the Department of Defense titled "Current Technology Issues in Israel" discovered Technion University technicians developing nuclear missile re-entry vehicles and working at the Dimona nuclear weapons production facility. Hebrew University computer scientists working at the Soreq nuclear facilities were "developing the kind of codes which will enable them to make hydrogen bombs." Israel's Weizmann Institute "studied high energy physics and hydrodynamics needed for nuclear bomb design, and worked on lasers to enrich uranium, the most advanced method for making the material dropped on Hiroshima in 1945" say sources attributed to the report cited in the lawsuit.

IRmep filed suit for the report in the DC District Court as part of a public-interest drive to obtain long overdue enforcement of the Symington and Glenn Amendments to the Foreign Assistance Act. The laws prohibit U.S. foreign aid to nuclear weapons states such as Israel that are not signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

A recent Google Consumer Survey (PDF) reveals that despite longstanding Israeli and US government gag orders on publicly discussing the arsenal, 63.9 percent of Americans now believe Israel possesses nuclear weapons. 60.7 percent of Americans oppose sending the largest share (9 percent) of the U.S. foreign aid budget to Israel.

Israel's Weizmann Institute, Technion, and Hebrew University raise substantial tax-exempt charitable funding through affiliates in the United States creating a "tax gap" that must be financed by individual American taxpayers. According to their most recent IRS filings, American branches of the three organizations raise a combined $172 million in annual U.S. tax-exempt funding. IRmep's "request for determination" filings with the IRS reveal that secret foreign nuclear weapons development has no recognized U.S. tax-deductible "social welfare" purpose.

Defendants Department of Defense, the DC US Attorney Office and Attorney General have until October 30 to respond to IRmep's public interest lawsuit demanding release of the explosive report. The Center for Policy and Law Enforcement is a unit of the Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy in Washington. Inquiries about the lawsuit or opinion poll results may be directed to Grant F. Smith at info@IRmep.org or 202-342-7325.

Comment: "By way of deception, wilt thou do war" (the Mossad motto) apparently applies in every facet of activity Israel engages in. The Zionist mindset considers it a coup to get other countries to pay for all their needs. Germany knows this well.

Towards a new Intifada? 28 Palestinians injured as clashes with Israeli forces rage across Jerusalem overnight

At least 28 Palestinians were injured as clashes with Israeli forces continued into the late hours of the night on Friday across Jerusalem, as anger over a series of killings by Israeli police boiled over into the streets of the city's Palestinian neighborhoods.

Clashes broke out in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhoods of Silwan, al-Issawiya, al-Tur, and Wadi al-Joz, as hundreds marched and fought pitched battles with security forces in anger over the killing of Mutaz Hijazi, 32, early Thursday, as well as the killing of Abd al-Rahman al-Shaludi, 21, the week before.

Both men were suspected by authorities of involvement in violent incidents targeting Israelis. But Palestinians have been outraged by their killings, highlighting that instead of being arrested both were shot dead by police on sight.

An autopsy on Friday revealed that Mutaz Hijazi, 32, was shot 20 times by different officers and left to die on his rooftop, as Israeli police refused to allow locals to reach him -- and later forced an ambulance to surrender his body, before returning it to the family late Thursday.

On Friday evening, Israeli forces raided the area around Hijazi's home al-Thawri neighborhood in Silwan, and locals told Ma'an that soldiers attacked a tent set up by the mourning family where friends and relatives were dropping in to offer condolences.

Israeli forces reportedly fired stun grenades, tear-gas canisters, and rubber-coated steel bullets at mourners gathered at the tent, and several men and women suffered severe tear gas inhalation while many others were injured by rubber-coated bullets.

Activist Jihad Oweida told Ma'an that one mourner, Attiya Shabbaneh, was injured by shrapnel from stun grenades in his face and was taken to al-Maqasid Hospital for treatment.

In the Bir Ayyub neighborhood, Israeli soldiers fired rubber-coated steel bullets and tear-gas canisters at more than 200 Palestinian youths who had gathered to visit the mourning tent set up in Hijazi's home.

Comment: Instead of being arrested, members of a population in despair are being shot by (racist) police on sight, leading to mass demonstrations. Does that sound familiar?

The deadliest outbreak on record of the Ebola virus has prompted some countries to respond with travel bans, in an attempt to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

The World Health Organization has recommended against any general ban on travel or trade with the West African countries that have been affected by the epidemic. The three countries most affected by the virus are Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. There were a small number of cases in Senegal, Nigeria and Mali. The WHO declared Senegal Ebola-free on Oct. 18 and declared Nigeria Ebola-free on Oct. 19.

What follows is a list of travel bans imposed by various countries:

In the video embedded below, two Austin, Texas police officers were accidentally recorded by a dashboard camera having what they thought was a private conversation.

After a brief back-and-forth between the two men about a minor collision they handled earlier in the day and other matters, an attractive woman walks by.

"Look at that girl over there," one officer says.
