'You still owe us $1,400': New Jersey woman dependent on oxygen tank dies after provider cuts off electricity

Comment: Remember the outrage in the US over the death of British baby Alfie Evans, the 'victim of socialized medicine'? Here's an American story that pushes it for heartlessness...

New Jersey authorities are investigating the circumstances of the tragic death of an elderly woman who was reliant on an oxygen tank and suffered a heart failure after her electricity provider cut off the power supply to her home.

Linda Daniels, 68, battled for her life for roughly six hours in her Newark residence desperately trying to gasp for air after the Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) cut off her electricity supply on Thursday morning. As family members desperately pleaded with PSE&G to turn the power back on, Daniels died of heart failure.

While the family claims that they notified PSE&G of Daniel's heart condition two years ago, after the woman was placed in hospice care, the power supply company claims they never knew the elderly lady relied on the air tank to breathe.

Mediterranean Sea has become the largest graveyard in modern history

In June 2018 alone, more than 500 refugees drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. Their boats were refused access to land in either Malta or Italy. They were force-driven back by gun-boats to the North African shores they came from, mostly Libya, but many boats capsized and countless refugees didn't make it.

These are de facto murders, high crimes against humanity, committed by the very European Union. The same "leaders" (criminals, rather), whose forebears are known to have raped, exploited, tortured, ravaged peoples and their lands of Asia, Africa, Latin America over the past 1000 years of abject colonization. Europeans have it in their genes to be inhuman. This can possibly be extended to the 'superior' greedy white race in general. At least to those who make it to political or corporate high office in the formidable EU or exceptional US, or to those who appoint themselves into the European Commission. We should call them "The Heartless Bunch".

Comment: The author's point is taken, in the the war-mad West has at bottom, caused the displacement of millions of people. However, he has studiously ignored the results after Europe's initial welcome of refugees/migrants, as they poured in their tens of thousands. It has been disastrous for the native populations as migrants demand the wholesale remaking of European culture to their own liking. Mr. Koenig appears not spare a thought for that destruction. He thinks the native Europeans deserve it.

How The West Misjudged Asia

Dear diary, I am writing about an ingenious plan that went awry and altered the trajectory of history. The plan was conceived and implemented over a century by my colleagues and their predecessors, the smartest and the most visionary people in the world. Merely 25 years ago, the plan seemed to have come to fruition, and western intellectuals talked not only about the end of the Cold War, but the "end of history." We were excited about the imminent New World Order (which is now referred to as the "international rules-based order"). Then Asia happened.

A Tale of two Novichoks: UK police unable to say if 'Amesbury nerve agent' is same as 'Salisbury nerve agent'

The UK's top counter-terrorism officer says police are unable to confirm whether the Novichok nerve agent to which a couple was exposed in Amesbury was from the same batch used to poison the Skripals in Salisbury last March. "We are police officers and we need to work on evidence so I would need a clear forensic link," Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism chief Neil Basu said on Monday.

Basu gave a press statement following the death of Dawn Sturgess, 44, from exposure to a nerve agent. She and her partner Charlie Rowley were hospitalized after both fell seriously ill in what was initially believed to be a drug-related incident. Last week Scotland Yard announced that scientists at Porton Down had established that Novichok was the cause of their sudden illness.

Speaking after Sturgess passed away on July 8, Basu told the media he "cannot offer any guarantees" and urged people to follow Public Health England advice to avoid picking up discarded containers or syringes. He added that Sturgess and Rowley's reactions were so severe that it's believed they came into contact with a high dose of Novichok after handling an infected container which detectives are now seeking.

Comment: In other words, there is no Novichok - at least, no 'nerve agent'. They just wanted to end out the SUGGESTION that there 'might' be. Even though they know perfectly well there isn't.

Immigrant PhD candidate's sudden US Army discharge

PhD candidate, Panshu Zhao visiting the White House, April 2018.
Growing up in eastern China, Panshu Zhao fell in love with America. He read the Bible his parents gave him, watched Hollywood movies and studied the ideals of democracy. He jumped at the chance to attend graduate school at Texas A&M University.

In 2016, Zhao enlisted in the U.S. Army as part of a special recruitment program offering immigrants in the country legally a path to citizenship.

The future, he said, was bright.

Now, he is one of the dozens of immigrant recruits and reservists struggling with abrupt, often unexplained military discharges and canceled contracts. They traded being willing to risk their lives for the prospect of U.S. citizenship, a timeworn exchange that's drawn linguists, medical specialists and thousands of other immigrants to the military since the Revolutionary War.

"It's just like you're dropped from heaven to hell," Zhao told The Associated Press on Friday.

It is unclear how many men and women who enlisted through the special recruitment program have been ousted from the Army, but immigration attorneys told the AP that they know of more than 40 recruits who recently have been discharged or whose status has become questionable.

Wisconsin's high court sides with fired conservative professor

A former Marquette University professor who wrote a blog post criticizing a student instructor he believed shut down debate against gay marriage shouldn't have lost his job because of what he published, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday.

The 120-page decision concluded that the private Catholic school breached its contract with professor John McAdams that guaranteed academic freedom and that he should be immediately reinstated. The university said it would comply with the ruling.

The court's 4-2 decision came down on ideological lines, with the conservative majority siding with McAdams. Those justices said the faculty panel that recommended his discipline had an "unacceptable bias" because one member had publicly expressed support for the graduate instructor.

The liberal justices called the decision "far reaching" and said academic freedom "does not protect McAdams from discipline" if his peers concluded he acted unprofessionally. One justice didn't participate in the ruling.

McAdams sued the university in 2016, arguing that he lost his job for exercising freedom of speech. Marquette said he wasn't fired for the content of his 2014 post, but because he named the instructor and linked to her personal website that had personal identifying information.

"That's not academic freedom. That's cyberbullying," Ralph Weber, Marquette's attorney, said Friday.

Mexico placed its capital and 10 states on alert after thieves stole a vehicle with a container full of radioactive materials. A private company employee left it in the back of his pickup truck.

"If you see the container, don't open it," the head of the nation's civil protection agency Luis Felipe Puente tweeted on Sunday as he announced the alert. The agency, tasked with securing the public's well-being, reported that the stolen substance presents a "low risk" but can cause cancer and other permanent health damage to any person who might try to open the container or be in contact with it "for a few hours."

Federal jury convicts brutal Liberian war criminal living in Philadelphia of immigration fraud

Jucontee Thomas Woewiyu, liberian war criminal

Jucontee Thomas Woewiyu
A federal jury has convicted a Liberian war criminal of immigration fraud and perjury after federal authorities charged the man with lying on his immigration application regarding his past anti-government violent activities including advocating rape, murder, child soldiers, and torture.

According to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement press release on July 3rd, Jucontee Thomas Woewiyu "lied on his application for U.S. citizenship by denying that he advocated the overthrow of any government by force or violence and by denying that he ever persecuted any person because of membership in a social group or their political opinion."

Apparently, Woewiyu is "a founder and the former Minister of Defense, chief spokesperson, and negotiator for the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), which was an armed rebel group led by Charles Taylor and committed to removing the Samuel Doe government forcibly from power in Liberia in the late 1980s and 1990s."

During his time with the NPFL, the group committed "torture, rape, forced sexual slavery, conscription of child soldiers, and murder" from 1989 to 1995. Nearly 20 liberians testified in front the grand jury against Woewiyu. The jury also heard of "NPFL soldiers cutting off victims' body parts in front of Woewiyu, while others described checkpoints with skulls and severed heads on stakes (some still dripping with blood) and intestines for ropes, as well as the ethnically based massacre of a village at the hands of the NPFL."

Comment: Presumably, the ideologically possessed useful idiots demanding the abolishment of ICE have no problems with the US hosting such criminals and others of his ilk. Fortunately, the majority of Americans have better sense:

According to official figures there's a new female genital mutilation case in UK every 2 hours, while all prosecution fails

A new case of female genital mutilation (FGM) is recorded in the UK every two hours, new official figures reveal. Most of the victims identified by the NHS were aged between 25 and 40.

It has sparked calls for authorities to do more to prosecute perpetrators - there has not been a successful case since FGM was outlawed in 1985.

According to figures released last week by the NHS, there were up to 6,196 women and girls who showed up at GPs across the country for FGM treatment between April 2017 and May 2018. Of these, 4,495 were newly recorded cases of FGM.

Israel's Gaza blockade is illegal - and so is the use of force to maintain it

Gaza March of Return
Human Rights Watch (HRW) is among the leading guardians of human rights in the world. Sari Bashi is HRW's Israel/Palestine Advocacy Director. She can lay claim to an impressive academic pedigree (BA, Yale; JD, Yale), and she co-founded the important Israeli human rights group Gisha. It thus cannot but depress that Bashi is so wanting in elementary moral and legal judgment when it comes to the people of Gaza.

Shortly after the Israeli massacre in Gaza on 14 May 2018, Bashi posted a commentary under the title, "Don't Blame Hamas for the Gaza Bloodshed."

Its essence is captured in the opening sentence: "Israel has a right to defend its borders, but shooting unarmed protesters who haven't breached its frontier is disproportionate and illegal." Insofar as the demonstrators didn't pose an "imminent threat to life," Bashi concludes, Israel had no right to use lethal force against them and, in any event, did not "exhaust" nonlethal means "such as tear gas, skunk water, and rubber-coated steel pellets" to throw back the assembled crowd.
