For 11 months Amanda Knox remained impassive as she sat in a Perugia courtroom, assailed by the accusations of prosecutors and a series of harrowing crime-scene photographs and films.

Even when she was sentenced to 26 years in prison for murdering the 21-year-old British exchange student Meredith Kercher, she bowed her head and wept noiselessly, burying her head in her lawyer's chest.

It was only as she was leaving the courtroom just after midnight yesterday morning and was being led back to the prison van by armed guards that she truly cracked. "No, no, no!" she shouted in desperation.

After 12 hours of deliberations with a colleague and six jurors, Judge Giancarlo Massei read the verdict in a low monotone in the frescoed courtroom in the picturesque hilltop city of Perugia in central Italy.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was today urged to investigate campaigners' claims that Amanda Knox may have been the victim of a miscarriage of justice.

The American is beginning a 26-year jail sentence after she convicted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher.

But U.S. senator Maria Cantwell said there were 'serious questions about the Italian justice system' and claimed there had been an anti-American element at the trial.

She said: 'I am in contact with the U.S. Ambassador to Italy and have been since the time of Ms. Knox's arrest. I will be conveying my concerns to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.'

An Italian jury last night convicted Amanda Knox of murder. The 22-year-old American was sentenced to 26 years in prison.

Knox and former lover Raffaele Sollecito were found guilty of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.

Knox and Italian Sollecito (25) killed the 21-year-old Ms Kercher in what began as an extreme sex game and ended with Sollecito holding her down while Knox cut her throat with a six-inch kitchen knife.

They committed the killing in Perugia, Italy, with small-time drug dealer Rudy Guede, 22, who was jailed for murder and sexual violence last October for 30 years.

Knox bowed her head and burst into tears as the verdict was read out.

Comment: What is clear is that this was a case of railroading.

I've already reported on irregular physical gold settlements which occurred in London, England back in the first week of October, 2009. Specifically, these settlements involved the intermediation of at least one Central Bank [The Bank of England] to resolve allocated settlements on behalf of J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank - who DID NOT have the gold bullion that they had sold short and were contracted to deliver. At the same time I reported on two other unusual occurrences:

1] - irregularities in the publication of the gold ETF - GLD's bar list from Sept. 25 - Oct.14 where the length of the bar list went from 1,381 pages to under 200 pages and then back up to 800 or so pages.

2] - reports of 400 oz. "good delivery" bricks of gold found gutted and filled with tungsten within the confines of LBMA approved vaults in Hong Kong.

Comment: Why, we wouldn't believe these allegations for all the tungsten in Fort Knox. Or would we?

Could it be? Salted gold bars being held as genuine the world around? GLD really a diversion from holding legitimate hard assets? The Fed caught lying (the Fed lying? Gasp!) about gold swaps?

Another confirmation of the wisdom:

Iran says labels reading 'Ministry of Sepah', a body that no longer exists, are enough to prove that the photos released by Israel are forged.
After Israel released photos it said proved that a huge shipment of weapons for Hezbollah came from Tehran, Iranian news agencies publish evidence showing that the photos are forged.

Israeli naval sources recently claimed that they found a large cache of Iranian-made arms when they stormed a vessel near Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea.

They claimed that the ship was heading for the Hezbollah resistance movement, either in Lebanon or Syria.

Iran instantly dismissed the claims, issuing a statement with which it condemned Israel's many acts of piracy in international waters.

A woman who suspected her 68-year-old husband of propositioning teenagers on the internet posed as a schoolgirl to lure him into a trap.

Cheryl Roberts, 61, created a false profile and pretended to be 14 as she exchanged intimate messages with him in a chat room. After he asked her for sex she reported him to the police.

David Roberts found out that he had been making advances to his own wife only after being arrested. He admitted that he had hoped to have sex with the "schoolgirl".

On Wednesday he was ordered to attend a programme for sex offenders as part of a three-year community order. He was also banned from contacting children on the internet and will have to register as a sex offender. Mrs Roberts was praised by a children's charity for reporting her husband.

Pouring money into the private banking system has only fixed the economy for bankers and the wealthy; it has not done much to address either the fundamental problem of unemployment or the debt trap so many Americans find themselves in.

President Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan has so far failed to halt the growth of unemployment: 2.7 million jobs have been lost since the stimulus plan began. California has lost 336,400 jobs. Judge sends man to prison after girlfriend terrorized with 'spectacularly gratuitous' violence

Ottawa - A diagnosed psychopath who once plunged a fork into his girlfriend's eye and had what a judge described as a long and "deeply troubling" history of violently abusing and threatening his intimate partners has been declared a long-term offender and sentenced to nine years in prison.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Colin McKinnon said it was time for Jason Kirk Bone, 29, to "graduate" to the federal prison system after years of harsh warnings he wouldn't heed from judges and Crown attorneys about more severe punishments if he didn't address problems with anger, jealousy and severe drug and alcohol abuse.

A B.C. woman -- the traumatized sexual-assault victim of a violent psychopath -- has sought police protection since learning her attacker is on the loose.

Rapist Dean Robert Zimmerman disappeared from his Calgary home less than two weeks after being released from prison for sexual assaults, and police say he's already wanted for new offences.

Zimmerman, 44, who is described as a psychopath whose violence toward women is escalating to a deadly level, skipped out on a meeting with Calgary police last Wednesday. There are fears he will strike again.

"There is a likelihood you would commit an offence causing serious harm or death," the National Parole Board wrote Oct. 29, 2008. The "degree of violence toward your victims appears to escalating."
